Woohoo! Another year kicks off! Welcome aboard, new authors, and ain't it good to be back, survivors?
It's a wild, exciting, over sugared, over chocolated, over coffeed, under-exercised, wildly exciting, rollercoaster mad ol' month, and it's gonna be a blast!
So, have you recruited a friend for this year yet? Go and find a mate who hasn't done it before and sign them up... let's make this the biggest year for kiwis yet. The more, the merrier, and the more people to have word wars with, right?
So, hi, I'm AJ, one of your "municipal liaisons" - the chchch guy who helps make things happen and tries to get the local groups together. You'll meet the other local MLs here online soon. Welcome aboard, authors, and introduce yourself here!
AJ

Another ML waving from wet, windy Wellington. I'm sure we had some sunshine around here somewhere.
I have recruited! In large part thanks to Kiwi Writers but I've also roped my brother into joining since he has a lovely break between finishing uni and starting work that just happens to fall in November!
This is my third NaNoWriMo and second year as ML. I'm SO excited and can't wait to see the great numbers of Kiwi's participating this year.

YES. Here we go.
Some of you will remember me from last year, and gossip cruelly about how I totally flaked out. WELL THIS YEAR WILL BE TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Maybe. We'll see! One thing that won't change is that I'm still totally up for meeting fellow Wrimo-Wellingtonians!
Which, to those that don't remember me or are new, I am. I'm Willocwen a.k.a Samantha and no longer a high school student, hooray!

Yay! :D:D
I haven't participated in an official NaNo before... but there was a small, unofficial one based on Livejournal in July. I had a great time, and ended up with a passable novel, and I've been waiting gleefully for November since ^_^
I intend to recruit just about everyone I know who isn't doing exams in November. *cracks knuckles* Mwahaha...
I'm 21, female, living in Auckland.

Hi everyone!
I'm Jen, and I'm from Auckland. This will be my second year doing Nano.
Roll on November! ^____^
EDIT: My post count was still zero after posting this. Don't posts in regional forums count in your post count? o_O

Hey there,
My name is Travis Cottreau and I hail from Wellington.
This is my 2nd year of Nano (and a kiwiwriter's novel since last Nano! Yay Kiwiwriters!).
I have yet to recruit anyone, but will be asking around this month for some "volunteers" ;-)
Talk to you all on the forums in the coming weeks.

Hi, I'm angrysunbird (ASB) hailing from sub-polar Wellington. I arrived here in January, joined Kiwi writers but sadly got swamped by my PhD, but I have never missed a nanaowrimo for years. This will be me my fith time, and I haven't lost yet. I also was ML in Sydney last year, so I'll be poking you all along even though it is no longer my job.

Hey all, I'm Ruth, the ML from Palmy North... finally able to sign in today! 3rd day lucky I guess. :-)
I have three exams this November and will be starting full-time work then, so with MLing and novel-writing I suspect I'll have my work cut out for me... still, I've completed my novel every year since I started so far, and this year I'll have the added incentive of beating my boyfriend (who's convinced it can't be as hard as I make out every year, and has decided to try for it this year to show me. I'll show him..!)

Hey Willocwen! and everyone else! It's so great to start seeing familiar names around the place.
I couldn't convince my man to participate, but then he's not the writer type. I'm sure your boyfriend will discover the truth of NaNoWriMo. *grin* And we have someone else to coerce (sp?) into NaNoWriMo!! Jo Chapman. :)

Haha YES - I forgot about that! She's actually made it one of her goals now, to complete NaNoWriMo. So hopefully that'll be happening this year... I'll send her a gentle [ahem] reminder....

Welcome new-comers and returning crazy-people alike.
I am Avron on-line, Gareth in the "Real World" and it's very good to be back. The anticipation has been building since July when my idea for this years novel came to me.
One of my new flatmates seemed, well, intrigued, when I mentioned NaNo to her but I haven't mentioned it again so I'll have to do that. Many of my friends know that I do this each year but I haven't seen or heard any real interest from them, maybe I should try and come up with incentives of some sort?
PS. AJ, how can one be "over chocolated"? Those two words don't seem to go together properly.

You cannot be over chocolated. There is not such thing.

Agreed! You can eat to the point where you think about never looking at a bar of chocolate again, but five minutes later you still want another one. XD

Jennifer (Aza) from Christchurch.
This is my third year and I'm hoping to finish again. Last year was dicey as I moved house in the middle and this year I'm a bit worried about the fact that I've written very little so far this year :P. *fingers crossed*
I'm currently spending Oct doing snippets, hunting a plot/characters and getting stuff like art folios out of the way.
I might even turn up to a meetup this year :)

@angrysunbird: yeah, we were really looking forward to meeting up with you. Hope you can make one of the write-ins in Wellington.

Hi everybody!
I'm crazy nervous about all this! I signed up last year, but got nowhere at all... lame. Anyway, I am feeling totally psyched about it this year – way more so than last year (maybe it was turning 30 and realising that I still haven't completed the bestselling novel that was supposedly going to free me from the next twenty-odd years of 9-5 slavery).
My other incentive for finishing the book is that I'm going on a long-haul flight on the 30th November, and I absolutely hate flying, so am hoping that having a completed novel to edit on the flight will take my mind of the fact that I am stranded miles above the earth in a silver tube of death. So, I'm kind of writing my own airport novel. I hope its a page turner!

abrandnewboom/Courtie, reporting for duty, yo.
First year in nano, first year in uni, 18 yo chick in Auckland.
I'll be delaying in joining the fray due to examinations, but doubling my daily word count for the remainder of the month to make up for it. It's going to be brutal! >D

PhDs suck the free time away like fires suck oxygen. I will make the write ins though. I will I will I will. I loved meeting novelists last year and talking novels. Its the perfect antidote to writing my first manuscript.

Hi all,
It's good to see some familiar faces (I suppose I should make that 'names') around here. This is year six for me, and it seems insane. A couple of weeks ago I was trying to remember what all my novels were called, and which computers they're scattered on.

Heyla
I'm moonangelica online and Junelle in person. This is the first year I've plucked up the courage to actually participate and, somehow, also the first year in a while where I have written nearly nothing all year ^^;;
I'm from Christchurch, though due to job hunting may end up moving halfway so I've pretty much stacked the cards against myself lol. Hopefully I can go to some meetings and stuff and go to know people.

Hello! Angellic here! (AKA Jane)
Survivor of last years nano!
Did it all again for SocNoc in June!
Proud member of Kiwiwriters!
Back for more 50,000 words of fun!
Yay to see so many veterans back again, and of course always great to see new faces.
Have dubiously recruited my flatmate to the cause, and my husband may sign up also.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm from Wellington, working as a nurse. Have had severely diminished time for writing these year due the insanity that is post-grad study, however the final assignment is due on October 31st so I'm gonna be free as a bird for Nano! Yay!
Happy prepping!

This year I'm going to do it. I swear. This year I'm also (hopefully) going to make it to at least one of the Welly meet ups because this year.... it looks like I'll be back in Welly by November (As long as I get into the flat I'm looking at...) Yes this is Rachael here aka Luvya back for another year.
After two fails but who's counting seriously? We're going to kick but and I'm hyper.
Oh and if any Wellingtonions feel like poping in to work I work in Lampton Quay Burger king :-)

Greetings! I'm Owen, and have been recruited to join in this craziness by my lovely (*cough*) sister Kerryn ;)
Fortunately I neither have to study nor work for the entire month of November as I've just about finished my undergrad degree and don't descend into the depths of full-time work until December. So in between playing my guitar religiously, playing video games even more so, and trying to chill out a bit I thought why not try for 50,000 words as well! Coherent words? I think not! But I'm sure it will be fun to write, if not to read!
