How will everyone be writing? I'll be traveling most of the month so I think it'll be an old fashioned pen and paper for me, which kind of sucks because I was diagnosed with arthritis in my right (writing) hand this summer. I would love, love, love one of the Alphasmarts that some of our Welsh nanoers are lucky enough to have (I'm not jealous! Really! Lol.) but money sucks. Lol. Who else will be relying on pen and paper and who will be click-clicking away at their laptops or alphasmarts?

I will be sitting at my desk, click-clicking away at my laptop which may or may not explode before November. Seriously, it's started making some really strange noises!
Sorry to hear about your arthritis, WitchyBelle. Hope it doesn't give you too much trouble to write!

Computer for me, but sadly not my laptop it seems as it isn't currently set up for internet. Clunky desktop keys slow my typing speed a lot but I guess I'll still do well enough. Deep down part of me does want to go back to paper and pen though... I did a lot of handwritten stuff over the last year while living abroad and there was something amazingly free about being able to write outdoors so easily.

Bummer about the hands, Witchy. I keep seeing those ads for the Thermacare hand wraps - maybe those would help? (OT - Puh-leeeeeze let the UK have Thermacare. My uterus will be so unhappy if they don't.)
My method - TG for my flashdrive. I write a lot at work, since I'm a tech writer and sit in front of a computer all day. But I'll be leaving my job after the first week of the month, so after that it's just me and my MacBook. I'll be traveling for the last week, and am very grateful for the laptop.
And backing, backing, backing up in many, many, many places!

Hi to all!
I'll be using my laptop for most of the time, and my alphasmart if Im out and about.
Ive just become a grandma, so I'll probably be doing quite a chunk of it with my grandson on my lap (I have real trouble putting him down, hes so lovely!)

Sucks about the 'ritis Witchy....but what can we do, our frail human bodies will inevitably fail us, but our writers spirit will live on forever ^_^
Me?, I'll be writing on my trusty Laptop, just hope it doesn't crap out on me like my first one did...I haven't written by hand in so long that my hand begins to hurt after a little while....a source of eternal shame for me ^_^

I have arthritis in my hands as well, so I'll be using Sheldon, my trusty desktop computer. Or maybe Sands, my laptop! I'm lucky enough to have both. (Anyone see who I named them after? *hint* Its the same man, a Johnny Depp character!)

I'll mostly be typing on my laptop or work desktop. I'm not very good at handwriting, it's too slow, I can't read half of what I write, and I get tempted into editing when I type it up later. Might have to do a little handwriting though as I'll be working as a steward at the "Great Welsh Beer Festival", so won't have any computer time whatsoever for at least 4 days.

I'll be spending most of the month nailed to my desktop. And if I'm away for long, the laptop will be nailed to me. The scary thing is when I find myself typing in my sleep ....

Oooh, congrats, Christine! :)
How do you deal with it, naddion? Sometimes I'm fine but sometimes I can't even finish writing a letter before it starts playing up? The doctors told me that I had it (after six months of them swearing that I COULDN'T have it because I'm "just too young.") but not what to actually do to cope with it. I hate relying on painkillers.
Careful Jay...Photos of you curled up asleep with your laptop, holding it like a teddy bear WILL come back and haunt you...Who took that bloody photo anyway?!?! ;)

What's more worrying is the way one hand is still tapping away at the keyboard!
hope the arthritis doesn't give you too much trouble. Is there a time of day when it pains you less? Most people find it either gets worse or gets better in the course of the day.

I was going to be doing it just with pen and paper but I've decided to try and get it dome by PDA. A couple of us had a "dry run" in January - i got to 20, 000 words then moving and other upheavals got in the way.
I have been recommended a Palm Z22 - have found some on eBay and I've picked up a foldable universal PDA keyboard from there already.
As to the software I've been recommended either Quickoffice version of word for PDA or BlueNomad.
If it all comes right I should get portable word processing - PDA, keyboards and software for around £60.
If not, well, it's back to paper and pen!

Both. I'll be sneaking out my notebook in Welsh lessons (because I'm Set 1, so do I really need to bother? Heh, I know I do, but it's boring anyway) and scribbling away, and also spending long nights killing my eyes by forcing them to stare at a screen for hours.

I'll be using a laptop in th evening and carrying a palm pilot & folding keyboard around at work and the rest of the time. I will literally be trying to squeeze every moment for writing. I have two small children and a surprisingly demanding job at the moment, so am looking at limited "proper" time each day. The rest is going to have to happen on the fly. Honestly not sure if it's possible given current lifestyle.
The fun bit is that my wife is doing nanowrimo as well, so we will both trying to avoid jobs to write...

I shall mix it up a bit I think. I will use my alphasmart neo and pen and paper and the computer for pulling it all together in stages.
How awful about the arthritis ... would you consider eating a raw vegan diet? I know a number of people with arthritis who don't take medication anymore since they started only eating raw foods. I followed the diet myself for 2 weeks and really must get back to it as I never felt so well and my skin became amazing!

Hi all!
I'm a newbie too (#waves# from Pembrokeshire) and full of trepidation. I keep wondering what on earth I have let myself in for, but I can't resist the challenge!
I shall be bashing out my attempt on my trusty Dell desktop computer in the two hours of peace I have each week day when both of my children are out at school.
Mags.
