-- Purely Social / Group Bondage Events --

TGIO (Thank God It's Over)
December 8, 2007 7:00 - 10 (ish) <<***DATE CONFIRMED***
Location: RSVP REQUIRED - TBA to respondents **ONLY**

RSVPs:

RSVPs are absolutely, completely IMPERATIVE for the TGIO. Actually having *WON*, is not. *grinning* Seriously. I don't care if you wrote 10k or 100k - come out and celebrate with us.

PLEASE read through this message very carefully. If you are attending, there are potentially FATAL allergy issues, so we need to make sure everyone is aware of them.

You MUST e-mail us at winnipeg_mb[at]nanowrimo.org if you are attending. The TGIO Is at a **private home** and will not be posted to the forums, nor will it be sent via blindmail!

We've been graciously allowed the use of this space for three years now. Regrettably, it's not wheelchair accessible (there's a few stairs on the porch, but they're navigable if you're on crutches or the like). The owners live upstairs and have two dogs who generally don't come into the downstairs space, but we may hear them.

A few particular notes about the Winnipeg Thank God It's Over party.

1) Our TGIO is a potluck affair. Because of drop dead do-not-pass-go allergies: absolutely NO Nuts, Seafood or Mushrooms. None. Vegetarian sushi is out because the seaweed is packed in fish oil. No Worcestershire sauce (contains anchovy paste). Please read labels. We cannot stress this enough. If you have ANY doubts, please ask us.

2) We are renting the space from a group where it is used for a book club, a choral group and various other functions. It is the main floor of a duplex in a residential area. Because I have to pay for the space, I do ask for a silver collection from those who attend. A couple of bucks a head usually does it.

3) We will make coffee, tea, cider or what have you, depending on who attends and what they'd like. We provide plastic plates and forks and the like; if you have your own take-out type mug, feel free to bring it.

4) It is typical to bring samples of your work. Depending how large of a crowd we have, we may encourage people to read aloud. Note that the house was built in the early 1900s, so plugs are at a premium; laptop users, charge them up before you arrive.

5) We usually have a few spare winner's certificates for those who didn't get around to printing theirs off. You can also finish up your name badge and your stars, and get your Inner Editor back if you really missed them that much.

We take suggestions for the next year if offered, and can generally be bribed with large quantities of high quality dark chocolate. No guarantee of success, but feel free to bribe away if you really want us to think it over. :)

Oh and don't worry; we can fit upwards of forty people in that space in a pinch, so we'll make room for you. *grin* Hope to see you there!

A few more things:

A) If you already know what you're bringing, include that in your reply. This way we won't end up with twenty bowls of potato salad and eight trays of cookies. (We already have three)

B) We do NOT have access to heating or cooling for food. Crock pots we can manage, but there is no stove or microwave. Please bear that in mind when preparing your meal / food. Also remember to bring your own serving ware if needed.

C) Bring enough for 3-4 people. We'll have a lot more attendees than that, but if everyone brings a small portion then we're not trying to work out what to do with the leftovers. (Just trust us in this. We've hosted or attended a LOT of potlucks, and the 3-4 people rule seems to hold true no matter how big the crowd is.)

Please don't arrive before seven p.m.; we need time to set up.

I will not be attending any of these events as they conflict with my work schedule.

*whoot* ya me Bondage! Oh wait... I am helping lead...haha. It has already come to our attention that there are people who cannot make the thursday write ins. I as co-cat herder will try and get another night going with an additional write in where there are thesoruses (did I spell that right?) LOL and other people to help nag... I mean motivate those willing to write. These would also be at the Library from 7:30-9 ish and will be annouced as I am available. We would love to see people out to the kick off, mid month and TGIO parties even if you cannot come for write ins so we can see people and share in the glory :) - Heather

I should be able to make it to a bunch of the write-ins. I'm out of town from Nov 28th to Dec 2nd (probably) so I might miss the TGIO.

Fabulous good to hear it!
Just to make it clear if I go to the library and write mondays it is NOT an official write in those are only thursdays... but I plan on spending a bit of time there weekly so I can actually get some writing done since I have many distractions at home (books, movies/dvd's a game boy, DS, PSP, Playstation 1&2, X BOX, game cube, X box 360, 2 laptops and a partridge in a pear tree...) So I found last year I did close to 5,000 words a night at the library and about 500 at home LOL....
Betty and I chose thrusday as last year it had the best turnout and most people agreed that it worked for them. Looking forward to it...wow still no plot... Is this normal? Betty look... does this look odd to you? *lol* H

Ah, cool. I try to get out of the house a lot, too. Last year I was definitely far more productive at group writing sessions than chez nous.

I'm pretty sure I can make it to all of the events (social and write-ins), as I pretty much have no life (oh, the life of a teenager). The only thing is if my ringette practices are on thursday, but I highly doubt that, with the way Dakota CC is acting. We don't even have a coach. *huff*

Sorry, I ranted.

But unless something turns up, I am pretty sure I can make it to all of them, and will warn in advance as much as possible if I cannot. I look forward to meeting you all. :)

Hi! This is my first time and YES I want to come to everything. The Kick-Off, the Mid-Month, the Write-Ins ... and we'll see about the TGIO.

Clearly, I'm excited. Woot!

I'm gonna go to the Kick-Off Party, never really checked out who else in Winnipeg was doing this last year (though I barely got anything done anyways) and it might be cool to see if anyone I know is writing too.

I should be able to make the kick off, I'll be in pretty rough shape. having spent the day at work. But I'll be there. The rest will depend on my work and life schedule which hasn't been set for November

In a rare moment of non-antisocialness (it's NaNo; I'm allowed to make up words as I see fit, darn it!), I shall be at the kick-off. Yay!

*nudges to top of forum*
*heads to the ML forum to ask about getting this stickied...*
*ragga fragga computers anyhow....*

=B=

PS: Remember, your last day to get a kit bag is the mid-month. Those who have been at write-ins and haven't gotten kit bags because of the Great Kit Bag Debacle, please e-mail us at winnipeg_mb(at)nanowrimo[dot]org with your name and your user ID so we can make sure the people who've been coming out to stuff get first dibs. You know who you are, I talked with most of you last night.

PPS: We may move the write-ins again. I need to consult with the magic eight ball of cat-herding ... we were still pretty spread out. Maybe the smaller nook WOULD work better. *thoughtful hum* Wow. I never thought I'd have to deal with too MANY people - when I started doing this four years ago, there were a couple of write-ins where the only people who showed up were the ones I had put in the car along the way. :) This is great.
