Thank Goodness It's Over Party
Saturday, December 3 from 4:30 to 6:00 (Mountain time)
Hoyt Room, Rapid City Public Library
We're in the chat room from NOW until midnight, making sure everyone who's still stretching reaches their goals tonight. Come join us!
We're going to be in the Rapid City Journal this Sunday! Check it out and report back here if you can - I don't get the paper anymore!
If you can, join us tonight at the Deadwood Social Club at 6:00. We can get tasty appetizers and pound out some words. See you there!
Happy Donation Day!
Consider this: a candy bar costs $1.50 at a convenience store (if you're lucky...) A cup of Starbucks costs $4. A movie matinee with popcorn costs $10. A month of cable TV costs $80. How much joy to do those things give you? How much joy will NaNoWriMo give you this month? Give it some thought, and if you have some spare change and feel inspired to help out the folks at the Office of Letters & Light and all the brilliant work they do, stop by the donation station today!
If you don't have any spare change, that's okay too! There are still ways you can help. Check out the links over on the right side, and have a beautiful Noveling Wednesday!
Don't forget to join us today (Saturday) for a write-in at the Rapid City Library, starting at 4:30. I'll make sure someone is near the front with a NaNo poster to direct folks to wherever we settle. See you there!
Have you backed up your novel yet? An excellent (and free!) way to make sure you've saved it to infinity is to simply email a copy to yourself. USB drives and writeable CDs are also great options. Just make sure you have copies in more than one place!
Join us at the Rapid City Public Library today for a nice wintery write-in, starting at 3:00. Jean (Crzy4House) will be hosting. Look for the cluster of people using laptops, maybe with a NaNo poster or two to identify them to you. Do be careful in case of slippery roads if you venture out today. Winter is here!
I hear some of you are flying through your word-counts, and some of you are just inching along. (I'm in the inching camp.) Remember: as long as you put down *some* words *every* day - you're doin' in it right! Keep at it, and don't give up.
Ready... set... GO!
Our Kick-Off party was AMAZING! Thanks to all of you who were able to make it out. If you couldn't join us on Saturday, there will be plenty more opportunities to get together throughout the month. Keep an eye on the calendar, and stay tuned for more additions!
Hey, look! We're on Twitter now. Follow us to get your updates from one more handy site. http://twitter.com/#!/BlackHillsNaNo
The countdown has begun! We are officially less than one week away from launch. Sharpen your pencils, do your speed-typing exercises, and mark your calendars for our Kick-Off this Saturday at 4:00!
This year's Kick-Off Party will be on Saturday, October 29th from 4:00 - 5:00 at Dunn Bros Coffee in Rapid City, in their back room.
(The room is reserved from 3:30 to 6:00, so feel free to come early and stay late.) There will be stickers, chocolate, helpful novel ideas, and possibly some costumes. Drop in to meet some of your fellow Wrimos and get excited for the month to come! And bring a friend - why not?
Welcome to a new year and a new NaNo site! Take a minute and look around, join some of the discussions below, and let that novel start percolating in your brain.
If you're brand new to NaNoWriMo this year - double welcome! You'll find lots of encouraging and helpful stuff in these forums.
First order of business: setting up a Kick-Off Party. Some ideas have been proposed - check the Party thread below and register your opinions today.
