Looking for others who are in the area of Newport News, such as those in Hampton, Yorktown, Williamsburg, etc :D

Hey, I'm in Williamsburg. I've never done NaNoWriMo before, though I've published several novels. I'm looking for a good kick to get back to writing regularly and this looks like just the thing!

Hey, I'm in Hampton, but I'm on the ML for the VA Beach and Norfolk Nanos.

I'm in Hampton Roads too =) This is my first time doing this, but my brother has been trying to get me to do it forever. And I need a kick in the pants to write. I am going to try my hardest... going to be interesting with a newborn ;)

I know our fearless ML is planning a meet up in Norfolk/VA Beach, but do you guys want to try meeting up sometime on the Peninsula?

I know we have people from all over the Peninsula, (Williamsburg, Hampton, Yorktown, Newport News), so I'm thinking the central place would be either Newport News or Yorktown.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Alix, I don't want to step on your toes since you're ML so feel free to organize this if you want :D

I for one would be very interested in a meet up to write on the peninsula!

Salutations from Hampton! I would be interested in a peninsula meeting place as well!

I don't technically live on the peninsula anymore, but my parents live in Poquoson, and I'll be visiting two weekends in November - Nekocon and Thanksgiving. If there are any meet-ups when I'm in the area, I'd love to drop by. Peninsula is such a nice area!

Ok when is good for everyone? Suggestions on a place to meet?

Like I said, I'm thinking Newport News or Yorktown since both are kind of in the middle.

I think it would be awesome if could arrange one day a week (same day to make it easy) to meet up some place like Barnes & Noble or Panera or a coffee joint or whatever :)

Hello,

I am in Hampton/Newport News as well. Barnes and Nobles and Panera both have good environments to write in.

I'm from Newport News. This will be the first time I have tried this NaNoWriMo thing. Can't wait to start.

How would everyone like to meet for lunch on Sunday?

I figure that give us a chance to meet and shoot the breeze in person and maybe figure out when we want to meet again and where. It'll be good to relax the first time we meet each other because the other times will be CRAZY with pounding on the keyboards.

So what do you guys say?

While I know its going to look skewed since I live in Newport News, I really do think its the best place since its basically in the middle of the Peninsula cities.

As far as locations there, I'm open to suggestions.

Let's try and get this decided quickly so we can all make sure we can be there Sunday :D

Once again though, if our ML would like to organize this, I'm all for that. I don't want to step on any toes, but I just think it'll be better for us Peninsula participants to have our meetings on the Peninsula.

If anyone wants to IM me, feel free :D

My screen name for AIM is Nave1981

Depends on the time and place. I'll be in church and probably won't be available until after 1pm, so it's a bit iffy for me.

Perfectly understandable :)

How's 2 PM work for everyone?

As far as location, I'm open to any place for lunch or we could just go to Panera (I'm thinking the one on Jefferson near Kohl's because the one across from CNU is smaller and usually has a lot of college students there) and get some coffee and chit chat :D

Ok, I'm in Smithfield area... NN may be close enough for me. As for what date, is Oct 31st out, b/c of Halloween? ... And Barnes & Noble in NN sounds good... ??

I think the 31st will be out because of Halloween. I love scaring kids too much (they have to earn that candy! :D ) to give it up.

But I'm not the deciding vote. If others want to do the 31st that's cool :D

I'm all for B&N in NN :D

My only problem with them is that they don't have much room to sit, at least not for a big group. But if it ends up just being a couple people it could be great :D

Sorry it took me so long to get here... I just found out about this particular thread today. Honestly, the website is so slow, I don't stop by very often. But, all that said, I would love to meet up with you guys!

Is there anyone here that could meet during the day instead of the evenings? I can do either, but I have fewer conflicts during the day as a stay at home mom of school aged kids! Or would a weekend afternoon be better?

I am in Newport News... very close to B&N and Panera by Kohls. Anyone up for meeting this week?

I'm up for meeting this week :)

Maybe we can meet up at Panera in Newport News on Jefferson?

They have nice tables, depending on the number of people showing up we can get big tables, they have free wi fi and they dont bother you.

I'm free everynight other then Halloween ;)
:)

I can definitely meet up this Thursday, but it would have to be after 5:30. I work in Norfolk and traffic kind of... ok well it REALLY sucks, but that's beside the point.

And Panera on Jefferson works for me! What about you guys? How would say... Thursday at around.. 7ish or 8ish work at Panera in Jefferson Commons?

I live in Newport News. This is my second year attempting Nano, didn't finish last year. My one goal is to type 50,000 words in some intelligible fashion; making it good is a goal for another year at this point. I'm up for coffee/chat, but my schedule's hectic, so...voice a time/place and I'll try to be there. :)

Ok let's say Panera then at 7:30? The panera on Jefferson in the Jefferson Commons shopping center :)

I'll try and have a sign on my laptop that says NaNoWriMo :D
