It's backup Monday again!!

And keep writing, even if it's only a paragraph.

Today is BACK-UP MONDAY!!!

If you haven't backed up your novel, DO IT NAO!

Back it up to multiple places, you may want to call it backup 1. Next Monday make a backup and call it Back up 2, etc. That way if something gets corrupted you won't lose everything. You may also want to break your novel up into smaller chunks instead of one giant doc.

Nice turnout for our first write-in at Lower Prov Lib. I hope more people will consider trying it out. I have stickers for attendees :)

***Write-in at Norristown Public Library has been CANCELLED due to FrankenStorm. (That sounds like a writing prompt to me.)

I have not heard from Upper Perk PL, but please check with them before you head there on Tues. I do not think I will be able to make it there regardless of what the weather has done to us.

OK, people are freaking out all over the place about FrankenStorm. I guess Hurricane Sandy isn't scary sounding enough. Anyway...Keep an ear out in case any write-ins you were planning on attending are closed. If I lose power I will have my phone for a few hrs until that dies too. I am hoping that this storm is all hype and that everything will be fine.

Whoo Hoo. The Lower Prov Library KickOff had great attendance! So good to meet everyone. So much energy and support. Writing tends to be a solitary activity, but being in this with friends makes it so much better.

This Thursday is the kick off at Lower Prov Library. 6:30 - 7:45 bring a snack to share and a beverage for yourself. I'll see you all there!

Only 1 person showed at Royersford :( even though a few had signed up. I am hoping for a better turn out in November.

Next kick-off meeting is Lower Prov Lib on Thursday, Oct 25 from 6:30- 7:45pm.

Then, Monday Oct 29 from 6-7:30pm at Montg Co-Norristown Public Library. There is fenced-in parking under the bldg.

We have a Kick Off Meeting on Wed Oct 10th at Royersford Library from 6:30-7:30pm it's a new locations for write-ins this year. Come on out and we'll talk about some of the things you can do prior to Nov 1 to get ready to write!

Kick off Meeting at Lower Providence Library on Thursday 10/25 to get our ducks in a row for nano.

TGIO Party, Sat March 31 from 3-7pm at Thomas Paine UU Fellowship in Collegeville (www.tpuuf.org). Come one, come all!

You can also use this as a kick off for Script Frenzy for those of you planning to participate in that. :)

Please look at the latest on the TGIO Party and post what day/time would be good for you there and also on the thread to set up a regular write-in/edit session now that nano and the holidays are over.

People have expressed interest in continuing to meet once the holidays are over to push those not finished to finish their novels and to help those who are finished to edit/proof. Or to at least give them encouragement to do so.

Don't forget to backup your novel in all the craziness of pushing for the final stretch. And when I say back up, I mean, save the entire thing in more than one place--just in case.

I do wish the high wordcount person would come forward.

And look at us, we are cooking with donations now. Please consider making a donation if you haven't already. nano stats say only about 6% of participants donate, so we need 7 more people to step up for our region. if everyone on nano donated $1, we would have the million we need to pay off this year and look forward to next year without having to give up anything on the site, or cutting programs.

--Did you know NaNo has a $500,000 shortfall this year? This means if they don't raise the money they will have to borrow it and if they can't raise the money to cover before the end of February, that could mean cutting back on what NaNo offers next year? Can you stand to lose some of the great forums? All of them? What about the freebies to Libraries and Schools? Please Please Please Make a Donation.

--Still trying to decide on times for a write-in on Friday at Thomas Paine. Post your comments in the thread for Black Friday. The Norristown Public Library is also open that day, so people could meet and write there as well.
