Hey, I see there are a few of us here. I don't believe we have a regional liaison, but that doesn't mean we can't have a kick-off party on the First. Anyone interested? I'm willing to organize if people are willing to come.

Well, I live in Grandin, so I'd be partial to somewhere in that region-- Coda or the Village Grill, or somewhere in the village. Is that no good, and what time would people be okay with? Morning, evening, etc? I'm thinking an 8pm get together, folks have a chance to eat beforehand, or at the location if they choose--and it gives us all time to throw out our first couple thousand words earlier that day. *grin*

Hey, Lynchburg checking in! Oh crud...I just got ANOTHER story idea for nanowrimo--i'm plagued by at least 8 different ideas for nano now.
Anyone up for visiting Lynchburg and starting something here? I'm looking for a write-in on weekends since apparently no one here is doing anything. And I have no car. *sigh*
Nanomail (or PM) me if you can...thanks!

I am totally interested, but have not been in the area very long, so am not very familiar with the area. So if someone points me in the right direction! lol... Suggestion: You may want to make it a little earlier, that way those who have to drive into the area from somewhere don't have to get home really late. Know what I mean?

This is my first year-- could someone explain what a write-in is?
Howzabout a 6pm gathering? My concern is that even those from farther away may have to work during the day, so travel would still be a problem. Would 7pm work?

How about 630? hehehe... Seven would be fine...I just know, depending on where in Roanoke or the area, I'm about 45-an hour away. I live around SML.

My home town is the little star city but I'm up here at JMU for college. Would it be on a weekend? Then I could get back and come to this kick off.. possibly. >.>

i'm down for whenever, wherever.
...jesus, we still have half a month to wait.... i wanna start NOW!!!

Well, the First is on a Thursday, so that's what I'm angling for. We can totally plan some things on the weekends, as well, though I may be less able to participate because of my work schedule.

Ha, I've been craving a White Russian after going bowling last week.
Anyway, 6.30 seems to be the time. The setting is still up in the air, but if the weather provides, the Village Grill does have patio seating, as well as an indoor restaurant. So does a coffeeshop near by.
About how many people are we looking at here? I guess the place will need to be nailed down a bit later, if a lot of new kids will be signing up in the next few days. Perhaps somewhere more central in Roanoke would be better-- I'm being a bit neighborhood-ist. *grin* I'll keep an eye out for a place that might even welcome a crowd of nail-biting novel-writers.

Howdy - in Rke and most likely going to need some possibility of public humiliation if I don't get started, to spur myself into actually starting the writing process. Can I just invite myself along?

K guys, this is my third year NaNo-ing. I don't think I'll be able to come to any events unless they are on weekends, because I have a wee little one, but I'm here and will try to be supportive in any way I can. Good luck to all!! TWO WEEKS AND COUNTING!!!!!!!

If anyone else in the Rke area knows a place that would be hospitable to a weekend-ly meeting of Nanoers, let us know! I'd like to meet more than twice (kick-off and thank-god-it's-over), so what do others think?

I think it'd be great to meet up a few times, to discuss the November madness we're all going through! Maybe over some coffee, a true writer's beverage : P
Well count me in for whatever festivities you guys can get together, and good luck to all : D

I would love to come to some of this stuff. But I have no car. If anyone else is coming from Hollins University and would be willing to take me a long, PM me.

I am a newly transplanted Salem(-ite?)
I'd be thrilled to meet some other folks as it is also my first year giving this a shot...
I haven't any preference for time/ place, just need a bit of advance notice in order to arrange care for my passel of munchkins.

I haven't been there but once a long time ago, but does the Panera in Tanglewood have a back room, side room, blocked off area? That would be a good place to meet if they do. Other than that...I'm really kind of out of ideas due to lack of knowing the area very well.

I'm in Roanoke, well - Salem, and I'd actually like to hopefully get to some of the stuff this year. It might be a little difficult between classes, work, and the billion other things I've commited myself to, but I'd like to try.

I'll be writing out of Blacksburg as well. Perhaps if there are more than a few of us, we can pick an evening or two to meet for whatever. It'd be fun to talk about story ideas, progress, or just anything that comes to mind!

Pop's in Grandin at 6.30, if there are too many (I can only hope! I'm telling other non-forum NaNoers in person) we'll walk down to Village Grill, or over to Grace's Place.
I'll get directions up in the thread.
