There were no topics in our region so far so I thought I would start:

What should we call you?
Have you done NaNoWriMo before?
What is your Novel going to be about (Titles, Genres, Plot)?
What part of Orange County do you live in?
What else should we know about you (Job, School,...anything)?

Okay, then. I think I'll start. Here are some answers in order...

I'm dejalemming, but most folks jsut call me Cori.

This will be my fifth NaNo year, and hopefully my fourth win in a row.

I'm still deciding between two plots. I'm torn between a conspiracy-theory plot and a realistic fiction plot. I usually stick to the dark realistic fiction, although I sometimes dabble (unsuccessfully) in fantasy.

I'm north county (I think). I'm somewhere. Most of the time.

I'm currently a first-year grad student in English, and I'm trying to get one of my professors on board with NaNo this year. I'm in over my head with the grad program, but they tell me it gets better. I certainly hope so; I hate feeling like I'm lagging behind.

I think that's about it. I suppose there's more (there always is), but at the moment, I've got to get back to reading Faulkner. Nothing says uplifting like a writer whose works can best be described by the quote "Rocks fall; everyone dies."

I was going to post my response earlier, but things got in the way so here it is now.

I am TheOneBlueGecko, but my name is Valerie so if you want you can call me Val.
I first did NaNoWriMo and won. I am doing it again this year and will hopefully have time to finish again. I never actually went to any regional events last year, but this year, as long as I am free I plan on going to at least some.
My Novel is going to by a Science Fiction/ Fantasy type novel. Involving a person going on an adventure of discovery that involves the bedtime stories his mother told him as a child. That might not make any sense written down write here, but it does in my head.
I live in South Orange County
I am currently going to UCI to get my teaching credential to teach Junior High science, and am hoping that I will have enough time to write my novel between classes and papers and observations.

1. Hi I'm Cassidy, some friends call me 'emocass' for no apparent reason other than me liking angst a little, because I'm not emo. If I was, I'd be the most happy emo alive.
2. This is my first NaNoWriMo and I'm excited!
3. I actually have NO plot whatsoever, but I have developed a few characters. It will be realistic fiction. Maybe a little dark. I'm not sure. No title either, because I'm horrible at choosing titles.
4. uh, Laguna Niguel. I have no idea if it's N/S/E/W.
5. I go to school. 8th Grade. Having a heated debate with myself over what high school i want to go to, either a school with all my friends, or a performing arts school. I love the musical RENT. My blog is spicyramennoodle.blogspot.com and I have almost 300 songs on my green iPod 2nd gen nano. That's enough useless info. Bye.

1. My penname is Henry Tippe, though I go by my real name, Phillip, on occasion.

2. Unfortunately last year, I did not do NaNoWriMo, because I was busy, so this would be my first year.

3. This year, I am going to write about a murder, a prophecy, and race through a European mountainside town to stop an ancient sacrifice.

4. I live in the Anaheim/Fullerton area of Orange County.

5. I like: Heroes, Oliver Boyd and the Rememberalls, and Harry Potter.

What should we call you? Catherine does it :)
Have you done NaNoWriMo before? Not officially 'though I've used it as motivation.
What is your Novel going to be about (Titles, Genres, Plot)? My official NaNo novel is a fantasy called 'Tribes of the Pagani'. It's a pre-apocalyptic novel from the perspective of the Pagan people (Paganism never died out and has in recent years come under fire from the Dominionists, an extreme branch of Judeo-Christianity that seeks to actively bring about Judgement Day). If I sell it and it does okay, then I'll be working on the Apocalyse and post-apocalyptic books.

I'm also working on two middle-grade fantasy books -- 3 & 4 in a series that my ed/publisher has hopefully sold to Harper-Collins. (My ed's house publishes in conjunction with others). They are only 25,000 each though.

What part of Orange County do you live in? Irvine...which is 'interesting'.

What else should we know about you (Job, School,...anything)? I'm an Aussie transplant. I homeschool my twin 5-yr-old daughters (they're doing Grade 1/2). I have a 6-mth-old daughter as well.

Every year I do NaNo I promise myself I'll use the forums more, but inevitably they end up scaring me (it took me a few minutes to even remember how to reply in a thread) but here's for trying again!

I'm Kate. My real name is longer but it's way too common and everyone spells it with about six y's and a k, which saddens me.

I've done NaNo for two years, and won both times! It would have been three but I passed it up my freshman year of college because I thought I'd be swamped with homework. Looking back, I still could have done it.

My novel is part of a six-novel series I've been working on for three years. Two of them I've written for NaNo and one I wrote when I was not doing NaNo. It's sci-fi/steampunk-but-in-the-future-and-not-Victorian-age...ish.

I live right in Orange, among the millions of antique shops and no orange trees at all.

Currently giving my soul to Chapman University (my last year!). I'm planning to deny grad school and move somewhere where seasons actually exist, hole myself up and write things and send them off until someone takes me seriously.

What should we call you? - Shayna is fine.

Have you done NaNoWriMo before? - Nope.

What is your Novel going to be about (Titles, Genres, Plot)? - Realistic fiction, I guess. No title yet. The main character dies in the first chapter, and we get to know her through the eyes of her friends and family. She's rather complicated and I'm interested to see what kind of a person she was, and how her loved ones deal with the loss of her presence in their world.

What part of Orange County do you live in? - North HB.

What else should we know about you (Job, School,...anything)? - I am a mom, wife, first-grade teacher, marathoner (also training for an ultramarathon which will take place at the end of December!), former coffee addict (although, I guess I'm probably always an addict, just not using it???), and an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics! I'm looking forward to adding "Novelist" to that list!

First of all, Catherine: hey, good to see another homeschooler! My mom taught me from K5 all the way through senior year. Was great, got a terriffic education!

Now, onto the introductions:

What should we call you? Joi. I'm not fond of my screen name, but I'm stuck with it. Yargh.

Have you done NaNoWriMo before? this is my 4th year! I've won twice before, and am currently rewriting last year's book in hopes of publication.

What is your Novel going to be about (Titles, Genres, Plot)? sci-fi fantasy, a 200,000 year history of this one planet. The heroine is constantly being reincanted in different places and times, being chased by an evil consciousness-stealing historian from the future.

What part of Orange County do you live in? Brea! I work in Fullerton, and go to church in Placentia.

What else should we know about you (Job, School,...anything)? Um, graduated from a great books program at a university in La Mirada, currently work for the Red Hat Society, which I love...Addicted to reading, especially classic sci-fi and fantasy. LOVE Babylon 5.

So, are we going to have some local write-ins??????

Hi, I'm Storm Dream, but call me Suz. I've done NaNo since '02, and mostly succeeded with it; one alternate history, one post-apocalyptic zombie tale, one sci-fi, and one straight-up fantasy. I think there was only one I didn't finish.

I have no idea what I'm going to do this year. I have a few ideas percolating, but I'm sure it will be down to the wire as to which one I decide to work on. Currently it's between the paranormal and an urban fantasy.

I live in Santa Ana; just moved here in August. I lived in Glendora (SGV) prior to that, and the Bay Area before, so I really don't consider myself an "OC-er" yet, but here I am. I work as a copy editor at two magazines and graduated from college in '06.

Nice to meet you all. :)

My name is Christiana, but Ana or Tiana is fine.

Have you done NaNoWriMo before?
Last year, but due to some unforeseen circumstances I only made it through the first week, I'm hoping that something like what happened last year will never happen again.

What is your Novel going to be about?
I actually have NO IDEA.

What part of Orange County do you live in?
Waaaaaaaaay, North, so North, I'm 15-30 minutes (depending on traffic) south of downtown L.A. I live in a tiny place called Hacienda Heights, (Monster considers me Orange County, so here I am).

What else should we know about you?<./b>
I graduated from UCSB and now am living at home and looking for a job.

1. My name is Danielle and I come in peace.
2. I've done NaNo for the past two years, and last year I won. Yays, NaNoWriMo!
3. You know. . .I'll get back to you on that one.
4. I live in Irvine, right by UCI.
5. Because trying to write 50,000 words in 30 days isn't enough fun, this year I'll be doing battle against all my college applications, as well as writing my Next Great American Novel. I have a NaNoWriMo poster on my bedroom wall, and a NaNoWriMo shirt, and an iPod named Chester Talleyrand.

Hi I'm Talamh, You can call me Tal or Corey I really don't care either way.
Have you done NaNoWriMo before?
Nope
What is your Novel going to be about (Titles, Genres, Plot)?
So far the title is "Without the Words" but I may change it depending on my mood. Its in the fantasy young adult genre; its basically about these two earth elementals trying to integrate themselves into modern society.
What part of Orange County do you live in? I
Irvine! I'm actually a 3rd year at UCI right now so it should be fun balancing Nano and classes.
What else should we know about you (Job, School,...anything)?
If you happen to see a guy typing like a madman and swearing under his breath on campus, stop by and say hello.

hello...

I am called k-lee.

I have never done NaNoWriMo before. This is my first attempt. I am extremely excited; I had heard about it before but suddenly got this unavoidable urge to actually do it, in some random month earlier this year (I want to say March). I read No Plot, No Problem and then went around telling everyone I know about it. "Guess what? I'm going to be a novelist."

I have absolutely no idea what my novel will be about. I see from other people's posts that it's not uncommon to have at least an idea at this point. I think I was holding myself too strictly to the "don't plan until a week before" rule. Maybe I will let my brain start thinking now.

I live in south Orange county.

I went to UC Irvine and finished with my BA in English. I now work at a book publishing company (no, we don't do fiction).

Onward to November!!!!!!!

Hello everyone!

What should we call you?
You can call me Shelby. Digory is my boy beagle, named after Professor Digory Kirke from the Chronicles of Narnia. Scout is my girl beagle named after Scout Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird.

Have you done NaNoWriMo before?
I have not, although I've considered it. I think one year I procrastinated so much it was the third week in November before I got around to looking into how to sign up. Figures.

What is your Novel going to be about?
Stuff. With the things. There's this girl, and also this guy, and they do stuff with the things. I have no idea.

What part of Orange County do you live in?
Disneyland! 2 miles away, actually, in Anaheim

What else should we know about you (Job, School,...anything)?
Let's see, I have a bachelor's degree in English and I have master's degree in English with a dual emphasis in children's literature and technical writing. I've written two YA novels, both mercifully unpublished. In my secret former life I was a technical writer at IBM. I currently work at Build-A-Bear Workshop in Downtown Disney.

I also have this novel I'm writing and have been writing for almost 4 years. I have 6 chapters to go on it. Here's the crazy thing. I really want to do NaNo this year but I can't abandon my CN (Current Novel--description, not title), so I've decided to only do NaNo if I finish the CN. Therefore I have declared October to be LoNoFiMo, or Local (my house) Novel Finishing Month. Wish me luck!

What should we call you?
- I'm generally known as "girl with a puck", and despite the public penname of "Christy Finn" (aka Finny), people who know me call me Charity

Have you done NaNoWriMo before?
- I've tried. And failed. Twice.

What is your Novel going to be about (Titles, Genres, Plot)?
- No idea yet. Probably young adult/teen fiction with a tendency to lean towards the romantic. Or, you know, maybe I'll write romance. Or chick lit. Or chick lit young adult/teen romance.

Something like that.

I've got four characters and their personalities. I just don't have their problems... yet.

What part of Orange County do you live in?
- Technically, I don't. I just work/go to school/hang out in/around Fullerton/Brea/Anaheim/there-abouts more than I go to my actual home and collapse--I mean, sleep.

What else should we know about you (Job, School,...anything)?
- I work at Cal State Fullerton full-time (staff, not faculty). I am a graduate student studying English, but that's about to end as I think I will attempt to pursue an MFA in creative writing elsewhere (maybe; or I just might decided to go back to junior college and take random classes for fun). In my "spare" time, I'm often partaking of some sorority event or other, a Ducks hockey game, reading, writing, watching tv/movies, and blogging.

Hello! *waves madly*

You can call me EOTD, or Wyatt, whichever's easier. I've intended to do NaNo twice before, but never really started. And last June's Script Frenzy attempt didn't go much better. T_T

I've got several ideas floating around at hte moment, but I have yet to decide on one.

I go to school (and live on-campus) at UC Irvine - second-year, undecided but minoring in linguistics. (Yay for all the Irvine people! We all need to meet somewhere - maybe at the fancy new student center.) When I'm not at school, I live in Orange, just off the main drag of north Chapman.

Howdy guys,

I just wanted to say that I'm no longer a co-ML in O.C. Tear. The short story was: I came up mid-June for summer due to family stuff, and then over the summer my preschool closed (which I wasn't expecting.), so.... what was supposed to be 2 months is now... I don't know. That's why you haven't seen me all in "ML!" mode because this year I am up in Running Springs with the prospect of snow (they're comparing this year to 1972 when a storm dropped 6 feet of snow-you walked out onto your porch and there's a wall of snow- and then the next day it rained like 10 inches, which created slush.) in November and I kinda' don't want to drive up and down the hill for write ins. Sorry... I don't know where the other co-MLs are, the plan for write-ins, or what not. I can tell you on Friday nights (only night it's open. Half the places here aren't open during the week.) at the Coffee Shop (that's the name) in Running Springs, write-in and bear sightings. That's what we call a party.

Anyhoo good luck everyone, you guys will do well.
Kim

What should we call you?
You can just call me SpreadLight. That's the name I prefer here :) Although goodness knows I go by many other names as well.

Have you done NaNoWriMo before?
Nope. This is my first time--*excited!*

What is your Novel going to be about?
I'm debating with three different ideas, but I think right now I'm going with the YA fantasy idea about three teens living in a land ruled by an evil secret society that hides it's sinister-ness so well that almost no one knows the danger their country is in. So then the teens, of course, must find some way to defeat the organization in order to "save" their world and so on and so forth. I know, I know. It sounds cliched--I'm working on it :)

What part of Orange County do you live in?
The south!

What else should we know about you?
Umm...I like music? I play it, and I listen to it--I prefer traditional classical music, generally, but there are some Disney songs and Broadway musical songs that I like, too. (such as "Reflection" from Mulan, "Angel of Music" from Phantom of the Opera, "On My Own" from Les Miserables, etc). And I have never finished a novel-length story, so I'm crossing my fingers this year--any advice/inspiration/insight anybody'd like to share? I need all the help I can get ;)
Oh, and my b-day's in November, so that plus NaNo and Thanksgiving makes November my favorite month!

Charity: You're in the department too? Yay, a familiar face (so to speak). I just started the program this semester, and it's been... different. I'm a little worried about doing NaNo this year, but I'm hoping getting some of the faculty hooked on it will help.
