Wow I didn't realize there were that many of us here. I haven't been able to find anybody and last year I was disappointed bc all of the NaNo goings on happened too far for me to drive. Cool! :)
I live in Lock Haven, often drive to State College weekly for "shopping" opportunities. It's just a short drive from where I'm at. This will be my first time doing the challenge.
As I mentioned in another thread, hooray for Centre County/State College writers. Maybe if there are NaNoWriMo things in my general area this year, I can actually finish my novel.
I mean, we could do an informal kick-off thing at one of the local coffee shops (statistically, I assume some of us aren't able to go to a bar, judging from what I've seen--I'm surprised at how many NaNoWriMo people are under eighteen, and I wish I had that kind of determination and work ethic at hat age), perhaps the weekend before the whole thing starts?
Usually the ML will arrange a kick-off party. Our ML last year was Chuck, who was attending PSU. I'm not sure if he's still here or not. I shot an email to the ML-head-lady about being ML for this area, but she hasn't gotten back to me yet. Despite that, I can arrange a kick-off party.
Okay, so I talked to the owner of Websters, that neat little used bookstore that is next to what used to be the Ben and Jerry's down near Allen Street gates, about having the kick-off party there and she agreed, so I was wondering who would be able to make it there on October 31st. We could probably start like an hour early and sit there till about 2am writing. Interest? Y/N? Gimme some feedback, because I want to send an article to the Collegian about the get together and NaNo in general.
I wish I could go to the kick off, but not only is midnight past my bedtime, I'll be out of town until Nov. 1. I'll try to make it to a write-in, though, if it doesn't conflict with watching a Steeler's game on a Sunday. *grin*
>:3 It's rather past my bedtime too, actually. But that's all right. I don't really intend on sleeping come November. Just maHOOseive amounts of coffee and what not. *cuddles coffeemaker*
Hello people in Centre County! I would love to be at these Nano gatherings...except I'm in Finland as an exchange student for a whole year. But I just wanted to say hello anyway....and Websters is a really charming place. I used to hang out there with my friends all of the time. Good spot for writing too!

Who organizes the write-ins, typically?

D: Not cool. I was thinking of a write-in every weekend as well. Absent PSU games, of course. But sometime Sundays most likely.
