I'm thinking that for part of the plot of my novel, I'll need a good and detailed explanation of Big Bang theory. I have only a limited understanding of what exactly it involves, but every time I try to look up anything more than "the universe exploded," it's in such detailed terminology that I can't understand what anyone's talking about. Can anyone help me?

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but it's long and involved and has a whole lot of big words. :-)

This site might help. They also have an 'Ask a Question' page to supply more questions.

You might want to catch the History Channel special "Beyond the Big Bang". It should show sometime in November, or you can catch part of it on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSZqhqR5XKM

I recommend watching the History channel's program "The Universe - Beyond the Big Bang". You can probably find parts of it on YouTube, and I know there was a site earlier on last week that had it up, but for the life of me I can't find it now. Anyway, it's a very good intro to the big bang theory and so forth. Good luck with your research.
