Pretoria here.

Faerie Glen, to be precise. And a semi-newbie. I joined in 2005 at the insistence of Pen, but life happened, as it tends to do, and all plans for writing got sent out the window at 20K words.

Hopefully, this year fares better. Already half the annual November events have been moved to October, or cancelled entirely. Add to that the fact that I have my own laptop now and don't have to sneak on to my husband's every opportunity I get, and it makes for much better and more writing conducive circumstances.

Enough from me though, I need to save the verbosity for November...

Edit: shortened the subject so hopefully it shouldn't cause errors when replying anymore.

Howdi guys! Glad to see our numbers rising.

Remember to stop by the Intro thread (http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1000334) and tell us a little about you and your novel. Also, keep an eye on the forum, from next week we will be having discussions about where / when the Gauteng write-ins will be held.

hi there from Faerie Glen/Olympus. Did it in 2004 and 2005 but somehow went off the rails in 2006. This is, God willing, the last time I Will be doing NANO from RSA - next time it will be from a completely different part of the world!!

God Bless to all!!!

Laptops charged indeed - with these power failures.....

I'm here, in Hatfield.

It's my second NaNo.

Anybody interested in a write-in in Pretoria during the week? I can't do weekends or outside Pretoria.

Official thread for Gauteng write-in / meet-up planning: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1039667

Nothing has been set in stone yet, so if you would like to suggest different times / venues for anywhere in Gauteng, please do. Can't promise we will be able to accommodate every wish, but will certainly try to get as many of them as possible. I'm fairly flexible on this.

So join in on discussions and let me know where and when suits you best.

Quick question, are we supposed to post in the novel in the excerpt section? Or anywhere for that matter? Or just update the word count?

Just update the word count for now.

You can post a tiny bit of your novel in the excerpt section so people viewing your profile can read what you're writing. Sort of like a teaser. But only if you want to, if you don't, you can leave that bit blank.

Later on in the month there will be an area to upload your entire novel so the full word count can be verified (whereafter if you’ve made your 50k, you get the winners bar and all that).
