So how many Hoosiers are weighing in from the Lafayette area?
I hail from Attica, but basically the only thing I do here is sleep. All of my other activities take place in Lafayette.

Anyone else? There must be a few of you lurking out there somewhere...

I'm in Lafayette right now. I did this last year and it was an abysmal failure but I was thinking I'd try it for real this time. =)

While I live in Ohio, Lafayette is home. This is the first time I will be attempting to write a novel in a month. We shall see how it goes. Nice to meet some fellow, writing Hoosiers from Lafayette.

Good luck to you!

I am checking in from Stumptown-not that anybody there knows where it is, most likely. I went to Morton Elementary school in 1956, I think. I lived on Vine street just behind the EUB Church which is now a UMC. I have done this every year from '03 and the last couple of years have used Kokomo as a setting. Not that I have much of a memory of having ever been there but once when I was 5 to see Snow White. My mom came from Williamsport, so that is the part of Indiana I remember best, and a bit of Attica. I recall the way the Wabash, in the spring would flood and cover the bridge, sometimes pushing it up off the pillars with ice. I still have nightmares about that river and its floods. I usually do nano in less than 21 days. Last year in just 19 and I hope I can do it again. Planning gets done for the next day, the night before. The last time I was in Williamsport must have been in 1983 to see my grandmother. I haven't been back, to stay since.... but I do lurk on the web to see what is going on. Part of me is always there and there be days that I long to go back to a smaller town than the huge city I am living in now. I will begin my next nano in Indiana. Perhaps in a wild canoe ride over the Williamsport falls in the summer....I know, it will have no water-that is why it is wild, but half way down the canoe is met by a purple space beam and the canoeists are pulled into the desert of another and distant place. You see? Here it is, leaving Indiana again!
Well. Just wanted to say hello. and if you think you or your relative went to school with me-say hi.

I'm in the nowhere between Darlington and Linden, right on Little Potato Creek! I'll be casting my lot with the Lafayette for the third year. This is definitely (well, almost definitely...definitely probably) my year to hit the 50,000 word mark!

*waves to everyone*

Anyone interested in getting together for a kick-off party? I know the Purdue group has been talking about having some kind of party - maybe we could have a 'joined forces' party. It sounds like they're talking possibly going to Panera's on Wabash Landing or Borders. Since we don't have an ML, planning seems to be somewhat scattered at this point.

Hey y'all. I am originally from Oxford which is about 20 miles west of west lafayette. Right now I am at school at ISU in Terre Haute getting my BS in english, which is where I will be doing most of my writing except for Thanksgiving Break at which point I'll be home then! I have never done this before. I have actually never finished writing a novel, so we will see! I actually got drug into this by my older sister b/c it seemed like a great and fun thing!

I've lived in Tippecanoe County all my life, with a Lafayette address at the moment but I'm familiar with the many small towns around.

I joined very late last year so I wasn't overly productive. I'll be on vacation the first 2 weeks of this one with borrowed computer access only - so we'll see what happens.

I grew up in Tippecanoe County; lived there my entire life until I finished college. Now I live in southern Indiana, but my parents still live there. My two oldest children are hoping to attend Purdue in 2010 and fall of 2013:)

This is my 1st time on NaNo, althought I have 2 books published, one of which is being released sometime this month.

Also hailing from Lafayette, only lived here 4 months (after I got married), but I've lived in White County, and previously Jasper County, all my live before then. I'm a rookie, and dismally bad at finishing projects I start, so wish me much luck!

Lafayette native reporting a little late. I try to stay away from the forums the first week or so of NaNo, to force myself to stay on track. Boilermaker born and bred in Lafayette, all 31 years. If anyone attended Ivy Tech here in the last couple years, you may have met me, I was the bookstore cashier supervisor for two years. I'm still around, just have a different job there.

yes, congratulations. This is my 5th win, finished the 50K in 13 days and just kept going adding and expanding, not too much editing. I am planning a rewrite-to see if I can get this one a bit more developed and contest ready at some time.

My Hoosier connection is from Williamsport. my grandfather had a business there for many years. So the town has many memories of youth. Attica I have been to, but have not been there in years. I am thinking I may have to come back there one day and touch base....but it is not an easy thing to do.

I looked at some of you blog and enjoyed the photos. I have been interested in pin hole for years, but have never done anything with it.

Are there any sites where I can find some photos of Attica, just so see what time has done with the town? I was last through there in 1983 and Google maps is only from the satellite: suggestions?

Phoebe (this is a moon, but I use it as a pen name because I like to write Romance and I am very much male.)

Good for you! Good job!

I grew up in West Point, right next to Attica, right on the county line in fact. IF you do an image google search of Attica, IN, you'll find links to lots of blogs and city landmarks: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=attica+indiana&gbv=2
I haven't been there this past year but I seem to remember a landmark business building burning down last year. It's cleaned up a lot over the years. I haven't been to Williamsport for a few years either....still a very small town.

I call West Lebanon home, but really don't want to be here. -sigh- Oh, well. I guess that's life.
