Hey everyone!
November is rapidly approaching so it's time to plan the Kick-off Party.
For those who aren't familiar with this, it is a great way to get the month started. You get to meet some of the people involved in the frenzy, talk about story ideas, share writing tips, and just have fun.
Now, when and where?
(edited)
Sunday, October 28th at 7:00pm at 민들레영토(Mindeulraeyeongto) in Hongdae
The cost is 5000w a person, and that gets you a free drink. The room is reserved for 3 hours, but if we go over that, it's 700w per 30 minutes (and they close at 11).
I reserved the room for 8 people, but if we have more, I can call and expand it.
To get there:
Go out Hapjeong (lines 6[brown] and 2[green]) exit 3, walk straight until you read a big intersection(a street sign will point to Hongik Univ). Turn right and walk until you reach the (dangerous, unregulated) crosswalk. Cross and keeping walking straight down the alley. (Total Wedding House should be on your left). Keep walking past the big playground and a little magazine shop called Time. Shortly after Time you'll see 민들레영토 on your left. The room is reserved under the name NanoWriMo.

If you get lost or confused, call me: 010-8877-6742.
Now, important! PLEASE POST HERE IF YOU ARE GOING TO COME TO THE KICKOFF PARTY!
We need to have a fairly accurate head count. Thanks!!!
Finally, for our brethren in Daejon, Busan and elsewhere, please think about organizing a party in your locale, too.

Gangnam is a pricier area of the city, no? Sinchon/Hongdae gets my vote :) (mainly for selfish reasons, I've got a Halloween party that evening but want to attend the kickoff if possible!)

I like Hongdae/Sinchon, but I think since at least a few of our NaNo's live in southern Kyeonggi-do, Gangnam works better. I'll post a poll either tomorrow or Monday and we can vote.

OK everyone, here's the deal.
I spent a long time tonight looking around Gangnam, and my gyopo girlfriend searched online. The place we used last year - 민들레영토(Mindeulraeyeongto). - is the best bet. So, I reserved a room at the location in Hongdae.
Here are the details.
Saturday, October 27th at 7:00pm at 민들레영토 in Hongdae
The cost is 5000w a person, and that gets you a free drink. The room is reserved for 3 hours, but if we go over that, it's 700w per 30 minutes (and they close at 11).
I reserved the room for 8 people, but if we have more, I can call and expand it.
I'll post a detailed map shortly, but basically:
Go out Hapjeong (lines 6[brown] and 2[green]) exit 3, walk straight until you see the big sign for a flight attendant hakwon, turn right. Walk 200 meters, you'll come to a road. Cross the road, keep going and then turn left. You should see the sign.
Don't worry if you are confused, I will post a detailed map tomorrow.
And, to get help when you are walking there, call me: 010-8877-6742.
Now, important! PLEASE POST HERE IF YOU ARE GOING TO COME TO THE KICKOFF PARTY!

Hey,

Count me as a tentative yes; I'm working til 5:30 so I may be a little late but I'll do my best to get out from work quickly.
However as I will have been working a Halloween event, please excuse me if I arrive and my face is still painted. =P

Late is fine. Painted faces/Halloween costumes are fine, maybe even encouraged.

I won't be with you, except in spirit, because I'm no longer in Korea. We returned to the Statesover the summer after six and a half years. Joined this group out of nostalgia. Named myself Confucius because both my first and last names were taken. But I am old. And I did teach.
Have fun in Hongdae.

A tentative "yes" here as well; I've yet to find out what time my Halloween party begins but I hope I can drop in for at least an hour!
Cheers,

Would the party be easier for people if we had it on Sunday, Oct 28th?

It definitely would for me, but either way, put me down, I'm going. :-)

I think a lot of people have Halloween parties on Saturday. This afternoon I will call the place and see if we can change the reservation.

Uh...dunno if I can make it on Sunday, but add another person down. He's thinking about nanowrimo-ing, and I'm trying to persuade him to go along. But at this point, I think it'd be safe to add him to the tally as well, Chris.

Please notice that the date for the kick-off party changed to Sunday, October 28th. Same place, same time. See the top of the thread for details and a map.
And again, PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU ARE COMING>
Thanks.

Hey everyone,
This year's SWAG arrived today, so everyone who attends will get both this year's and last year's goodies! AND, I will be giving away a copy of NaNo's "No Plot, No Problem" to one lucky attendee!

Sorry this is so late. I've got a posse of six: three authors and three guests (myself included (as an author, not a guest (of course))). Hope it'll be fun!

I think your guests might be bored; this isn't like a 'party' party. We introduce ourselves to the other writers and talk about our novel plans, writing techniques, useful tips, etc.

Hey there Aristotle and everyone,
Sorry for the late notice, but I won't be able to make the kick-off party this evening. I hope everyone there has a great time, and wish all the best to everyone during Nano next month. I'm still planning to participate in Nanowrimo and will see you all on the forums...
Cheers,
Brian
