Hey all,
Old school NaNo-er here, I was the ML for a few years way back, and actually was the one that got Long Island its own space separate from NYC and Queens (because, you know, Long Island is just part of NYC and Queens, right?)... We started with a lot of people in Nassau and a few people in western suffolk, so as a compromise location-wise, we started meeting at a diner on 110 in Huntington, and sometimes dinner at John Harvards by the Smithhaven Mall. I know a few people fromt hat original group have moved away to CT and even down to Florida, but it is great to see the Long Island group still going!
I haven't 'NaNo'd' in a while, but I am going to give it a shot this year. In 2004 my career in the music industry really took off, leaving my writing to collect dust. Even though I've not done much writing recently, I am always thinking of new ideas. This year, instead of working on an existing piece like i have in the past, i am going to start on something completely new. I am excited!
Sean

Hello! I'm a newbie NaNo'er from Nassau. Glad to see LI represented -- I was afraid I'd have to commute into the city for meetups!

Hi! I'm Liz, from Farmingdale. (Audience: Hi Liz.) And this is my third year, going on my (most likely) third loss (woohoo!). But I'm hoping to make at least 16,000 words. I'm trying to set reasonable goals considering my previous horrid attempts (trust me, they both SUCKED!) and I'm hoping this year goes better. =)
Nice to meet you, because I don't believe we've met before. Unless I'm just being forgetful again. Which is very possible. ^^;
Edit: Ooops, guess who replied to the wrong post? Liz did! xD Sorry.

If Liz is the Liz that i think she is (and if you are the Liz who I think you are - Hello, dahling!) then we have two representing from Farmingdale in Nassau. My name is Aly and I'm going to be in Boston for the majority of the month, but wanted to make sure I introduced myself should there be some sort of exciting event going on over Thanksgiving, when I'll be back home for break. This will be my fourth year and fourth loss - I do this stictly to torture myself and, like Liz, don't plan on winning anything. My story this year is still being determined, but in the past I have written some YA-esque and fantasy stuff for Wrimo. Maybe we will meet, maybe we will not - but either way, Go, Long Island!

Hey there Sean! My name is Maris, I'm going to ML this year and I am very excited that you're coming back! Yeah we're going to meet up somewhere in the middle since we got people from the Nassau/Queens border and also out to Riverhead. Really looking foward to see you there!

It is indeed the Liz you're thinking about--Hi Aly!
And we actually have...*counts* About four from Farmingdale, I believe, seeing as I've gotten Allison to do it too, along with Breanna who also did it last year. =)

Oh, lovely! All girls I love! We'll HAVE to do something over Thanksgiving, then... hopefully that's BEFORE the point where I decide that I'm in the midst of a nervous breakdown and back off a bit. It happens every year, more or less - some worse than others. Send Bre my regards, as well. I wish you weren't all so far away - you seem like you'd be very good at kicking my butt into some semblence of 'gear.'

Hey!
Sounds great! I am pretty excited to get started this year... in the past I have worked on my 2 novels, The Lighthouse Keeper, and The Lords of Air and Water, but this year, i am starting something completely new, something with a bit of Neil Gaiman to it. I hope it turns out halfway decent!

Hi everyone, I'm Christopher, but call me Chris. (Well call me anything as long as you call me when the food is ready!)
Currently from Wading River. When I'm not doing NaNoWriMo I am singing in a Barbershop Harmony Society Chorus, the North Shore Chamber Choir and in the little parish church choir of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church. I am a member of the Knights of Columbus, currently acting as District Deputy (the guys in the red jackets) for the 2nd NY district which includes the North Fork of Long Island with all those lovely vineyards. I currently work in Hauppauge as a consultant for Reuters.

Hi everyone! I'm Cindie, this is my second NaNo (hopefully second winning year as well!). I'm not actually on Long Island for most of NaNo, but when I am home I live in Commack, which is in Suffolk County. I'm away at school in Poughkeepsie, but I'd rather be in the LI region than "New York: Elsewhere", because, well, Long Island is my home for another year or so at least. So while I probably won't be able to make it to any events, I figured I'd introduce myself anyway!

Hey,
I can't wait for the get together, this is my first NaNo so I'm excited about meeting people in the area that are as crazy as I am. I live in Bay Shore, which is western suffolk, so wherever it is, I'm game. :)

Hey there,
I live on Long Beach but would be up to come to Huntington for meet-ups. We should get the Strong Island group together! If we do, I promise not to call it Strong Island again...

I like the name Strong Island... heehee, that sounds cool though, what group was that?
Glad to see everyone getting along so well! I'm so excited for next week, I hope I'll be able to concentrate on work, lol
Anyways, still waiting for confirmation on possible places, I got a suggestion that to sort of get two birds with one stone so to speak, we could all get together at the Black Haus Brewery/Restaurant, they do have a large room and I think as long as I call them ahead and tell them we're having what, 30-40 people it could work. Again, for any with concerned parents, they are still welcome to join us (in fact I encourage it! ^_^), the restaurant is family-friendly, and I think this could allow us to hold the meeting a little later in the day to allow for a few more people to join us. I am still going to hold out for the KoC Hall location if possible, but for now any major objections?

Ha, I'm an idiot and have been using my ScriptFrenzy account instead of my NaNo one (I didn't realize they were two different ones until I got an email about not signing in yet!)
So yeah, I'll still be in Poughkeepsie, but if it matters, this is the right account, not that one.

Hey all:
I am a first-time NaNo'er, and I am very excited!! My mom has also signed up to take the challenge as well.
A little bit of background on me - I am a writer for Elements magazine, as well as a freelance writer and film student at The Graduate Center. I am also in the process of launching an online magazine that hopefully some of you may be interested in contributing to when this long month is all said and done =)
I have a lot of ideas and a pretty good inkling about what I want to devote November to, so it should be interesting.
I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks!!

Hi, folks -- I'm hailing from Huntington, so it sounds like a lot of the congregations are happening more or less in my back yard. I didn't really stick my neck out for any get-togethers before, but I am going to try to do that this year. (I "won" in 2006, and attempted in 2004 but didn't finish.) Last year's success story on my end has encouraged me to try doing it each year from now on, and I have a good idea of where I'm headed this time around.
Good luck to everyone else here.

This is my first year doing Nanowrimo and I'm really looking forward to it. I live right near Farmingdale, in West Babylon, by Route 110. I often sit in Borders in Farmingdale and write. It would be great to find some writing partners so we can keep each other company while we visit our fantasy worlds. My name is Candy. Anyone interested in meeting at Borders to write, in the evenings?

Hi Everyone! My name is Elyse from Roslyn and this is my first Nano! I've written a few novels but never did one like this where I didn't self edit myself the entire time, so I'm really interested to see how it comes out. I plan on coming to the kick-off party, so see everyone there!

Hi everyone!
I'm Jessica, 21, and I'm a first time NaNoWriMo-er based in Lake Ronkonkoma.
I graduated from C.W. Post this past May with a B.F.A. in Journalism, and am currently working in Internal Communications for an investment bank, downtown.
I'd like to make it out to some of the gatherings because that seems like half the fun! - I'm down to meet up on LI in the evenings around 8:30 p.m. or so, or on weekends (though I'll likely be a double-agent in NYC groups).
I'm totally pumped to write a 50,000 word stream of consciousness novel that will get give me some momentum for a current project - I've never buckled down and done anything quite like this.
Looking forward to meeting interesting LI writers!
Jess

Hey,
This is my first year of nanowrimo. I'm really excited! Yeah, I'm somewhere on LI. Mom doesn't want me to say so I won't.
I'm 14. Lets see, my mom doesn't want my real name out there either so yeah, you can all call me Archy (Ar-ky). One of the many nicknames I've picked up.
Let's see, the whole novel thing... I tried to write one once...horrible idea. Worked on it for three years realized it was mostly garbage. Then I discovered role playing and that is what I have been doing besides writing short stories.
So yeah, it's nice to meet you people, though I doubt I'll ever actually meet you.
Archy

Hey, all,
First year - been wanting to write a novel since forever. I've been writing screenplays for the past five years. I even wrote, directed and produced my first short film this summer. Now it's time for me to stop wanting and start making it happen with the novel.
I live in Miller Place. I'm looking forward to this, but am a bit nervous, as I'm used to editing and rewriting. I'm hoping this also teaches me to let go and get it on the page before tearing it apart.
:-)

hello all, third time nano'er, but i never broke 50k. i'm super pumped about this one, though. i've taken vacation this past week to try to get some outlining done for it. i have a good feeling about this one.
also, i gave it the old college try to make it to the kick off party, but there's no cure for stupid. i showed up at 5:30, because i thought it started at 6. sigh. i definitely want to join a write in, though.
