Last year MSU had about four people who did NaNoWriMo--we got together in one of the campus coffee shops and typed like madpeople and it was a blast! Just checking to see if anyone else out there in Murray-land is noveling this year?

I'm in this. Anyone want to go flyer-ing with me? I was going to do it yesterday, but I lost my tape.

Hey, I'm not sure if it's just me or if it's the site but messaging doesn't seem to be working right now.
Anyway, I'd love to go flyer-ing if you're planning to go next week! (I'm already off campus for the week right now.) We need to spread the word!

I've got some fliers printed up for today (Thursday), and I'll be taping them around Faculty Hall.
Problem is, I don't do color. I never look at fliers if they're on colored paper... unfortunately, my friends inform me that I am probably one of three or four people on earth who does that, and that nobody will pay any attention to my boring black and white fliers.
Anybody have any colored paper?
Also, I'm going to chat with some faculty and see if they'd like to participate. Maybe we can get this into a full-fledged event by next year.

btw Whitney, I'll check back on the forums at some time... today I guess since it's nearly 2am. Even if you can't do flyering tomorrow, I doubt I'll be satisfied with only one flyering run in one building.
Also, I didn't want to spend all the ink to print out copies of the actual nanowrimo flyers, so I sorta paraphrased and gave it a personal touch. It would be cool if you and some others could come up with unique flyers too... not only because it would look cool, but because people will then have to spend more time memorizing which flyers to automatically ignore, and in the process get hit with nanowrimo multiple times.

Hey--I'm actually going to be out of town after about 2:30 today (Thursday) and I have classes until then... going back home because of a family emergency. I'll be back Sunday if you're planning to go flyering again next week sometime!
Also, I don't have colored paper or very much creativity when it comes to making my own fliers, but I do work up in the English and Philosophy department, and if you think it'd be worth it I could bring some fliers up here to set on a desk or perhaps put in faculty mailboxes. (I also recommend, since you're putting stuff up in Faculty, to put at least one flier up here on the 7th floor where the English geeks like myself spend time.)
But yeah, let me know if you're going to post more next week!

Hey, we need to get a kickoff party (or just a Day 1 get-together/chit-chat session) set up. I was thinking Thursday at 7 for a time, but as for place, I'm torn between Thoroughbrewed and Le Petit Chachot. At T-brewed we could get lots of nice expensive coffee, but at the Cachot we can talk louder and nobody else is ever there (also, we can bring our own coffee pots and such things). Give me some feedback.
(Le Petit Cachot is on the 3rd floor of Old Fine Arts. Just take the FA elevator to 3R, and walk out of the elevator straight forward.)

Le Petit Cachot sounds good to me. Makes for an easy walk (right next door) from Jazz practice. Sorry if we're loud for the first hour of the kickoff in advance!

I favor Le Petit Cachot over the Thoroughbrewed because I'm not much on coffee but either are acceptable as long as the time stays the same.

Okay, unless anyone has any major scheduling issues, bring your coffees and so forth to Le Petit Cachot (The Little Dungeon) at 7pm, Day 1 (11/01/07). Lets review how to get there!
1. Enter the Fine Arts tower by the two elevators.
2. Get on whichever elevator tickles your fancy.
3. Hit the "3R" button.
4. When you exit the elevator, go straight!
...Actually, veer a little to the right so you don't hit the wall.
I can assure you, this room is the ugliest damn place on campus, but I've never seen anyone there except for the music fraternity on sunday nights.
I'll bring my coffee pot and some decaf. If any of you drink coffee and can't live without caffeine, cream, and sugar, bring those and I'll steal some from you.
Also, bring your laptops, paper, or whatever else you need.
Peace!

W00t! Great turnout everyone. Thanks to Michael for coming, and thanks to Sean for the great jazz music!
If anyone wants to hold a write-in, I guess just say so here. You'll probably be able to find Kacirus or me in Le Petit Cachot 24/7, so that will work also. Good luck with your novels, blokes.

I will be writing mainly in the Thoroughbrewed room, if I do.

Hello,
I want to thank the people who hung the nanowrimo notifications in Faculty Hall. I had no idea about this contest, and am very happy to be a part of it.
