Because we need this topic.

Anyway... I am Cate, or Caitlin if you prefer not to use nicknames. This is my second year trying to reach the magical five oh, and I got there last year. Of course, it's going to be a LOT harder this time because a) I'm at uni, b) I work too much, and c) I'm transplanting to a different country at the end of November for two months. I tend to be the person who always brings spare power adaptors and I plan to make lots of new friends this year, in both Adelaide and Orlando.

Hi. I'm new....... is there anyone in here?

I'm also writing 'on the move'. Adelaide to Young (NSW) and then San Francisco all between November 1 and 30.

I'm Linda and have just resigned my job and decided that after 50,000 words I probably won't go back

It's up to you. Personally, I don't bother because I'll just eat all the lollies in the month of October, and I don't drink coffee. Plus I'm naturally hyper, especially around Christina and Mel.

Hello for 2007!

I'm Red and this is my fourth year of doing Nano. Some I've won and some not. I'm really looking foward to this year's Nano (as always) and especially looking foward to meeting everyone and sharing some encouragement and laughter.

For those who do not know me, I'm a bit of a hermit who lives up in the Adelaide Hills and shares my home with my beloved yankie girl and my now teenaged daughter and multiple cats while guineapigs freerange in the garden.

Life is busy, unpredictable, disorganised and I love it!

What IS it about the approach of November that makes me so excited?!

Hi Red

How do the guinea pigs know to stay home?

Ahhh, that's what six foot high colourbond fencing is for - and the bribery of nightly grain and carrots!

*giggles myself silly at the thought of pole vaulting piggies*

Actually it's not the height of the fence that is important, it's how neatly it hugs the ground and how much gap their might be. Piggies do not dig and do not jump, but they can push their way through the smallest little gaps, and climb small distances (like a couple of bricks).

So the secret is all in the fencing...;)

I accidentally double posted thanks to a stutter of the mouse finger. And the forums don't seem to have a delete post option available, so now I have to write something inane or leave a double post.

*sighs*

New design is nice but will be glad when the bugs are out of it all.

Greetings, oh Nanoers. Wrazn, or Wraz, or maybe my real name if we meet at a meetup. This is my, er, 7th? (OMG wut) year of Nanowrimo. Unfortunately for me, every year Nanowrimo has coincided with papers, or final exams, or just the general vagaries of life. I have one successful (2004) set of 50,000 words, but given the chaos of my life most Novembers, I'm proud of all the words I have been able to spill.

This year, I'll be transiting between continents midway through November, which is fine with me, because then I'll be at home in Vancouver, and Mum and Dad can do the cooking. But I hope to be able to meet up with all y'all at least once before I go!

Whenever I post in the regional lounges, I don't even have an edit button. It's rather annoying because I'm the sort of person who makes a million spelling and grammar mistakes and doesn't check them over until after I've posted.

Hey all!

I'm Riverwings and if memory serves me correctly this is my third attempt at the five-oh. :D So far I have no idea what I'm going to be writing but I have faith something will come.

Are we going to be kicking off the Great NaNo Tour again this year or what? I vote HELL YES! XD

Hi, I'm CaiLing but I prefer Ling (either is fine though). This will be my first attempt at NaNoWriMo and I'm looking forward to it, I just hope I manage to come up with an idea for a novel by the end of the month. It won't be easy though, with uni assignments and other things.

Hi I'm Danae, call me Dan...

....this is my first NaNo... have been writing for ever, probably like most people here, but have managed to make all the excuses in the world for my lack of success at it (in spite of every teacher I ever had telling me I have it in me)... so I'm a self-confessed flake and this is rehab for me.

I do have one teeny excuse, or rather five excuses, in the form of my children, the youngest of which will be six months old in November and the oldest 14, all girls... they're all very suportive of my attempts at writing so I anticipate that during NaNo I will be presented with many cups of tea and toasties...

I look forward to meeting all of you, online or in person (I'm in Adelaide, around Norwood).

d :)

Hi,

I'm El and this is my fourth year. The sig tells the story.

I live in the North East suburbs, work in the city and share my world with husband, son and cat.

Looking forward to a very productive and hopefully fun November.

Hi everyone

I'm Denise, an almost-lawyer who is doing NANO for the second time this year. I live with my gorgeous partner, who is the real writer in the family and who has more enthusiasm for all things writing than I ever will (you'll obviously meet her around these parts), and our naughty but loveable cat, Frankie.

Hopefully this NANO will be a little less hectic, and a little more productive, for me than last year. I spent half of it doing exams and half of it at a work placement. This year, hopefully I'll be settled into a job and have plenty of time to write and attend write-ins and whatever else the MLs and everyone else have in store.

I'll hopefully see you all at gatherings - I'll be the one with the big bag of jelly beans and my poor almost-defunct laptop affectionately but unimaginatively known as Lappy.

I'm Chooky, aka Helen.
Last year I tried out Nano, and I loved it so much, I'm coming back for seconds. And this year I have a well planned story, not some idea I pulled out of my.... well at the last minute anyway.
My partner is the one that got me into Nano, hopefully she comes up with an idea before November.
And this year I have no procrastination excuses. No exams or studying. I'm not working in retail with the mad Christmas rush. I work a 9-5 job, so my evenings are free to write. I have a reliable laptop with a 2 hour battery life. I should get to the 50,000 this year, provided my brain doesn't fail me.
Hope to meet people at the pre-nano meet-up coffee celebration thingy.
Chooky

Hi all -this is my first year attempting this insanity, I've been using all kinds of excuses not to get on with my writing for a few years now and am hoping that feeling 'forced' to just get words on the page will push me back into it :)

The timing will be interesting - I'll just be finishing up the uni year in the first week, and will be about 5 months into a pregnancy that is draining ALL my energy at the moment, so my usual writing diet of red bull and coffee will have to be replaced...not quite sure how well that will work out, or what I can replace it with!

Oh and we're renovating our house, I'm the project manager and my partner's relying on me to be organising and arranging all of the contractors/builders during the day...(she works full time, I don't, it's a pretty fair arrangement)

And we have a 5 year old who requires a LOT of attention at the moment...
Yeah, writing a novel around all that should be interesting!

Look forward to having some company on this journey :)

Hi guys! I thought it was about time I wrote this thing out... so here it is!

My name's Christina (is it that obvious? <<;) and I'll be co-MLing this lovely region with my good friend, Mel aka Calliopes.sin. If you have trouble distinguishing us... just remember I'm the ML who can't say Municipal to save her life, and Mel is the one who will forever make fun of me for it.

I've only been a participant of this brilliant event since last year, and although it may not seem like a long time... I'm completely hooked. I managed to write a 65k novel, reaching the 50k goal within the first 14 days.

I'm currently a first year slave to Flinders, doing a double degree in Psychology and Arts. I'm 18... but please don't let that fool you. I promise to lead you through NaNoWriMo the best I can, with buckets and buckets of red frogs (trust me, better than coffee) and the best possible advice and encouragement.

I promise to be here for you guys as much as I can, so if you ever have any questions, please feel free to PM me (or Mel). I'm hoping to see some familiar faces as well some new ones at the kick off party and the write-ins. I'll attend as many as possible - because let's face it, they're basically my nano drug!

See you all around!

Hi! I'm Mel.
I'm one of your friendly Municipal Liasions. I'm co-ML with my buddy Christina, (queen.christina). I'm the ML that can say Municipal, so make sure you ask Christina what ML stands for! ;-)
I'm impressed that everyone has taken the plunge and has started to introduce themselves. I guess that means I should take the plunge too. :-)

I'm a returning wrimo, this will be my second year. Last year I reached 80k, the big 50k in the first 15 days. I'm cautiously optimistic that I can make it past 50,000 this year. Christina and I are aiming for 100k.

Currently I'm dragging myself out of the second semester slump of university at UniSA. I'm studying a degree in Psychology and my sub-major is Religion.
I'm a sugar addict. I don't really drink caffeine so I needed an addiction. I'm looking forward to write-ins. I find they help me write more, despite the talking. I'm eager to meet everyone and make November something exciting and productive! :-)

I'm sure you guys will do a good job of looking after all of us.

I'm Peter. This will be my 6th NANO.
I've found this event to be good for my writing, helping me understand that I can write whole books. It's a good starting point.

I'll try to make a meet up or two. Say hello.

I find that coffee isn't the wonder drug it pretends to be. Did a 3 day novel writing comp earlier in the year, which was a more intense version of NANO. Ended up with the shakes some time during day 2 and had to wind down from the caffine high. But then extreme lack of sleep might have had something to do with it.

Hi I'm Crashworth, I made friends (woo people I can argue with.) here last year so I have returned.

I'm currently working as an account clerk for a friends old man and argue and file for a living mostly.

This is my second year in which I've tried 50k words. I got snowed under with work commitments last year quarter through last . nov. Hopefully I can do it this year cause i no longer do back breaking labour for a living and have that much more energy. Hi to those that remember me.

Hi all,

I'm Tabby and this is my third Nano. Rocked it the first year, pushed through the pain up hill last year and this year is looking as though someone will have to drag me up that 50K mountain.

I love the meet ups and write ins, and hope to get to them all, but I have a family wedding on the 27th so the 28th may be a little difficult. I can't wait to meet all the newbies at the meetups this year - it was great meeting so many last year. Adelaide really does become quite bubbly and friendly during November doesn't it?

Good luck everyone... (I need all the luck I can get at this stage).
