Notes
We're in the chat room from NOW until midnight, making sure everyone who's still stretching reaches their goals tonight. Come join us! Folks who have already won are also welcome as long as you promise to participate in races and/or cheer the rest of us on. (We'll have another chat party later to talk about how amazing we all are for reaching our goals. ;) )
Happy Donation Day!
Consider this: a candy bar costs $1.50 at a convenience store (if you're lucky...) A cup of Starbucks costs $4. A movie matinee with popcorn costs $10. A month of cable TV costs $80. How much joy to do those things give you? How much joy will NaNoWriMo give you this month? Give it some thought, and if you have some spare change and feel inspired to help out the folks at the Office of Letters & Light and all the brilliant work they do, stop by the donation station today!
If you don't have any spare change, that's okay too! There are still ways you can help. Check out the links over on the right side, and have a beautiful Noveling Wednesday!
Don't forget to join midnightsun (Jillian) and ksjovold at Coffea in Sioux Falls for a write-in today starting at 3:00. Many words will be accomplished!
Have you backed up your novel yet? An excellent (and free!) way to make sure you've saved it to infinity is to simply email a copy to yourself. USB drives and writeable CDs are also great options. Just make sure you have copies in more than one place!
Don't forget to join us today from 1:00 - 4:00 at the Watertown Public Library or starting at 7:00 at Coffea in Sioux Falls. Writing in a flock is good for everyone! (Flock? Herd? Pride? A pride of writers? I think so.)
As of this morning, we have 501 people registered in this region. That's 280% more people than when I started 4 years ago. South Dakota is really coming alive!
We're starting to get a good line-up of write-ins scheduled for this Saturday. Check the calendar to see if one is planned in your area yet. If not, check out the conversations about your area below, or shoot me a NaNo mail, and I will be very happy to help you plan one in your neck of the woods.
HAPPY NOVEMBER FIRST! You may now commence your novels.
And in case you're wondering where this unexpected ML came from: I am primarily in your headers to help organize a write-in schedule, via the calendar below, and to officially be able to help out with forum wrangling. I'm completely dependent on all your wonderful, volunteering selves to work out when and where write-ins will actually happen. See posts below for details!

About us
Though we are scattered acrost a vast state, the novelists in South Dakota are a hearty and dedicated bunch. Here you'll find folks from Sioux Falls to Sisseton to Mobridge, from various institutions of higher learning, and from all the wide places in between. We even have a few interlopers from Minnesota and Iowa, whom we happily welcome!
