Did you win?
We're beyond the 50K now...it's Wrimo Awards and Merit Badges! Check the thread to see if you're the lucky winner.
Last night for Wrimo Awards and Merit Badges!
Wrimo Awards may all hinge on the roll of a die...I really am not going to choose between everyone's characters, since I've secretly decided to steal them all, they're so awesome.
I mean um, no...no theft here at all. Look away from the man behind the curtain!
You did it.
CONGRATUFREAKINGLATIONS!
Look at all those pretty purple winners bars! If you haven't gotten yours yet, you've still got 50 minutes!
That's right folks - after days of counting down, we're in the final minutes!
T-Minus 6 hours...I'm I scaring you yet?
Queue our theme song, The Final Countdown!
Less than 11 hours left!
Less than 36 hours until it's pencils, pens, keyboards, markers and crayons down! Think you can wrap up the story and fill all those nasty plot holes in time? I do! (Think you can).
Don't forget! Last WORD WAR tomorrow at 10 am. Another $25 from Gelaskins goes to the victor! It's also an awesome time to get in some power word writing, and put your pro and an-tagonists up for nomination!
VALIDATION!
For your word counts starts today! I can't necessarily help validate why you spent the entire month of November being anti-social and muttering things about plot bunnies under your breath however. Other than because we can. And everyone else should.
Those already winners - go get your purple badge already! To the rest of us, we've got a whole 5 days and a handful of hours to get there...we can do it!
Reminder! Tonight at 10pm it's another WORD WAR!! I'm treating myself to sushi with friends tonight, so the thread will go up when I get home from that. The number of wrimos participating will determine the format, but it will be similar to last round.
Another $25 gift certificate is available - but as incentive, you can have your choice between Chapters or Gelaskins!
Hey guys - thanks so much for all your kind words yesterday - it's nice to know that all my blabber is helping out and not just me getting annoying :)
I'm sure you've noticed that blabber has been fairly quiet the last few days - I've kept my head down, disconnected my internet and had HUGE rallies to recover my word count. All thanks to you guys (I can't lose while being an ML, how bad would that look!) - you're my motivation :)
So cheers, good luck if you still need it - congratulations if those are in order! I'll see you guys in a couple days when I get up to where I should be and reconnect my net :P
Anyone else burning the midnight oil in celebration of the night of writing dangerously with me? Possibly watching bad TV (American Music Awards) at the same time? In PJs?
Forum posts have slowed down, I hope that's because everyone is busy writing! Fingers crossed your novels haven't slowed down too!
We're less than 2 weeks away from the finish line! How scary/thrilling is that?
It's Donation Day!
This year NaNoWriMo will cost around a cool $1 mil. - so far wrimos have ponied up $500,000 - and today's the start to try and raise that last $500,000 before December 1st!
Keep track of NaNoWriMo via Twitter and the Breaking News area of your dashboard, for cool prizes you can win, just for donating. Even pitching in a buck or two can help move this noble noveling cause forward!
25K Day! Woot!
Throw yourself a mini-halfway party: get the extra whip on your latte, finish off those mini chocolate bars I know you've stashed away, or spend the evening reading instead of writing!
As for me, I'll be hanging out in Barrie @ Casa Capp, hope to see you there!
Word war tonight!
Hit up the WACKY WORD WAR thread at 8PM to get in on the battle for a $25 Gelaskin gift code!
And don't forget - it's Back Up Your Novel Again Day!
Hey guys - regional email #3 is awaiting you in your NaNoMail boxes - excuse all the typos, I was again writing from my iPhone, since my laptop and I had a disagreement earlier. It apparently was siding with my car (which is still mad at me). My ongoing technology revolt aside - I just wanted to remind you about the Word War tomorrow night (8PM) that will have a prize to the victor!
Reminder:
You are awesome.
Hey guys - if you haven't noticed my word count not budge in a couple days, I haven't written a word in 2 days. I didn't even get a chance to stare blankly at the screen yesterday.
But high five to those who participated in our first Word War! Monday is the next one, let me know what time you think would be best!
I'm also likely to be a little quiet over the next little while. If you need me send a NaNoMail or post on Facebook, I'll do my best to check a couple times a day.
Word War going on NOW!
Check out the WORD WAR FRENZY thread to hop in - the next battle is a 15 minute doozy starting at 8:15!
If you haven't already noticed - Toronto has the RSVP up for their Subway Write-In this coming Sunday the 13th!
Starts @ 1, all the details are on their thread - RSVP if you can make it! Hopefully this is central for a few more people of our Elsewhere amalgamation and I'll see lots of you there!
Is everybody having the same kind of Monday as me? I sure hope not.
If you are - focus on the bright spot in the week...Word War Wednesday! Get excited, and check the thread below for more details!
!!!
Week One's Pep Talk is in - and it's from Erin Morgenstern!
Time to gush - those of you who have been following the forums know that I'm reading her book The Night Circus right now, and that it's so beautiful I feel like a horrible writer in comparison. Her pep talk is no different! (I like the tip about changing the font to white). Check it out!
Didn't get it? Let me know so I can make sure the powers that be fix whatever little bug is in the way.
P.S. Sorry for using my ML powers to gush. But it's Erin Morgenstern. And I'm reading her book. And it's AWESOME.
Hey guys - I'm not writing today. *gasp* I know. I'm the worst ML in history. However - high five to those of you that haven't hit a wall yet!
Love that everyone is creating their own threads - as an Elsewhere region, my job is more of a facilitator than running any sort of pony show - for those of you who have been thread shy so far - go ahead and start one! Just try to make it different from any thread that already exists. Also - don't forget there's a slew of other forums you can check out in the general area. There's places to leave characters you like but don't need (for someone else to adopt into their story) and a reference desk for obscure questions you don't have the answer to (although your ML is a librarian - she might be able to help :P).
Keep on truckin'! (I'll make up for today tomorrow, pinky swear).
Just a friendly reminder that a couple areas have write-ins going on this weekend - check out the thread for your location to see what's going down! I'm sticking close to home and hitting up my local library, see the Durham forum if you're interested (or NaNoMail me :D)
Keep on writing - high fives all around, regardless of your word count!
How's everyone doing? Have you started? Is it going as well as you thought, or are you blowing your word count out of the water when you thought it would be like pulling teeth?
I'm pulling teeth, but I'm also bouncing between two projects. But keep trucking! Cover up that backspace key, and lets get a good buffer going so that when that day comes that the caffiene fatigue sets in, you've still got lots of work to pull from and keep moving forward!!
GO!
Breaking News!
The awesome awesome awesome hardworking team getting chat together for all the regions is on the cusp of getting everything finalized! We won't have chat in time for November 1st (since they have things like jobs, and lives), but looks like we should hopefully be up and running in time for the first word war! If anyone is super against doing the first word war via chat, please let me know via NaNoMail.
Also 10 HOURS!!!
Hey guys! Thanks to everyone who came out to the kick off parties, we had some good conversation going, and great ideas thrown around (also some that were questionable...but still great :P)!
Today will be a mostly NaNo day for me as I catch up on forum posts and ML business, getting my calendar in order and such. Over the weekend I'll check in to make sure I don't miss any pressing issues, but other than that, don't expect to hear from me until the first "official" regional email Sunday night. Then it's just one day between us and the start of 50K! I'll be in touch Sunday....and then I'll see you all in November!!
I'm hiding in the back @ Covernotes Richmond Hill - with a soon to die laptop! Find me in my big black sweater and pink checkered scarf Wrimos :)
Hope to see all the York Region ladies and gents out!
Now...to outline. Finally!
Hey guys!
York Region Wrimos - tonight's the night! Covernotes in Richmond Hill @ 7 for a little meet n greet to get ready for our upcoming NaNoWriMo season!
High fives to Amberleaf and Ex Animo for dropping by Barrie's little gathering last evening :)
Hey guys!
I'm at Casa Cappuccino in Barrie for the first of two kick-off parties this week! Look for me in my blue ML shirt, with a Write-In sign on the table!
Hope to see some adventurous souls braving the dreary weather :) I'll be here until around 9 or so, depending on the turn out!
KICK OFF PARTY TONIGHT!
It's Barrie's turn this evening, hope to see people stopping by!
Also...has anyone else noticed how close we are getting to 2000 members? Crazy!
Last tidbit....5 DAYS!
Kick-Off party details have _finally_ been decided (thanks everyone for helping!)!
Barrie - Wednesday - Casa Cappuccino
York Region - Thursday - Covernotes in RH
Kick-Off Party updates in the Write-In Where forum and on the Google Calendar! Ch-ch-ch-ch-check it out!
8 Days!!! (I like exclamation marks!!!!)
So many happy NaNo moments today - people pulling tags off the posters I put up for NaNoWriMo, seeing all the posts going on in the forum. Yay :)
I'm sure everyone knows we're down to 11 days. 11. I can't capitalize numbers, but if I could, I would. 11!
Final arrangements are being made for kick-off parties next week - get your say in at the Write-In Where thread!!
Reasons I became an ML: So I could steal all the awesome things other MLs have found/created and post them for you guys!
Check out the new Build-a-Book link over in our aptly named Links section. It walks you through the nitty gritty things you'll need to get your story off the ground. You even get to draw!! I suggest printing a copy out for this...drawing on your computer monitor might not go so well...
I've gone ahead and created us a Facebook page!
That way everyone can share photos of NaNo events, and we can take great advantage of their polls feature for voting for write-in events etc.
Head on over and join up - then take part in the first poll!
Welcome to the *NEW* NaNoWriMo site - and our sparkling little piece of Elsewhere, Ontario!
Why are you still reading this note - don't you have prep work to do for November?!

Like the Island of Misfit Toys, only less toys and more literary....and Ontario sort of counts as an island right? If by island you mean landlocked province in the true north, strong and free.
