I love the area, though both trekking or writing could be a problematic choice. Hmm.
Methinks me read a bit of nerd lite in your profile, which is ubercool in my book. So you may be interested in these:

I can't promise to make it out there, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open. You're not alone! :)

Well, I'm from York. Not too far from Lancaster, it takes me about 20-30 minutes to get there. My husband takes night classes at Millersville University, which I also hope to start doing sometime within the next year. So we're up there all the time! I'm surprised to see only one other person has responded from Lancaster. Oh well, I suppose more people will be visiting the forums as we near November.
:)

I'm from Lancaster! I used to live in York a couple years ago, I think I made it to one Write-In at Borders. So far I haven't been able to go to a Lancaster meet-up, but I hope that changes this year.
My name's Abi :)

I'll be in Lancaster County for the majority of November.
I attend E-town College and can't drive so it won't be easy to make it to write-ins, but I will try!

I don't live in Lancaster County anymore, but I'm only about 45 minutes away -- hello to you E-Town and Millersville wrimos! I'm a recent F&M graduate ... any current/graduated fummers out there? All three colleges could easily get to a nearby Barnes and Noble ... we should have a party (Lancaster residents, too!).

I live between Lancaster and Marietta. I am only about 20 minutes from Millersville!

I did reply to this but for some reason it didn't post.
...Anyway, I live near Mountville so I would be interested in a meet-up with those of us in PA Dutch Country.

I'm a Millersville girl, was last year too. Still no car, though. On the other hand, I've mastered the not-so-ancient art of "the bus" so I can get to most places within the town of Lancaster or actually in Millersville.
There's also a Borders across the street from Park City Mall, but I'm not sure how large it is. (I'm also not sure that there are too many people here, at least so far.)

I live in Lancaster City, there are a few coffee shops downtown. Borders just expanded their cafe, so they have an okay amount of space.

Oooh, I frequent both the Purple Mug and the Prince Street Cafe downtown, what about you?
Lancaster City coffee shops could always be an option, though everyone probably knows where to find Barnes & Nobles.

Prince Street Cafe tends to be my default, the space at Purple Mug just doesn't seem to work for me. I also get to Square One and Dosie Dough from time to time, and am waiting anxiously for Chestnut Hill Cafe to open.
I tend to prefer stand-alone cafes to ones in bookstores, but I have been known to attend write-ins at B&N during Nano.

Ah yes, I've been waiting for Chestnut street cafe to open as well.
I think the Prince Street Cafe would be the most accessible if we decide on meeting downtown.
Kickoff party? Anyone? I saw someone else mention in another thread about getting together on November first to try and write a thousand words in the coffeeshop. I thought that was a neat idea, though getting together to talk about the woes of noveling is just as enjoyable.

Hooray for the Prince Street Cafe! I'm employed relatively normal hours (8-5), so I can't come hang out much during the day on Nov. 1st, and alas the 8am work time means that the day before is unfortunately a Wednesday, and thus a midnight write-a-thon is crud for me, too, but ... I would totally come down to write with people on the evening of Nov. 1st! Would anyone else be there around/after dinner time?

I have to work during the day too-- that probably goes for a lot of people. So maybe around 6-7?
I don't think Prince Street Cafe is open till midnight, anyway. Perhaps we could have a kickoff party Wednesday night?
Edit: I just remembered that the Wednesday before NaNo is Halloween *facepalm* if we have a kickoff that night, we should come dressed as our characters!
Any other thoughts or ideas?

Hey, I remember you from last year! We need to find more Millersvillians to bring into NaNoWriMo to have bigger on campus meet-ups. Not that I can help, nearly everyone I know is a music major of some kind and November isn't the friendliest of months. I tend to write fast though, so I'm sticking with it.

I actually live in Chester County, and can get to Downingtown/Exton in about fifteen minutes, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like anyone else lives near that area -- otherwise I'd come down on Wednesday AND Thursday, but as it is I should probably only come down to wonderful Lancaster (how I miss thee!) only one of those days.
I'm aiming for Thursday because we can actually start writing on Thursday, whereas on Wednesday I'll just come down and go :D and then feel awkward for an hour or two. XD Is anyone thinking of coming to the Prince Street Cafe on Thursday night? If I can get even one more firm "yes!" I'll come down to hang out, but otherwise I'll save the 1.5 hrs of total driving for actual writing.
Alternately, there's a Barnes & Noble in the Red Rose Commons, as someone suggested, and I'd be equally willing to go there for those of us who are intimidated by parking in Lancaster.
Any takers? I'm a twenty-two year old girl, just so no one's scared of me. I'll wear a lame hat or something so you NaNo types can find me. It's my first NaNo, but I've wanted to do one for years, but I kept finding November to be an impossible month during the school year.. I'm pretty stoked.

I'd definitely be up for a write-in on Thursday night at Prince Street Cafe, and may possibly be available for a kick-off on Wednesday. I work for myself, so my hours are flexible and I can pretty much get together whenever other people are comfortable.

For the sake of simplicity, perhaps we should just have the write-in on Thursday.
Would around 7 o'clock at the Prince Street Cafe work for everyone? I might be there slightly earlier studying, so I could nab a table for us all-- I'll wear my bowler hat so you don't miss me.

I'll definitely be there, and will keep an eye out for the hat -- I'll wear my red and gold not-Harry-Potter-but-looks-just-like-it scarf.
So exciting!

Okay, so I'm really a Delaware County-type. But if our NaNo region isn't doing their kick-off on Thursday 11/1, I'd love to join y'all, if you don't mind my SE PA accent! :)
I'll be wearing, uhm, well, probably something. Maybe a smile of relief that I got back alive from Macedonia - we're leaving for there tomorrow, returning 10/30. Oy. But it could be great inspiration!
And just in case there's a "hey, you don't belong with Lancaster folks you SE PA type," I'll have you know I went to M-ville for a 5-week summer seminar some years ago (how aliterary!), I dated an LC-ite, love Strawberry Fields (in Lancaster City), I;ve sung at Tobias Frogg, one of our offices is off Greenfield Road, I go to the Ren Faire now and again, and I've gotten tipsy at a number of your finer pubs and inns. I think I should be allowed a chair - even if it's in the back. :)

Hey, they're letting me come over, and I actually live in Chester County...
PS, Prince Street 11/1 people: I am bringing another NaNo buddy who is a little more forum-shy. So, there are at least five of us so far. Whoo!

I'll be there. I feel a bit stupid having to ask, but does this place have an address (Or just an intersection it's near)? I'm only on this half of the state during the school year and don't go into town too often.
We're up to six people showing up!! =P

People! We had a lot of fun at our meetup on Nov. 1st!
But guys: I forget what your NaNo names are. I came with a colorful scarf and a black Mac. WaitingTillNightfall had the hat ... I think I remembered one name and buddied that person, but you guys should identify yourselves. Or buddy me. XD Even if you just tell me a bit about your story, I remember that well enough to figure out who you were, so you don't have to say your RL name or anything if you don't want to.

Yeah, in the area. :)
I live a bit south, but I work right in Millersville. Which, hmm, is what's taking up all my free writing time lately.
