The regional forums are a little awkward this year, but I wanted to make a place for NY:Elsewhere MLs to introduce themselves so that local Wrimos can find them.
Name: Mel
Location: Bath (Steuben County)
Event Locations: Dormann Library in Bath (they have a cafe now!) and the Wegman's Cafe in Hornell. Even if you don't live locally, you're welcome to join in if you don't mind the drive!
Misc: I've participated in NaNo since 2004; last year was my first as an ML. I write fantasy and sci-fi and hope to be published someday. I've been challenged to write 100k this year, so that's what I'm going for. Yes, I am insane.

Name: Aimee
Location: Poughkeepsie (Dutchess county)
Event Locations: Still deciding. Thinking of Panera Bread, Barnes and Noble and Starbucks because they are accessible. Also going to look into the Muddy Cup. Suggestions are welcome.
Misc: This is also my fourth year doing nano. I won in 2005 and 2004. Last year everyone thought I was insane for attempting nano (my son was born at the end of September) and perhaps I am, but I am very proud of the 15k that I wrote last year. This is my first year as a ML and I am very excited. I write Literary Fiction and I hope to be published soon.

Sounds great to me- Panera, B&N, and Starbucks are all on Route 9 so even if someone wants to come from a little further away it's still easy to find. I've never heard of the Muddy Cup but just found their website. Looks cozy. :-)

Hello, all! I'm Nora, I'm the Municipal Liaison for Upper Westchester County (which would also include those in Putnam County who wouldn't mind going to Peekskill or thereabouts for a write in). This is my second year as a ML, and my FIFTH year doing NaNo.
We'll be doing events at the Peekskill Coffee House and possibly at the Black Cow in Croton. Anyone who's in my area is more than welcome to offer other suggestions for places and times for write-ins.
Looking forward to seeing all of you again.
Oh, and Atalanta? Don't worry about the 100K; I've broken that every year I've done NaNo, and I'm sure you can do it , too.

...Well...
Name: Just call me Qz if Qzxyntop is too much to type every time (and get right)
Location: Several places. At times, I could be noveling while visiting Pennsylvania.
Event Locations: Correct me if I misunderstood this, but I'll be noveling from my house or a local bookplace.
Misc: I am a manga writer outside of NaNoWriMo. I have been drawing for years and I hope to make manga a career for myself once I'm out of school. I also hope that one of my novels will be published from my recent NaNo in July (Hey, that's how long I waited to open my Christmas present, too.) which was successful, and also my first.

Hi, I'm Judith Harper, the ML for NaNoWriMo in the Adirondacks.
This is my second year as a ML and so far our group is off to a great start. We live in a very rural area. Last year we had ten participants and five winners. This year we have at least 17 people taking the NaNo pledge.
We're scheduling events in the Johnsburg, northern Warren County area, and we'll be making a few field trips to Glens Falls and Queensbury. I hope I'll be able to interest at least a handful of brave souls to caravan to Saratoga Springs, where we could hit numerous venues to write in.
We welcome anyone who'd like to join us at one or more of our events. We're a friendly, diverse, energetic, and supportive group.

All the places the Poughkeepsie ML mentioned are in Kingston. Apparently we don't get our own region. :-p

Great to meet you Aimee. I'm always at Panera (both on rte. 9) since the wifi is free. When are meet ups? I'm laggin' on my word count this year and could use some comradery to get back in the game.
