I don't exactly have anything to report, just wanted to say hi to the rest of you. This is my second time participating, first time my progress was rather pathetic. We'll see what happens this year. It's early enough for me to be optimistic, despite lack of plot, characters, etc.

Later,

Hi! This is my first year, and I too am feeling optimistic with only a vague shadow of an idea haunting my head. Half of me wants to have a decently formed idea before I start, but the other half says that's taking the piss out of the whole thing. I'm not sure which half'll win. Either way, looking forward to the writing and the writing about writing on the forums here.

I know, I'm seriously tempted to start cooking up a plot and outline it. That's not how I normally write, but the pressure of 50k in one month is daunting. When it all comes down to it I'll most likely procrastinate any prep work till Nov 1 anyway, and dive right in.

Is there going to be any writing sessions in the Mount Pearl, St John's area?

In terms of outlining or not, I know that generally, from reading different forums and talking to other MLs and areas, planning helps people achieve the 50k in November. This will be my third attempt, and last year I made it further than I did the year before, only because I had a light outline in front of me, including character sketches and the like.

So my advice would be to not plan heavily and with too much structure, but to do a light outline that can be revised. I was surprised at how much more confidence I had simply because I had a silly little piece of paper.

Hi there!

Unfortunately, I highly doubt we'll be planning anything in Mt. Pearl, simply because we have to stick to something central. This year especially, as we have a bunch of minors and students who can't get around as easily as those with vehicles (myself included). However, if you can make the opening and the write-ins in St. John's, you're more than welcome! If not, we'll all try to support you the best we can online.

Hey, everyone!

This is my second time trying this; last year, I was pretty pathetic and dropped out in early days. I blame doing a MA.

But now I'm back home in Placentia, and I just passed the 10k mark, so things are going all right!

Are there any other Nano-ers living outside the Northeast Avalon? It's important for us to represent! There's more to NFLD than SJ. :)
