The story is about a single mom (early 30's) with Denis The Menace-esque six-year-old twins; she's a caterer, her best friend is a wedding planner, and she (the single mom caterer) meets the man of her dreams. The story focuses on her accident prone life, her twins to blame for most of what she experiences. It's a little bit funny, a little bit "awwwwwwwwww..." and a whole lotta' exploring life in all of it's wacky, craziness.

Not sure what genre this would be in. Any ideas? Is "Mainstream Fiction" the best place for me?

Sounds pretty mainstream to me.

If you wander a bit in the direction of ChickLit, we forgive you :P

Actually it sounds like "mommie-lit," a legitimate genre a friend has been working on a novel in for a while (and has an agent for).

But I think it fits in Mainstream just fine.

I like the concept. I'd read it. :)

I have a WIP with similar themes. My novel is about a young woman who becomes a nanny to two young boys, age 3 and 5, and knows nothing about kids. She gets into some real scrapes with them. Her best friend is the chef/caterer (and I may be writing about her in my nano project not sure yet). To top it all off, my MC falls for the kids' dad. The title of my novel is "No Experience Necessary."

Sounds like Mommie Lit or Romance to me, not mainstream. It sounds like a great story, though.
