Is anyone truly ready for this? I know I'm still looking for an idea for a novel after going through about 3 already.

Hey, I'm a newbie!! I'm down in Cedar City!! I hope I'm ready!! I probably won't get my idea until I sit down and start writing. Although I have been trying to think of some possible plots. So, all is not lost!!

Am I ready? Not. Except I did finally break down and get Baty's book, No Plot? No Problem! It's great fun, and BTW also has some good ideas. I've read up to the Week One entry, and can't wait to read that on Nov. 1. How about all of you?

I've been a lurker on NaNo for the past 3 years, but teaching college and getting students writing their research papers through November, and preparing them for finals right after November has always brought me to the point of giving up. What I've ended up with is three great ideas for novels (not sure about this year's yet), and a few chapters of each which I didn't even bother to post for word count. I'm ALL SET TO TRY HARDER, but have found this project fun and worthwhile, even though I've never finished. THIS IS THE YEAR!

I'll be ordering pizza from DK Pizza (formerly known as Big Daddy's). Mostly Pepperoni unless I get a general consensus on something else. They have /really/ good pizza, with a spicy tomato sauce.

Sounds great... I am working hard on getting a kick off party for the saint george area. Any ideas would be great. I have most everything planned out but if you would like to contribute anything just let me know. I will keep you updated one dates times and what events we will be doing.

3 weeks until November 1st!

Hey everyone! It's great to be back!!! btw, for anyone in the Cedar City area, we've got a few of us and I'd like to get us together for write-ins and stuff cause Provo's too far to go. Anyway, it's awesome to see all of you again, or for the first time. Happy writing!

Just saying hi to the ::elsewhere peeps. I bounced around in the ::Elsewhere area for quite a few years (4, I believe) but now I bought a house in Salt Lake so I'll be spending more time over on that board. Will hang out in here from time to time though to encourage you guys.

Thanks for the welcome! I just really hope my carpal tunnel doesn't get really bad doing this. I had to stop my current book for a couple weeks while it rested and healed, but I'm ready to push through any obstacles to get this one for the month finished by the end.

As long as you pull their average wordcount down.... ;)

Those that volunteer will be competing with those in salt lake for superior word counts. Its a group effort. The rules are over in the other thread. Are you still confused?

Hello! I'm a newbie to Utah, but this is my third year writing a novel (I managed 80,000 words in 2005, but only 20,000 in 2006 -- if you split the difference I won both years!) Unfortunately I won't be able to make the kick-off party, due to a previous engagement, but I'm looking forward to meeting ya'll in future get-togethers.

Utter and complete newb here. Truthfully, my only other serious writing effort was back in high school for my senior project. However, I learned about this on a different forum, and decided to give it a try.

I'm from Layton...stuck between SLC and Ogden, and as such...elsewhere.

Two days before the kickoff... I've got to be out of my mind. :P But I want to see if I can do this without my usual "audience" - I almost always have a writing buddy either in IM or on Google docs.

The idea I have - I just need to write it.

I'm in Orem and was surprised there wasn't a separate Utah county affiliate. But that's ok. We'll all keep each other company.

So this is my first time with NaNoWriMo and I already have the first 13 pages of my story written and I'm using this as incentive to finish the rest (3 a day during november is my goal). I've been told it's pretty decent so far, but I hate how I have no real way of telling, where should I post it to get feedback?

I went to Snow. Not there anymore, however. You should be able to post something in the humanities building if you're looking for fellow NaNoWriMo'ers.... There should be quite a few.

Ummm... hi. Now that I have recovered from a cold and am at least four days behind on homework for most of my classes, I am excited and ready to write. While catching up/staying on top of on my homework, working two part-time jobs, and helping take care of my six siblings. Oh, and getting proper amounts of sleep. I guess it's a good thing that I don't have a boyfriend.

Just wanted to say a quick hello to my fellow Utahns! My name's Chelsea, but the cool kids call me Chels.

This is my first NaNoWriMo and something I was encouraged to participate in from family and friends. Hopefully they'll also be good at nagging me to get off my xbox and be totally proactive about this (though I really am sure I can motivate myself this time, I never need an excuse for writing, but it's fantastic to have one!) I'm excited to try it out.

Normally I write poetry, (I know, I know, I hear the collective groan, but I give it my best effort toward not sucking and I've been writing it for nearly a decade now) but I wanted to branch out into prose, especially fiction, as novels are my favorite kind of book to snuggle with.

Anyway, holla to the Orem/Provoites.

Hooray it's November!

Hello everyone, newbie here and loving it. I feel almost guilty to say -- this is the first time ever in my attempts at completing a novel that I've felt hopeful to reach THE END. In the past I've deleted so many hours of work that I could never go forward, and I abandon it...

So far my story still feels good even though there are parts where I think, preposterous! But isn't that what fiction is all about, making the impossible seem possible? Anyway...rock on everyone!
