Hey everyone, I know at least a few of you are in the Cedar City area and I thought it'd be cool if we could all get together sometime since Provo's too far. Let me know if you're interested so we can set it up.

If I lay down...if I just lay here...will you lie with me and just forget the world?

It'd also be cool to get to know you all, even if you can't make it to a meeting/party, so if you want to introduce yourselves here...
I'm a student at SUU. This is my second year with NaNoWriMo; I won last year, it was very exciting! My favorite genre is Speculative Fiction (SF) which is basically a lump of SciFi and Fantasy. I am writing several novels aside from NaNo and I've been writing for about 4 years.

some of us don't have a way of actually meeting, but we do try and get together online :) if you have YIM then i can add you we can have a group chat from there. I also think someone else might be working on a chat room that you can access through a browser. or through this site http://utahwriters.proboards74.com/index.cgi you'll have to log into the see the boards and to see the chat room :)
Oh do forget to sign up for the Utah elswhere war!

Juniper C? I know someone in Manzanita E and one of my roommates are doing it too. We should all get together sometime before NaNo starts.

Sweet. That definitely sounds like a plan! We could even have our own support group for when the terrible second week happens. Yay for college students finding time to pull out 50,000+ words!

Yay! More people than just me are doing this in Cedar! :D
I'm also an SUU student (we're all crazy for doing this right before finals, you know), and this will be my first year trying NaNoWirMo .... Definitely not in on campus housing (I lived there for the last 2 years, wanted to get out and away this year), and .... I've been writing for a while :) As long as I can remember, actually.
Aaaanyway, I'm glad that there's more than just me in Cedar :D Hope to see you all around :)

Yeah, definitely. I think we should have write-ins at the SUU Library, I did a bunch of them last year but there were only 2 or 3 of us at a time. But if you're a student and don't have your own, you can check out a laptop to use in the library and we can get a study room and all get together. I think it'd be great if we could have a kickoff party too, maybe this weekend, but I haven't got time to plan it. But if someone else does, we can reserve either the Loft in Juniper or the Conference Rooms in Eccles A to meet, it's a nice central location since it looks like most of us are on campus. Anyway, let me know if anyone is interested. And happy writing, only two more days!

There's a chance the JC girls and I (there are at least four of us) could handle tossing a kick-off party together. Let me call the RA and see what happens. Is there any night and time better for y'all?
...Yes, I said "y'all"...I come from a hick town, and I can do that.

I say ya'll too and I'm from the suburbs in Maryland. :D
I'm usually free Friday's after 5pm and anytime on Saturdays except for this Saturday I'll be busy from 5pm on.
If anyone wants to get together for write-ins, I'm also somewhat free during the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so let me know if either of those days are good for you so we can work something out.

I just saw this. I'm in Cedar City as well. Though I'm not a student. If you've been to the Sonic in the last two months during lunch you may have seen me!! I'm the carhop!!! Stop in and say "HI".
I think it would be fun to do some write-ins, but my schedule is soo hectic that I don't know when I'm free. Keep me posted though, and when I am free I'll see if I can join you!!!

Hey, I've got a random question ... or two XD
So, I like the idea of write-ins at the library ... but I don't have a laptop (my boyfriend is borrowing mine). Where/how do I check out a laptop, and does it cost monies? I don't have those :( Anyway, it'd be great to hang out with you all, and it would be great to meet some WriMos - after all, we're all a little crazy, and we might as well share the joy :D

Checking out a laptop at the library is really easy. You just need your student ID to check it out like with anything else. The first time you'll have to sign an agreement that you won't break the laptop etc and that's good for the semester. Just go to the checkout desk and ask to check out a laptop and they'll give you the laptop in a carry case with a cord and a cute little mouse. If I remember right they're good for 4 hours and you can renew them if you need to at 4 hours. You can use the laptop anywhere in the library. I would recommend using a flashdrive if you've got one, because the laptops randomly disconnect from the school network and you'll lose anything you haven't saved when it does that. I lost the same page twice before I wrote it down on paper and then went out and bought a flashdrive.
Write-ins! Yes, I totally agree with the craziness and sharing the joy. If anyone wants to get together for a write-in I can do one this evening or tomorrow during the day. We can check out a study room and anyone who needs to can check out a laptop. Let me know if there's a time any of you can get together today or tomorrow.

I'm also a student at SUU, though I don't live on campus and have a family and such. Don't have much time for get togethers, but it's good to know there are others here doing this. Good luck!

Hey, there's a write-in happening right now. From 12-1:59 today we're up in room 312 in the library. Drop by and join the oddness. If need be we can be here longer or come again at a different time, but I'm behind by a few thousand words...so we had an impromptu one...

I missed the write-in. How'd it go? When's the next one? It might be better if we plan on in advance. It's up to all of you though. If you guys would like and you don't mind sitting out in the cold to write, why don't you bring your laptops or pads of paper and come to Sonic in Cedar. Let me know if you wouldn't mind that and I'll talk to the GM and see if it would be alright!!! You might have to at least buy a drink. And if we decide to I say come from 2-4pm and you could get drinks half price!!! Let me know. I'll talk to the boss tonight and see what he says and let you know tomorrow morning. I'll ask if everyday from 2-4pm we could host a write-in for all of us that want to!!! I'll keep ya posted!!!

The write-in actually went rather well for one that happened rather randomly.*laughs*I know I personally got at least two thousand words in, and that makes me happy.
With weather as nice as we've been having sitting out at Sonic doesn't sound too bad at all, actually. I know I enjoy the raspberry limeaid, so I wouldn't be upset with stopping past Sonic once in a while to do some writing. Let me know what your boss says. ^^

2-4 at Sonic is fine by me as long as it's on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday (I have class and work MWF) and I'd need an outlet because my laptop lasts about 10 minutes on battery. I could just bring paper though, but let me know if there's an outlet; that would be easier. We were saying at our write-in yesterday that we should have snacks and meeting at Sonic would fix that. Sounds like fun, let me know if it works for the rest of you all and what day you decide to do it.
