Anyone from Savannah NaNoing? I'd love to see if we could organize a kickoff and/or weekend writing groups.

Heheheh. What are the chances we'll actually pull it off this year? Suggestions on places, anyone? The Barnes & Noble in Oglethorpe mall? the Panera next to the mall? a place with coffee?

I believe in the Savannah people! We can do it this year.
----------Barnes&Nobles sounds like the best place to me, but I'm open ot other places too. I'll have to think about it. ><

What about a big open-air meet at Lake Mayer? It may not be the most comfortable of places, but the environment will be nice and there won't be a space issue if there are just so many people coming.

It's still relatively early, right? Still plenty of time for Savannah people to make themselves known. SPEAK UP, GUYS.

I'm kind of liking the Lake Mayer idea. Maybe we could do an afternoon picnic on either Sat. 27th or Sun. 28th? Once the writing starts, we might want to go somewhere better for writing than a park, but the pre-marathon party could certainly be there.

Hmmm...I like the idea of Barnes & Nobles in the mall. But, (and this might be a no-no or sound stupid) what about Starbucks? Or something like that?
:-)
I'm new to this, it's my first year. Hopefully we'll figure out something soon??

Another Sav Nanoer present! The Sentient Bean is a coffeeshop downtown that is spacious (and tasty!) as far as good meeting places go.

I'm in Savannah and I've done NaNo for years.
Its hard (impossible) for me to get to meetings though because I can't drive and fear public transportation.
ACK!
Not to mention I work retail.
But if anything happens in the BAM close to Michaels and happens to coincide with my lunch break I'm there! (that wasn't a serious suggestion, but I would be there....-grin-)

Hiya. =) I'm from Savannah but it would be relatively hard for me to attend on the 27th, I already have my schedule filled. As well as that, transportation is hard to come by right now.
But, if I ever can come, it will probably be at Barnes and Nobles, good source of inspiration with all those books around...plus caffiene!

Greetings all. Just consider me attending any SAV meetings in spirit because I'm in the process of speed-writing everything I'll be neglecting in November. (This explains the four blog entries I did today and the three I'll probably do tomorrow.) I have a lot of things to attend to before I drop off the planet for a few weeks. Like finally settling on a single story idea. LOL

Hmm. Looks like most people are saying B&N. Seeing as how it's the 27th now, I'm guessing it's too short notice to plan anything for today... SO!
Tomorrow, Sun. 28th, 2pm at Barnes and Nobles in Oglethorpe Mall! Let's meet by the comfy chairs next to the door to the rest of the mall. Be there or be square. :)

Well, that sure didn't work. I was there until 2:40pm, and as far as I can tell nobody else came. :(
Let's try some advanced planning for the next one! Everyone answer the following question: for the month of November, what days and times are you available? Where are you able to travel to?
I'll be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays all day. Also Saturdays and Sundays except between 4:30-8:30pm (work). I can pretty much go anywhere in Savannah, provided there's adequate parking next to it.

Well, I can make it on Tuesday's between 3.5-5.5 or so.
----------And then on weekends and maybe Friday afternoons.
But I'll have to get a laptop from somewhere. D:

We're attempting to get organized enough this year to actually pull off a local meeting. I'm taking a survey: for the month of November, what days and times are you available? Where are you able to travel to?

Hi, all,
I'm a first year NaNo'er, but I am excited about the prospects. As far as meetings, any evening after 3.5 would be fine. As far as location, I am game for anything. Also, I am a former English teacher (now do technology for Savannah-Chatham County BoE), so if anyone needs an editor, I would be glad to pitch in. Best of luck to all my fellow wordsmiths and let me know when you want to do a meet.

I'm from Savannah! But, alas, am presently living in Israel, thus meeting live would be a tough deal. I'm totally uninspired this year. Well, that's not exactly true, I've got lots of words, just no story. Wrote over 3,000 yesterday but no story. They'll all be for naught. Oh my, what to do? What about virtual meeting? Anyone up for a chit chat online at some particular time? I'm 7 hours ahead of you guys, so that will play into it - but I can be amazingly resourceful in the middle of the night.

That sounds like a great idea! I'm free most evenings after 5:30 pm. Saturday mornings are a no-go, but after that on the weekend I'm free! Of course, I'll be disappearing to Spain from 16-24...which will be an interesting experience to try and keep up with NaNo, but I'm gonna try, that's for sure! Can't wait to get cracking on this!

Pardon the really dumb question, but what's BAM?
I'm thinking that Barnes and Nobles won't work so well this year - they got rid of most of the comfy chairs and filled in the space with shelves. Though there's a Starbuck's in the same mall that has more seats. My personal preference would be Panera's across the street, by the McDonald's and around the corner from Michael's.
