Notes
Hello my fine fellow writers,
As you know, tomorrow is our (early) TGIO party and reading at Plum Island Coffee Roaster's in Newburport. I have 9 reader's signed up which is really great! If anyone else would like to read, let me know today if you can, but its ok to show up and ask for a reading slot too. Here is how the program will go:
I hope to start at around 4:30, but will try and wait for all readers to get there. If you can make it by 4:30, that would be great. I will give a little intro about what we have all been doing these last few weeks, saying a little about the organization in general and just generally greeting everyone. I will also make a shameless fundraising plea.I will then introduce our first reader (volunteer for first?).
Each reader should prepare:
- A one to two minute introduction, including your name, a little about yourself and a little bit about your novel. You can tell the audience your current word count if you feel so inclined.
-A five to six minute excerpt. Please do not go over this time limit. With the number of reader's we have, the program will begin to get too long if people do not adhere to this time frame. Practicing is highly recommended, and you should definitely time yourself while reading out loud. When everyone has read, I will again say a few closing words, make the shameless fundraising plug again and open the mic up to members of the community (or more of you) who would like an opportunity to showcase their work. I was thinking about reading some poetry I've written if there is enough time.
The coffee shop will be open for regular business at this time and they will have coffee, tea and snack available for purchase. GROOVY.
Thanks for participating folks! See you tomorrow.
Yay!
We won the word war this week folks! Nice work.
Hey People,
I am removing next Friday's write-in at Zumi's due to low attendance. I am happy to say, however, that this write-in has been the only one not well attended. I had fun at the Hamilton Wenham library today. Thanks Sarah, and great snacks!
Happy Saturday Folks!
This morning I will be at the Hamilton- Wenham Library write-in, with NaNoWriMo stickers in hand. For anyone that can't make it in the morning, or anyone who has been attending the Beverly write-ins that has yet to get a sticker, I plan on leaving some with Sarah (slauderdale) so that you can pick from the four different styles.
Howdy Folks!
Please check your nanomail for an important regional message. We are half way there! My plan is to get caught up today (I need an additional 4,500 words).
Happy Writing!
A QUICK NOTE:
There are three places where I might post important information for you. There is this forum, the "notes" on the regional lounge homepage and your nanomail. I would just like to ask that you check all three places before asking questions in the threads. I have noticed that there has been some confusion about write-ins, word wars and other important business that could have been cleared up by reading the most current note. Posting in the "notes" is preferable to the threads because it is a more public space with a better chance of being seen. It will save me time and you time, if I don't have to repeat info! Thanks everyone and happy writing!
WE WON THE WORD WAR THIS WEEK!
New Hampshire had 12 wrimos submit their word count for a total of 181,839, averaged to 15,153. We had 11 wrimos submit for a total of 190,364 averaging out to 17,306! Great work folks, and congrats on winning round one!
Howdy Wrimos!
Thanks to everyone who came to the kick off party! It was really nice to chat with all of you, despite the bad service at that restaurant. I wanted to let all of you know that I added two more write-in dates to our calendar. In addition to Tuesday nights at the Newburyport Library, there will be a write-in beginning at the same time in the Beverly Starbucks on Elliott street. Additionally, as requested I have added a write-in in Vinnin Square on Wednesday evenings. The schedule may again change next week as some of our write-ins had low attendance. I hope to see a whole bunch of you this week and HAPPY WRITING.
WORD WAR PEOPLE:
Please put your word count in the WORD WAR thread by 8pm tonight! If you haven't already signed up, I am afraid it is too late. Happy writing folks.
IT'S HAPPENING...IT'S REALLY HAPPENING!
Thanks to everyone who joined the WORD WAR and goodluck with your first day of writing! This week I will be attending the Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday write-ins. Our KICK OFF party will be held in Beverly on Sunday after the write in at the Beverly Starbucks. The Sunday write-in is scheduled to go until 5 but we will begin our party at 4pm to beat the dinner crowd. Anyone who wants to write til 5 is welcome to join after. Please RSVP in the thread below if you think you might be attending. HAPPY WRITING, FOLKS.
LESS THAN ONE DAY TO KICK OFF!
I hope all of you have had a chance to look at the Calendar of events. Today is the last day to sign up for the New Hampshire WORD WAR and (eek!) the last day to get your ducks in a row for the madness to follow! Please email me with any questions you might have and check your nanomail inbox for updates! Good Luck All!
Hello All!
The beginning is just around the corner. The write-in at the Newburyport Library will be kicking things off on Tuesday. I won't be in attendance for this one folks but will be at Plum Island Coffee Roasters on Wednesday from 1 - 4. Normally, the Plum Island Write-in will be on Mondays. Wednesdays will be the one day of the week that we have no scheduled write-ins. Please check out the calendar below, and don't forget to sign up for our WORD WAR with New Hampshire!
Anyone for a WORD WAR?
We've been challenged to a word war by our neighboring New Hampshire Region! If you'd like to participate, let me know in the accompanying thread below. You have until Oct. 31 to sign up. Let's show New Hampshire what we are made of! More details to follow....
Hello Folks!
For anyone attending the Zumi's outline write-in: We may not all have seating as soon as we get there, it is a popular spot! I am going to try and get there early and secure a table, but with the attendance we sound like we are going to have, some folks might be standing for a little bit. I hope this doesn't bug anyone! For anyone who hasn't been there, let me tell ya, its got great drinks and really friendly staff. Can't wait!
Howdy Wrimos!
I've added some dates to the calendar below. With the exception of the Library dates on Tuesday and Saturday, the other write-ins are subject to change, depending on turn out, how much we like the space, if its a good time to occupy the space etc. We have our FIRST write-in THIS Sunday at Zumi's Coffee Shop in Ipswich. We will be working on our outlines. I think that the stronger the outline, the easier it is to get that word count! Zumi's is right down town and a super easy walk from the train station. Hope to see many of you there!
Welcome back North Shore Wrimos!
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during write-ins and other events during the month of November. I have some exciting ideas for the coming month, including a possible word-off with our neighboring New Hampshire region! I'd like to meet in October for an outline writing/fine tuning session.
Please let me know if this interests you and provide me with your availability. Don't forget to introduce yourself in the thread below!
Happy writing, folks.
