If so...how about:
A comely 35 year old librarian who owns a private collection of books which transports people to other worlds. The only problem is that time doesn't stand still and the time you're gone = time you spent elsewhere. That and the fact that the librarian is very tetchy. :)

Neither knows the other exists until they both join an underground organization fighting for people's protection from crazy magical critters that have been running around. Oh, and once they realize what they are, they can use their old scars to re-conjoin. Girl can work slight magic. Both can see into the other's mind and feel each other's pain, but the girl, being more sensitive, is much better at that.
