I seem to rememeber a pretty basic and very painful one is inserting sharp objects (i.e. toothpicks or anything else that can be easily gotten hold of) under the unfortunate persons finger nails. I have seen that before on Lost (they used bamboo shards) but also other places too.

Electrocution is always a goody too :) Leaves nice burn marks too, which can then be manipulated further by the addition of pressure by a blunt instrument and/or salt.

I once read a story that involved a character having long, thick needles slightly inserted in his back, along his spine, and then just dropped onto his back.

I've always prefered the Catherine Wheel. All the bones are broken in your body, then your threaded through the spokes on a wheel, which is then placed upon the end of a 10 foot pole which is raised up. There you are left to die slowly and in supreme agony. After you are dead your body is left there while your body is picked clean by carrion birds.

Neck pain.

No, I'm being serious. I've had a pain in my neck for days now and every time I try to turn around, WHAM! Instant pain.

You could always stick them in a house with loud neighbours. I'm talking neighbours who tapdance, play the bagpipes, yell frequently, play guitar/flute/Who Can Laugh in the Most Obnoxious Way? loudly at all hours of the day, play music at midnight with no consideration to people who are trying to sleep, and neighbours who sing extremely loudly.

What you just read is my neighbours summed up into one irritating ball of irritatingness. They do everything above but the bagpipes -- I'm convinced that they'll take that up one day, too.

Throat stuff. Making people swallow something or whatever. Cus like. Don't you find that when you have minor pain in various places, like when you have flu, sore throat is always the WORST? xD

Inner torture and monologues that can go on for pages and pages...and pages.

How about putting the person into a small room or airlock and then slowly suck the air out eventually leading to a vacuum. lots of opportunity to write about all the horrible symptoms - asphixiation, possible blood boiling in the low pressure, other terrible effects to the brain and the ability to think.

Overall... very bad I think.

torture that inevitably leads to death isn't torture; it's a swanky way of execution.
torture is similar to brainwashing, in that it uses regression to get people compliant. its all about putting a superior third party to bear on the person's phyche, and keep on wearing them down until their perspective about 'them' and 'i' becomes a very very dim one. it's about making a person become an object. the difference between torture and brainwashing is that, in brainwashing, you build them back up, and in torture, you spit in their face and leave them.

rape is ideal in this, as is humiliation and depreivation. pain is also ideal, because they just can't stop it from happening to them, therefore establishing the torturerer as the superior party.

Stuff like being tied to a chair and being forced to watch a marathon of Barney...for three whole days.

Other stuff like peeling skin (only like a square inch at a time) and then being dunked in salt water would suck. I also read something about total sensory deprivation. It involved a dark, soundproof room and water at room temperature. Then you can suddenly turn on some bright lights, blare a car alarm, and dump ice cubes on the poor sap. I guess he'd have a heart attack with makes it a fast death but...they never saw it coming, right?

I know this’ll probably sound creepy, but fart torture, sit on someone’s nose and force them to smell your waste gas, its possible to survive under there for a limited amount of time because of the small oxygen content, and what a stink, smell torture always seems to be overlooked.

Lock a person (I mean so that nothing besides maybe their face can move) in place under a bamboo stalk in early spring or summer. Bamboo plants at that time are the fastest growing plants in the world. They grow approximately a foot to a foot in a half everyday. Just feed the person and in a few days, you get torture.

well firstly leather shrinks when put in the wash, so put some really tight leather pants on a person, then dip them in water and have them somewhere suspended i n the air to dry, tee hee, muohoho

another one which is brutal. stab a knife at the bottom of their spine, to instantly paralyze them, then do what you want, the one above for example, and then get a two bladed knife and slice along the spine, and cut open the skin and remove all of the organs, cut the intestine and wrap it around their neck. then just leave them in the middle of the ocean, or if you arent scared,, in the bermuda triangle,

hey that got me thinking maybe you should do this all in the bermuda triangle, coz people dont go their because they never return, in a helicopter or something. \

This is coming from someone who has never hurt a fly, ... okay never hurt a bird...okay

Oh...well, of course, for me it's always chemicals. There's just so much you can do with the stuff to people...the desperation as they try to breath it out is very satisfying, since they're too busy with that to scream.

I'm going to suggest the power of suggestion actually. :)

Leaving a prisoner where he or she can hear things is oftentimes more powerful than breaking fingers for confessions. If you have his or her significant other place the victim where he can hear or see the other person getting tortured. If you don't have the SO, than place the victim where he can hear you talking about torture or how you had to clean the other prisoners off the cell walls or something.

For a torture that would eventually lead to death id have to say something medieval...such as...you strap the person down, and the place a red hot cage on their stomach trapping some rats beneath it; they dont touch the sides of the cage and they will chew through the person to get out...ouch...

Also, probabally any other medievil method lol...red hot poke down their throat...youchies...

Otherwise? Use whatever their afraid of against them, make them beg for death and dont ever give in.

you could just fake it, actually. put a sound file of someone being tortured onto a CD, and play it into the cell.
