Well, last year there seemed to be some interest in having a meet up that wasn't so way the far out in Vancouver, and someone's already asked about it this year. Hopefully I won't be as lazy as last year, and actually try to organize something. :p
I'll start by saying right off the bat that I'll be at SFU Surrey Monday-Wednesday-Friday, probably by the Blendz coffee in the campus (As opposed to the one by the elevators, 50 paces outside the campus) between 12:30 and 1:30 wherein I have a break in my schedule. Anyone can feel free to join me there if I'm not elsewhere. (I'll have a stupid silver laptop sans a battery. seriously, my laptop looks like it's gone through a war. The battery's kaput. :( Also probably be wearing a brown hoodie.)
So, who is interested in a closer writing group, where would you be coming from, and which day is best for you? We can try figuring something out that's close to those people who could actually attend the meetings.
My best day would be a Saturday, and I'm coming from Ocean Park in the South Surrey area.

A closer meetup sounds good and central city *is* pretty central (oh god, that was apparoaching pun-ness)
I personally would definitely be interested. I might actually get something done this year.
I'd be coming from fraser heights which is out near guilford. Any day works for me really.

I'm in Langley, but I will travel! XD Vancouver is a little far for me, though, on just a Student's salary and non-working wage! <33 I would love to meet up with some of the other NaNo's! <33
Oh, and I could do a Saturday meet up, but it depends on what time. I work only on Saturdays, until 4pm, but I'm pretty good any other time/day!

I wouldn't mind meeting up with some people as this is my first year participating in NaNo. I'm coming from Cloverdale but don't mind traveling a bit to meet up with people, depending on my work/life schedule. I work in Central City though, so a meet up there would work pretty well for me. Heh, I work there and didn't even realize that there was another Blenz inside the SFU campus. Guess I should take a few more breaks and walk around a bit more!

Sweet! I'm a SFU Surrey (TechOne) student too - I had no idea there were NaNoers at SFUS! -dies- I live in Ocean Park as well.
I'd love to meet up with people! 4th year doing this, and I've yet to actually meet anyone via NaNo. Thursdays and Fridays work well, though weekends are a good bet too. Maybe we can carpool once we get to know each other. We should carry signs for on the bus. XD

I'd love a weekend meetup in the Surrey area. I work Mon.-Fri 9-5 so the weekend are pretty much all I have.
This is my third year doing Nano and my first where I have wanted to go meet some others involved.
Let me know when and where and I will be there!

I'd love to meet up with some other NaNo's ^^
I don't know how much traveling I could do, but I'd try!
Any day is good for me, I think.
Though I'd probably want to meet up with someone who's not too much older than me...

Well, If SFU-Surrey is settin up shop, PLBC can't just sit on our Hands...
I am setting up a cell in Surrey Too...

So, come November, you'll all have to come on down...
Planning for Write-ins mid-week, possibly Sundays...
It'll be at Clements Coffee Bar @ Pacific Life Bible College.
But were not staging anything just yet...
So, If Vancouver is a little out fof your way, Come on down!!!

weekends are good for me, and i'd be coming from Fleetwood... not this weekend, though, i'm off to the writers conference to plug my last year's NaNo book to an agent *squeeeeeeee* well, hopefully i get an interview, i might not, but i hear it's going to be fun

how about we do an informal meetup before november to get to know everyone ?
where is pacific bible college btw?
my vote for meeting goes to the blenz in central city. I know the owner because I've been involved in using their space for filming, she is usually very nice. we dont have a huge number so it shouldnt be a prob anyways

That sounds good. It's close to transit, and Surrey Central is a hub for transit coming to/from Langley for some reason as well. Plus, it's 40 minutes closer for most of us than the one downtown.
Which day is best for people? Saturday?
Also, are we going to use these meetings for chatting about how badly things are going, or shall we use these times as group writing times? I don't mind much either way, though I'd like to try writing with other people just to see what happens. (:

interesting idea..grp writing sessions but i dont know how well it can work..
by my reckoninng not everyone is motivated to write sitting in a coffee shop (some are, though whenever I am in a coffee shop, i end up writing about coffee in one way or another or something to do with coffee seeps in my wrirting,lol- i dont want my nanowork to have anything to do with coffee.lol)
i think group help sessions are best, we can be a support group, discuss everyone's ideas as a group, give feedback and help each other...

I would be interested in a Central City meet-up. I live within walking distance so that would be uber-convenient! It's my second time doing NaNo and I'm a little bit hesitant because of my colossus failure two years ago, but hey, if nothing else I'l write something, right?
Pretty much every weeknight but Thursday works for me!

Are there bus stops close to there?
Do you mean 10 pm?
What kind of events?
Will anything happen on weekends so people who work during the week can attend?

It's actually right by a bus hub as well as the skytrain station, so there's lots of buses there.
And it's probably 10am.
It might be a meetup/writein, so activities would include things like talking about stories and stressing over word counts and "OMG! GIMME A NAME DAMMIT!" and things like that..
Dun know about the last one. I call not organizing.

I was inquiring about 66 and 152. I know that isn't close to skytrain.
I fully plan to attend at least a couple at the Surrey Central one but I want to hear about other events so I have lots of options.
The Oct 31 one might have been for 10 pm so everyone could usher in November 1st together. :)
Thanks though!

I am kind of confused. When is the exact date and time and place to meet?
Anyone from here going to the kickoff party at pacific center downtown?
25,033 / 50,000
Oct 24, 2007 - 09 46
I'm going to the kickoff with a couple other South Surrey wrimos.
So far, I think there's three meetup times, one of which is the one in my first post which is informal "I'm here anyway" time. The one at Pacific College or whatever I don't know much about.... Then we're apparently still figuring out the weekend meetup at Central City Blendz.
Also: Just because we have meetups for Surrey and whatnot doesn't mean you can't go to any of the other ones. Pick what's convenient for you! (:

For the rest of the month I'm thinking Saturday 4-6 pm. Again it is at the PLBC coffee shop.
