Who what when where why how?
Willing to hear suggestions.
I like Panera on Henderson and HIgh, seems more accomodating... although Kerouac is also very good as they ahve that second room. Dunno about victorians as that sounds like it'd be really tiny. The panera up on campus doesn't even have a reserve room.
So...
Any ideas?

I would rather avoid using the campus area for the kickoff since parking can be a little bit difficult.
Maybe one of the bookstores? I haven't been to the Panera on Henderson and High so I won't offer any opinion for that location.

I'm all for having it someplace with a parking lot (especially since a lot of street parking comes with time limits) and a room we can reserve. I really like Panera (free drink refills, especially coffee!!!); I haven't been to Kerouac (do they have parking?); and I don't know that I've seen a book store that has a reservable room.

Parking is always good but I know from previous years a few people do take the bus so a place on the bus line would be good. That Panera on Henderson and High is great for boh needs.
Panera is open until 8pm?

Slightly off topic, but why doesn't Columbus have a Regional Liason?

Oh we do, Bluemoose. I checked because I remember them all saying they didn't want to do it last year. I did a search for people with COlumbus ohio and she's the only one with the ML halo. However, I've been waiting for her to show up, however I can help out in the interim. Astults too apparently...
What really sucks is I don't know if we even have the polls this year. I sure as heck know that we don't have polls as nonML people but the ML's do... Oh well...
I'm agreeing with you Astults, I think that the Panera is a classic. We once did it up there at the one MiMi's cafe and it was so bloody crowded. *sigh*
THat's why I like panera... coffee... it's right on the number 2.... nice location.
Can we settle on a date... seing as November starts in the middle of the week and most general people have weekends off... I won't be able to do it the weekend before, that's the Real Wiches ball, so I won't be able to make that. Unless we make it in the evening too...

I believe the "halo" thing only represents people who have supported (like, financially) NaNoWriMo. Unless you're describing something else.
I will try to attend the kickoff, wherever it is, but problems with geography (I live out near Marysville), schedule (I'm working two jobs) and near-crippling social phobia (I am nearly crippled with social phobia) may change my plans.

Last year we had the kickoff on the first (it was a Wednesday), and I'd certainly be able to attend one on the first this year. I'd probably be able to attend one on the weekend as well/instead of on the actual first (though I'm one of those people who is more available on weekdays.)
Regardless, I'll be writing at a one of the Panera's on the first!

Yeah, I think I met you at the Panera at Crosswoods on that day. I work just across the street from there.
I'll probably stop in there again this year on 11/1, but am unlikely to be actively writing, since I'm using a typewriter this year.
I think the official 'kickoff' meeting/party is generally held before the month starts, and has been held several different places (Barnes and Noble, Kerouacs, Something-or-other Star Cafe -- which is near Graceland...I forget where else).

Kickoff, d'oh! That's right, I missed last year's.
Chaoticpi, is the whole previous weekend out for you? Or is Sunday evening do-able? I could do any of the last days of October except for the 31st (I'm sure most folks have that same restriction.) I'm thinking it would be kind of strange to have it after November starts (unless we wanted to make it a kickoff/write-in.)
As for where... well, I'm still game for anywhere with parking. And on a bus route. That narrows it down, doesn't it? :-)

Well I'm stuck by cota too, considering 'late sunday' and COTA is a misnomer. There's nowhere to plan for that day.
I think that I might not be going to the ball this year so I'm going to be free the rest of the weekend. I wish it wasn't so, but i guess it is.
That is unless I get sponsorship. Although I dobut it. I'll check both schedules and get back to yah. Considering the fact that I'd love to go at least a few days. LOL.

Well, if we need it before the 31st, how about the 30th or 29th in the evening? I haven't been to the Panera but it sounds ok.

I probably wouldn't be able to come on a Monday or Wednesday night (like the 29th), or if I did, I'd only be able to arrive around 8:30 PM. October 30th is fine with me, though, as are other Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I'm also okay with the Panera on Henderson and High.

Allrighty then... Everybody else okay for Monday? LOL It all comes down to the fact that I've gotta call Panera tomorrow and see what's open. ANd is Henderson and High okay for everyone?
I wanna know how many are attending too just so I can give them a guestimate. :) (Although, I like most of you, hate the word 'guestimate'.)
But yeah. Just a show of hands.
I wish we could poll again. *sigh*

Did you see my post? When you say "Everybody else", I don't know if you mean everyone but me, or just everyone in the forum.
All across the forum, some replies aren't showing up. They're still there, and you can read them if you log out. You might want to do that before making any plans.

Panera at Henderson and High is booked the 29th, 30th, and the 31st. All at the good hours. Crosswoods is kinda just a parnera without one however I'm thinking they won't mind the mad dash of writers, we've done it there before. I'll make sure it's a bus-friendly time, considering I know how Cota works... heehee... :D

I know for a fact that Gumby and I will be meeting on Monday 10/29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cup O' Joe at Lennox to write our Magna Cartas and just b.s. and bounce ideas off of each other. Anyone who wants to join us is welcome to show up and say hi. We'll be the two with the No Plot No Problem books looking vaguely lost. . .

I'm thinking Panera at Henderson 10/29 at About five to close? I think that would be a good idea. I'm going to probably bring my NP!/NP! book with me and it'll be propped up. So y'all know where the restless writers are as someone else owns the party room that night... LOL...
We seem to be in an opinion Monday if we can't do a weekend would be best. I agree.
I'll keep looking though.

I leave work at 4:00, so I would be able to make a 5:00 kickoff. I don't know when the buses stop running, but I'm a little worried that 5:00 may keep some people who work until then from being able to attend.
Again, I leave my job at 4:00 so I'm good. I would suggest that if there are people who 5:00 is too early but would otherwise show up to speak up about the time.

Um, I'm here. Sort of. I can't be ML this year because I won't be participating, so if anyone wants to step up (Chaoticpi I'm looking at you), you need to talk to the ML Headmistress, Erin. I ... don't know her username offhand.

Cool! At least I gotcha to reply! LOL... I just wanted to see where yah'd run off to... :) I've been pretty much doing it so yeah. I'll take it. And a routine search for the name'll help.

But I'm saying from five until close... yanno so the earlier stragglers can show up. ANd they close at 9 in the evening so that's enough to actually catch any second buses. (Buses stop at 11.) That gives us four hours.

I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow NaNos from Columbus, but must sadly report that I cannot attend a Monday night meeting (nor Tuesday nor Wednesday as I have kids who want to go Trick-or-Treating). I hope to catch everyone later on, perhaps at a moral-boosting midpoint rally? I'll bring the Peanut M&M's.

Hi everyone! I’m a new NaNoWriMo participant this year, but would definitely be interested in some local meetups/support/etc. I have no thoughts on a location for this kickoff, but I’m flexible. Anywhere with coffee is good as far as I’m concerned. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hello everybody :D
I'm new to this, this year, and I'm just tossing my hat in that I'd love to attend a kickoff. I'm yet another Cota rider, off of Cleveland Avenue. I'll keep an eye for the final decision and hope to see you all there :)
