Can't believe it's less than a month before November... again!
Hope to have a lot of great write-ins again this year. Anyone have any news on kick-off parties yet?

This is my first NaNoWriMo, so I'm just introducing myself. I live in Delaware County, but I'd be interested in networking with those in the area. I'll keep checking the forums for news on local get-togethers. Look forward to chatting with you. - Carl

Hey Katrina! I'm totally excited for this year, and looking forward to the meet-ups and write-ins! :) No news that I've heard yet, though.

This is my first NaNo and am excited to get started in November. Time will be an issue, but I assume it will be for almost all of us.
I am watching the Phillies losing right now. :( I am just excited that they are in the playoffs because it has been such a long time. '93 was a great season.

Is Gilbertsville too far out to join the Philadelphia group? First time participant here. Any advice?

This will be my third NaNoWriMo experience.
However, the day before the fun begins, I'm closing on a new house, and as of November 1, I'll be in Blue Bell, PA.
Is this still part of the "Philadelphia" group, or do I need to go looking for Blue Bell NaNoWriMoers?

Wheee, newbies! ^^
*lost everyone's name already* But to those asking if they're too far away, I tried to do Philly last year, and I'm in Lancaster (well, Millersville, but what's 5 minutes?) I think I'll be sticking to Lancaster this year, though.

Very exciting...
Yet so nervous and I don't know why!
First timer here as well. Several of my friends have participated in the past but I never thought to join myself. Don't know why. Now I actually have a story looming in my head that is demanding it be put to paper so I guess I have no choice! Heh.
Anyway, I'm in Deleware County as well, Havertown to be exact. I have no clue what I'm doing. lol. Good luck and happy writing!

Hey all! This is my first Nano too, and I'm already worried about not having enough time. But hey, we can all join in the misery that is procrastination! Right now I should be doing a Chem essay, but o well. I live in Wayne, so I figure thats close enough to Philly. Hope we all can get together sometime, if not for a kick-off party then maybe for the TGIO party...? I dunno if there's a ML around here to arrange that stuff though. Well, good luck to y'all! <--don't ask, I have a Southern accent when I speak for some reason, even though I've never been down South.
Sucks about the Phillies doesn't it...

Heyhey, guys. This is my second NaNo...hopefully no emergencies will come up this year which cause me to withdraw before the end of the month.
I have an idea for a kickoff party, if anyone is interested. There is a 24 hour diner on 39th and Walnut (and a few in center city that I don't know the exact locations off the top of my head). We could all get together and have a Halloween/costume party and then start writing like crazy at midnight. Its just a thought because it'll at least keep my friends from dragging me to Nocturne where I most definitely won't get any writing done.

Hi!
Second year Nano, here. Didn't win last year--topped out at 12,500 words. It wasn't the everyday writing thing, it was the volume that caught me. I kept circling back and editing instead of pushing onward. At the end of three hours, I'd have 500 words down. No way gonna make 50K that way.
OTOH, that 12K start morphed into something else, a piece I've been working on since July.
So this year I get to try to wrap that up by November 1 in order to devote November to the next one.
Wheee!

Hello everyone! I thought I'd stop by and introduce myself. This is my first NaNo after hearing about it for a couple of years from friends of mine. I'm out in Delaware County. I actually just closed on a new house myself back in September and moved from Upper Darby to Yeadon. I'm lovin the new house and being in a house vs an apartment has been amazing for getting back into my creative hobbies. I hope to do well once the writing gets started and look forward to participating in various events/activities!

Hi all! I'm a newbie....and I live in Malvern, PA. I'm 24 and a nanny for four children there.
A coincidence...my name is also Katrina, though I usually go by Trina. I'm looking forward to racing with you all!

Hi KatrinasForest!! Long time no talk! I hope to participate this year, but my foot is sprained, which is supposed to limit my driving, which means my write-in participation SHOULD be limited. However, I probably won't let that stop me anyway. :)
Hi cirobi and cbussler/Carl and nocturnaldragon/Stevie - I'm in delaware county too. :)

psh. plot, what is that?
'ello, I'm Kit and this will be my first time joining in on this self-inflected, mass suffering that is called NaNoWriMo. I'd love to come to any kick-offs or write-ins (also dragging along any friends that are fellow victims of the writing bug) although as I have no car (darn collegeness) I'll probably be hard-pressed to get anywhere that isn't accessible by train and/or walking...
If Jackie (fellow victim/friend) has any say in things, we'll probably walk for hours just to get to a kick-off party though.
We're weird.
I suppose you have to be to willingly do this though. Nice to meet you all :3

Hello to all my Philly counterparts... I work in Fort Washington but live up in Souderton and although I won't be able to make it to any Philly write-ins, I just wanted to stop by and wish you all good luck and if you can't make it to the Philly write-ins but live in and around the Central Bucks/Montco areas... some of us are going to try to meet up at the Panera Bread in the Airport Square shopping center a few times in November. Stop by the other areas thread to see when we'll meet up!
Take care!

I'm another one in Delaware County (Chadds Ford, to be exact). Actually, I'm still in denial that I live in Pennsylvania at all, and that's why you'll also find me in the Delaware forums.
This is my first NaNo, and I'm understandably nervous as hell. As much as I'd love to be a part of write-ins and meet-ups, I'm... well, thirteen.
Heh.

This is my first NANO and I am stoked with the challenges that lay ahead. I am not sure how this all works, though i am reading through the site and the forums. I will say that i am scoping out some places to write besides home (the Free Library of Philadelphia and Borders on Chestnut Street will be my biggest haunts). However, I am excited and looking forward to this exciting venture.

Hi everyone! This is my third year, and I'm still excited, nervous, and without a plot! It always seems to work out, though...
I live near Jenkintown - I'm hoping we will be able to do some Jenkintown/Willow Grove meet-ups.
KlingonGuy, congrats on your new home!

I thought I had replied to this thread already... weird... (That's what I get for opening too many tabs in Firefox at once.)
Hi Amy! I'm so sorry to hear about your foot. :( *sends feel better prayers your way* Well, I guess that means we'll just all have to come over to your place then! (I'm kidding! I'm kidding!) Hopefully we'll get to see you at some point this month. If not, we can always chat online.

Hi! My boyfriend pointed me in the direction of this site. I have had this idea for a novella for AGES and this seems like the perfect time to really work it out. B/c I am just using excuses and I really need to find out once and for all if it was ever meant to be a long-form story.
I tried it as a comic book and poems too.
Anyhow, my name is Mary and i live near the zoo. I'm 27 and obsessed with star wars, harry potter, and movie memorabilia and replicas. I write a column about pop culture and comic books for hiddenrobot.com. I will be documenting this 1st go-round of writing a novel in a month in my column.
NICE TO MEET YOU ALL!!! Good luck you lucky people!

HI Guys,
This is my second year of Nanowrimo in the city. Had a gret time meeting up with folks last year and hope to do it again this year. The friendly competition really helps the fingers fly. I am a center city fellow from 'round the Rittenhouse Sqr neighborhood.
I finished last year and didn't write a single word of the book inside my apartment. Last November I becasme addicted to writing and to Cafe Americanos. Sadly on the latter addiction retained its full force.
Places I like to write in:
Tuscany cafe on Rittehouse Sqr
Borders on Broad and Chestnut
Barnes and Noble on 18th and Walnut
Doubleshots in Old city (they have copious outlets)
Anyway I wish you all the best of luck; have an awesome Halloween and I hope to see you at some write ins.

How did I miss this thread? Huh.
Anyway, hi everyone, I'm Dandelion Gal (aka Tasha) and I did NaNo last year for the first time. It was jolly good gonzo writing fun. Can't wait to start again this year.
I posted a new thread about how much we need a Municipal Liaison to take the reins and direct our wagon... 'cause I don't think we have one.
Can someone please be our Yoda? 'Cause write-ins, need we.

Hi. I'm Joan. As you'll see by my information, I live in southern NJ, but Philly meet-ups are probably closer for me than anything the Southern NJ group will arrange. I work at Temple University, so Philly is also more convenient for me.
This is my first time trying this. I've never done a novel before. Usually my work is articles (indoor air quality, ergonomics) or flash stories. I'm quite nervous about it all, but in a good way! I'm really looking forward to this, and can't wait to start.

Hello Philadelphia, this is my third year at NaNo, except this time I'm actually going to succeed because my character has finally found his niche in the world of the novel.
I'm in University City, attending college at USP, so anyone in the area that's looking for a write-in, let me know.
