I know the website is not working well (they are trying desperately to fix everything), but let's go ahead and try to get an introduction thread going.
I'll start.
My name is Chris Sanders.
I'll be acting as the Municipal Liaison this year (Suho is busy writing his dissertation this year).
I've been in Korea for over three years; currently I teach at Sungsil University (south of the Han River in Dongjak-gu, Seoul).
This is the third year in which I'll actively participate in NaNoWriMo.
Let's see, what else.
My favorite authors are Haruki Murakami and Myla Goldberg.
I do hope to one day be a published novelist!
OK, that's a little about me. Everyone else, please follow suit!

Hey!
My name is Dysupes. Yes, that's my real name and not a nom de plume. :) hehe
Seriously though, like Aristotle91, I've been in Korea for over 3 years (almost four now) and this will be my third Nanowrimo as well. I teach public school though not for much longer and I'm down in the south of Korea, near Busan. I love comics as you can tell from my avatar and I'm a solid reader though a poor writer when it comes to keeping a writing schedule outside of Nanowrimo. Hope to break that this year! :)
Of course, I too hope to be a published and celebrated novelist who is able to travel the world while writing intriguing and interesting novels about people and how they exist in the world.
By the by nice to see you again, Aristotle91! Good luck this year! ^^

'ello everyone!
first off, my name is lira (no, that is not me real name - i'd love to change it though)
unlike everyone, i've been living in s. korea for 3 months now (i was born near busan, but i was raised up for nearly my entire life in new england...) and am currently attending seoul international school.
this is my second go at nanowrimo - first year wasn't too great, but like most teenagers, we can point our index fingers at ::gulp:: high school research papers. i really look forward to doing it this year and making it to 50,000 words, but being boggled down at a new school system may bring me down. ::Sigh::
my favourite authors are jodi picoult, irene nemirovsky, khaled hosseini, jeffrey eugenides, ect.
i wish to be a novelist of some type or a journalist/editor for the new york times or the new yorker - but that may change in the next three years...we shall see...
best of luck, everyone! cheers to nanowrimo '07!

I have been in Korea since February with the US military. Live just outside the city of Seoul. First year at this NaNoWriMo thing. Hopefully I can handle it. It should be a crazy month in November (and that was before I joined this) so I am looking forward to the lack of sleep.

Hey everyone,
Mack Nalley here also simply known as Michael.
I am in Daecheung, Seoul again for the year. This will be my fourth go at the old Novel. I have a plan, but that doesn't mean much as we have all seen. I figure I might break out a and write a descent novel in 2023 at this current rate.
All the best... chat with you soon.

My name is Ang, I'm an Australian teaching English in Bundang, just south of Seoul. I've been here about four months. It's my second year attempting NaNo; I didn't win last year. Bring on November - I'm going to show my inner-editor and 50,000 word goal who's boss!
The last book I finished was 'Princess Masako: Prisoner of the Chrysanthemum Throne' (Ben Hills) - it was okay, but the best one I read recently was 'Cooking Up A Storm' by Emma Holly.
Can't wait to meet you all!

Hello,
I'm Christine. I've been in Korea for about a year and a half over a 2 year period. I teach at Seocho PSA currently. My writing habits are all screwed up because I spent August dealing with my husband's health problem, September and the first part of October semifinaling in the Gather First Chapters Romance contest and through all that time getting ready for my school's Parent's Night. I'm hoping NaNoWriMo will get me back on track. I'm already 15K into a project, but I want to finish it and move on.
Now, I better get the last of the editing I promised to finish done so I can gear up to write my butt off.

Hi, I'm Brian. It's my third year doing Nanowrimo. I won on my first try and then choked my second year. I'm going to have another go however. Last year I suffered a crisis of creativity. My story wasn't going anywhere and I fell into the trap of believing that was a problem. This year my mantra is going to be "shut up and write.
Although officially I'm a resident of Arizona, my heart and soul will always belong to my "adopted" hometown of Portland, Oregon. I've been in Korea for five years now. I've been so flighty lately, I can't think of a single novel other than the last Harry Potter that I've finished in 2007. Yikes! That might be a bad sign....

Hey guys. Fiona here.
I've been in Korea since the summer of '04, currently attending Hanyang University in Seoul, pursuing double majors in Business and English Literature, with a minor in Linguistics. This is my fourth NANO, and am currently wondering where the original 4 went, since 2004. (Suho, come back!) :D Hah, and yeah, I'm an elitist, so sue me.
I'm published, with the Blood Martyr series, the first book "Blood Shadows" which got released earlier this month, and have two pieces accepted in two different Christmas anthologies. I am revising some stuff for Tor/Forge as well as Black Lace.

Hello all, I'm Paul VanKoughnett.
This is my second year in Korea. I live on the Yongsan garrison and am a senior at Seoul Foreign School.
This is my first time trying NaNoWriMo; I think I'd rather enjoy writing a novel, but I wouldn't be able to do it without this sort of motivation.
Outside of writing, I enjoy reading (of course -- my favourite authors being Douglas Hofstadter, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and Mark Danielewski). I'm quite talented at math, and I like puzzles and things a whole lot. I also really enjoy acting. I may try out the sister project on screenplays eventually.
And I also hope to be published one day. Again, this goes without saying.

Hi, My name is Saki. This is my second year in Korea- living in Anseong this time, teaching English; this is my 4th year doing NaNo.
My fav authors at the moment are George Martin, Sara Douglas and Neil Gaiman. When I'm not NaNo-ing I'm reading, writing and doing whatever it takes to entertain myself.
I look foraward to NaNo and a couple of write-ins since I didn't make it to any last year.

----------My name is Joe. I've been in Korea for... ever since I was born except for 5 and a half years overbroad in the states. Makes me think that I am the only one thats native to Korea or am I not? If that is, It makes me really special. :) This is my first year I will participate in NaNoWriMo and my favorite author is Yenn Martel.

Hey everyone! My name is Kristen, I'm new to NaNoWriMo, but am really looking forward to it; it may just be the kick in the tail I need to get thoughts down on paper, once and for all. I was an English lit major, I graduated in 2005 and have been writing short stories since I can remember. I've always wanted to write a novel. I live north of the Han river, and am teaching English to adults. :) I think that about covers it all.....good luck everyone!

Hello everyone,
My name is Jason, I'm from Denver in the US originally and have been living in Seoul since February. Right now, I teach at an academy called Avalon in Yongin (near Bundang). I'm excited to do this Nanowrimo, because I have some ideas I've had in my head for years but never had the gumption to fully put down on paper, so now hopefully this will give me the motivation I need. Also, my brother did this last year, and highly recommended it to me. I'm hoping to meet other authors and exchange ideas and so on about how to really write a novel, it seems a little overwhelming to be sure.
Cheers,
Jason

Hey folks,
My name is Ross. This is going to be my first time doing NaNoWriMo, though I've been thinking about doing it since 2001. I recently finished my master's degree and I am taking some time off from academia right now. I am teaching English at a hagwon in Kangnam, and I have realized that, honestly, I don't really do much here. So now is my opportunity to do NaNoWriMo!
Unlike a lot of you (presumably), I am much more into nonfiction than I am into fiction, and by nonfiction I really mean academic history and political science, which, let's be honest, can be a tad dry sometimes. I am hoping to create a novel that is cynical and mildly entertaining.

Hi all!
My name is Maria. I'm originally from Florida, USA, but have been an exchange student at Yonsei University, Wonju campus since August. This is my 3rd attempt at Nanowrimo, though my previous attempts were interrupted by too much school work. I'm hoping for less obstacles this year.
I'm so happy to see other people in Korea attempting it with me! ^_^ Good luck to all of you guys!

hi everyone, my name is Chris Brown and i'm from New Zealand, teach at an elementary school in a lovely little town called Samcheon-po on the south coast. Just started my second year of teaching after moving south from Gyeonggi-do.
First year of this nanowrimo, although i've read about it before.
i've been writing since i was 9, but never had the balls to chase publishers. hoping to draw on experiences and will probably put autobiographical stuff into what i write next month, since i'm kinda self-centred and have little scope for other people. admitting it apparently helps me become endearing.
my favourite writers include Chuck Palahniuk, Andy McNab and Salman Rushdie.
i'm hoping to get some advice and helpful hints from people along the way, and promise not to give any just in case anyone foolishly considers it. happy writing!
oh yeah, i'll be using UK spelling because i have to use USA spelling at work and i don't bring work home with me when i can help it ;-)

But I can't make it to the Kick-off party unfortunately...

Hello everyone!
My name is Jacob Finn, I just heard about this even a few moments ago, and decided to sign up. Obiovusly, this is my first year taking part in NaNoWriMo, and I'm really excited for it.
I've been in Korea for almost two months now, living in Incheon. I just finished my undergrad at the University of Toronto, with a major in history and two minors in English and classical history. I can't really say who my favourite authors are, because I' ve sort of lost the lust for reading . . . everything I was forced to read for school made me never want to read in my spare time.
I hope this will help me reignite my passion for the written word, in all its forms, and finally give me a reason to write the ideas that have been floating in my head for a few years now.
Good luck, everyone!!! I have a feeling that we're all going to need it.

Greetings!
I told Chris I'd drop by to say hello, and here I am.
My name is Charles, although I'm known around these parts as Suho. I came to Korea directly after graduating university in 1995, so it's been twelve years now. I started doing NaNoWriMo in 2004, and in 2005 a bunch of us (hey Fiona!) decided to get ourselves organized and start a regional forum for Korea (before that we met in Asia: Elsewhere). I was the sacrificial lamb, otherwise known as the ML. This year, Chris is carrying on the torch to ensure that the region stays alive, and I for one want to express my gratitude for that publicly. I have no doubt that he'll do a great job (he already looks more organized than I ever was).
This will be my first year not doing NaNoWriMo after three years straight. It's kind of a weird feeling, but I have had to prioritize and unfortunately NaNoWriMo fell below the cut line this year. I hope to be able to return to the fray next year, though. I wish you all the best of luck, and I'll try to drop by throughout the month of November to offer encouragement.

Hi everyone,
This will be my third nano. Like Brian, won the first one, crashed and burned last year.
I used to live in Korea (taught and lived there for 2+ years) and felt much more at home in this forum than the Melbourne one and I first found out about Nanowrimo through Dave's ESL Cafe and a few members from there joined up so it all made sense at the time. And it's great to see so many familar people around again this year :)
Anyway, I hope you'll accept me as an honorary member of the K-gang!
My favourite author is John Irving - I love the tragi-comedy nature of his work.
Good luck Chris - I think you'll be a great ML.
Ah, it's good to be back!
Take care
Sandra

Hello Everyone,
My name is Bella. I've lived in Korea on and off for the last 4 years. I'm currently working on my Master's in education. I have notebooks upon notebooks of unfinished writing and hope that NaNoWriMo will be what I need to actually finish something. This will be my first attempt and am looking forward to the challenge.
