The first write in was held at the Williams in Whitby (a very fine establishment I must say!) and four seems to be the lucky number! We talked for a bit and got some writing done! Most of us had laptops, but I was the one slogging through it by hand. The new stickers were given out and it was a blast! We also discussed an idea for the donations that are in the Durham NaNoWriMo Donation Jar, one which I think is a really cool idea and benefits people the most. For every 10$ that accumulates in the jar, I will put names in a hat of people who don't have their halo. Whoever's name I draw out of the hat will have a ten dollar donation in their name, and receive a halo! This is the most fair way I can think of doing it, and it benefits the most amount of people! The Kick Off party happened last night at Williams in Whitby and four of us came out! It was a great time, talking about our novels, our previous experiences, and there were cool stickers and pencils! In this year's new and improved donation tin sits exactly $1.00! Thanks to all those who came, and for those who couldn't make it, we missed seeing you! Don't worry though, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet other Durham Region NaNoers in the month to come!
