Hey everyone-
I'm a day late *gasp* but I made it and WHOOHOO!!! Its NANOTIME!
So - Introduce yourself- let me know who you are so that I can be a fabulous ML and include you in all the cool activities that we will be having throughout the month of nano-

Man! It feels great to be back.
November- BRING IT ON!

EDIT/
Ok- since we havent had much response yet- and I have had to confirm our venue to secure-

Sunday, 28th October- 3pm at Ikhaya Lodge at Dunkley square in town. http://www.ikhayalodge.co.za/index.html
directions found here: http://www.ikhayalodge.co.za/location.html

It promises to be a great afternoon of getting to know the writers in our group- meeting old writerbuddies from last year and also being an afternoon, should be convenient for everyone. They have great food, snacks and tapas available if anyone comes hungry and a bar . Its also all ages friendly with a comfortable lounge area, and a great view of the mountain.
Please let me know if you are coming so that I can confirm approximate numbers. I will be at Ikhaya from 2:30 pm to secure our spot and welcome you all- remember you have to come to meets to get your nanowrimo goodies!!

Why are we the only ones here?
Did no-one get the memo that I'm supposed to be the latest person here?
Do I *have* to die for that to be true?

Oh my sweet fear... Im so excited/scared about Nano this year. My first time doing it and i can just tell its going to be freakishly insane on my (so called)(ok,non existant) social life and mental health. These are good things! I like nothing more than a good dose of insanity.
But yes, Ive also been really clever on deciding to do this while working for my brother. Behind door 1) money, job. Behind door 2) most probably an unfinished book., insanity. Oh oh, ill choose door number 1 because im special!

moonblue waves from the far reaches of the eastern cape. It looks like I am going to be in Cape Town for a few days mid November. Dates still pending. But if you are having any sort of get togethers I would love to try and get to one. How often do you meet up during the month?

Yo everyone.
I'm gonna hang around this forum a bit, if that's cool. I'm a Capetonian through and through, but I'm living in Japan right now. If anyone wants any info on Japanese anything, gimme a shout. Likewise, my novel is set in Cape Town and if there are any locations or bits and pieces that have gone fuzzy over the last year and a half, I might ask you to refresh my memory.

See you around.

Hello all...

Another virgin here, hope you don't have a quota on those.

I'm currently in Jo'burg and will only be in Cape Town (where I intend to spend the rest of November) at the end of next week, so I'll miss the party unfortunately. Hopefully another one is not too far away.

Keep well and hopefully see you soon!
Luke

I should be there, provided nothing terrible happens... like my dad forgetting that he agreed to take me.
Hope to see everyone!

Another Cape Town n00b. Only discovered this at 09h30 this morning. Had signed up by 10h00. If you happen to see my sanity lurking anywhere, please let me know. The little sod has run off again!

Can't make the opening function, but definitely plan to attend whatever "Thank God It's Over" party happens in December. Hopefully with a minimum of 50,000 words writen. Now if only I had a plot..... or characters.... or genre....

Hi all, here for another dose of insanity, and hopefully this time finishing. I only have one full time job this year so it should be a breeze . My main competition to my time for Nano, is that I have found a dirty hobby, Online poker, and I am very hooked. Although that was when I had my free bonuses to play with :)

After the last few weeks playing poker, at least my body is used to the ludicrously little amount of sleep that I am likely to get this next month and all I am concerned about is if I am going to be able to get some poke in as well. Oh well I can in the story I guess :-) I am working on Sunday until 5, in town, so I will most likely not be able to make it, but as I am so near, I will try get permission to leave at 4, then rush there. The other thing, is of course that on my weekends, when I am off, I now have my daughter, so that is also, a major chunk out of my nano time. I guess the late night is the time for writing....

God luck all, hope I get to meet you during the month...

Welcome to the insanity, to the virgins, hope breaking it does not hurt to much...unless that is what you are after.

enjoy

Ok, Here I am. Virgin Novelist. I think I've got a good story brewing in the deep recesses of my mind, but I'll be likely to bollocks it up though, since the biggest thing I've written since high school english essays is blog posts, however I've already committed myself to writing for 2 hours everyday for the whole 30 day period. Suffice it to say I'm a little apprehensive about it :P

Hahaha- immolin I thought you were telling me I was jealous because I couldn't hear the voices, thereby implying that I should have telepathically known all this was happening... then I figured out that was your signature :) well lets hope I start hearing plenty of voices when i start writing tomorrow! 1667 words a day... should be interesting at the very least.

(Actually no... it could end up being incredibly boring given that I've become fixated with the theme of Disavowal and how it plays out in the lives of the bored and middle-class of South Africa. But hey, if Disgrace could make it, why can't I right...)

(That's the part where you all nod enthusiastically and pat me on the shoulder in an encouraging manner)

I've realised that my sig now attaches sommer anywhere in the text- adds a bit of manic twist I like to think.

Ok I'll stop now.

I have only just discovered this, this morning. Courtesy of Facebook. So I'm here, in Cape Town, getting started and would love to meet all the rest of you and so on. Now, if only I could come up with a plot...
