Well, I'm no ML (I would have applied, but I can't drive) but I figured I'd start the Johannesburg group thread! Everyone from Jozi (and surrounds?) come and make yourselves known! Let's have a party this year!!!

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT AND I WORK 10 HOURS A DAY EVERY DAY.

Me no can take on ML this year; too much other stuff going on :(
But meetings sound like fun, and we certainly had a blast at them last year!
Anyone wanna kidnap Pen and bring her back here to get things going ?

Hey peoples! It's so good to see you all here and waiting for another year! Still hoping we can find ourselves an ML, otherwise we'll just have to do things ourselves I guess!
*HUGE MASSIVE HUGS TO EVERYONE* Love you all!

"The surrounds" checking in.
I can semi-assist, but my powers would be largely diluted unless anyone wants to get together over weekends. As I've also said before, I don't know a thing about Jozi (other than it's a scary, scary, evil place and if you go there you will die! according to my mom), so I’d be absolute pants at making any decisions on where to go.
I would love to have a kick-off party, though. I don’t expect the PTA numbers to be very different than last year, when we had all of 3 people participating.

Glad to see some new faces, and thrilled to see a few seasoned veterans. Anyways, I'm back for some more key hitting, thumb blistering, coffee injection nights. I just hope this year I can keep up to the blistering pace that some of you girls set last year.

Hi All
Never tried nanowrimo before- I do think I have gone a tad insane...
So, a quick question, just what is a ML?
51,928 / 50,000
Oct 16, 2007 - 23 25
WELCOME! Insanity is allowed, and even encouraged, here.
ML stands for Municipal Liaison. They (we) are the people responsible for trying to get people together for events (such as kick off parties and write ins), getting the official goodies (generally in the form of stickers and things) to participants, motivating left and right when it appears someone is close to break point and just generally making sure everyone is doing okay. We are the cat herders.
I'm ML for Pretoria mostly, and unless someone steps up to manage Joburg, that will default to me as well. It's my first time MLing for NaNo so go easy on me, yeah? ;)

Heh- sounds more like chief lunatic in charge of lesser lunatics...
And cat herders sounds about right- keeping a bunch of lunatics moving in one direction should be as much fun as trying to guess where every electron shoots off to when a nuclear explosion goes off!
So, I may be insane, but not insane enough to tackle a job like that first time out.
51,928 / 50,000
Oct 17, 2007 - 01 57
Luckily the job has a pre-req of having to at least have finished the challenge once, so we've been through the paces a time or two already. Voices of experience are us. Really. <.<;;
Personally I think the cat herding would be much easier with a cattle prod. Oh yes, I'd like that. Everyone would live in fear of my skok-stok. *has happy, zapping dreams* Mwhahahaha

Many things would be easy with cattle prods- alas, they won't allow me to use them to get resources on my projects to work harder! Ah well, we will just have to continue looking at the viability of intravenous caffeine.

Looking for: Johannesburg Write-in Co-ordinator
Would anyone like to volunteer to be the go-to person for a Jozi based write-in? Duties involved would be to find a suitable location, to help interested parties agree on a suitable date and time, to show up, to hang out with anyone else who shows up for writing / chatting / whatevering. Even if you host only one write in, that would be cool.
Talk of write-ins will officially commence from Week 2, so you have all weekend to mull it over. I am hoping that there will be at least 1 write in each in Johannesburg and Pretoria, and if you guys want, we could do a midrand based one as well. Or more, if there is a need.

Come on everyone!
Not much is required to organise a Write-In - find a venue and pitch to herd others to a singular set of tables for caffinated fun/writing.
I ran JHB/PTA last year and with more of you this year, Cali deserves a helper. Think about it this way: wouldn't it do your ego some good to be the JHB ML and know that you helped keep this all going?
You are not alone! All the ML's are here to support you! It doesn't require all that much of your time actually seeing as most of you are already on the forums - what is a few hours on a weekend afternoon spent drinking coffee somewhere other than home while working on your novel?
Who is going to step up to the plate?

Like Pen said, it will be cake. The arrangements more or less make themselves so you basically just need to show up and have fun. Or show up and be productive. Kind of like attending a write in as per normal, really. I just need someone I know will definitely be there so everyone else will know who to look for.
