My name is James Gifford and I am the Co-Municipal Liaison for the Prescott area. I wanted to kick off this forum by letting you know that we will be having a kick off get together on Tuesday October 30th at the Coffee Depot. It's located on the corner of Granite and Goodwin. The start time will be at 6:00 pm. Will will be discussing write ins and other tricks of the trade to keep us sane and writing away during the NANO. Please come and join us for some caffeine and chat.

WooHoo!!! Way to go, James. Yes, folks, the party begins. Zane and Teresa are the owners of The Coffee Depot and are looking forward to meeting all us crazy Wrimos. I've tried to warn them but they've no idea what happens to writers when they turn into Wrimos.

Come on out and meet your fellow writers. James and I intend to host weekly write ins. If you can't make it, post a notice here and we'll help you coordinate a write in closer to you. It's so good to have a Prescott area group and I can't wait to meet everyone.

There are two Nano's here in this household (hopefully the other member will post soon). My name is Julieann. We've put a note on the calender for the kick-off party on the 30th. Hopefully the owners of the Coffee Depot will have hot tea for those of us who love the smell of good coffee, but not the taste. ;) Nice to see that a group is forming in the area!

The write-ins sound fun, but I have severe problems with fatigue, so going out at night on a regular basis is out. Otherwise I won't have any energy to actually write. To help combat that, I've started waking up a little earlier each week of this month, so that by the time November comes around I'll have plenty of writing time before going to work. The good news is that once I sit down, I can really pound out the words. I can do 10,000 word weekends, and 2,000 in a day if things go right.

This will be my first year actually participating in a NaNoWriMo. I've known about it for years, but each year something has happened to prevent me from doing it. Not this year!

Is it time to write yet? ;P

Hi Julieann and welcome. The Coffee Depot has some good teas for you to select from. I hope your health issues will allow you to come out for our kick off. I completely understand if you can't make the weekly write-ins. Know that James and I are here for you as well as the other Prescott Wrimos. We'll be posting helpful tips throughout the month to keep everybody motivated and on track to their goal - 50K in 30 days.

Writing commences November 1st. Until then, sketch out your characters, settings, plot outlines, and whatever else you need to put pen to paper or finger to keyboard on the 1st.

HINT: I like physical props to keep me in the mood. Last year, I found this fish night light at a flea market that reminded me of a major scene in the story I was working on. This year, it's a cowboy boot and a yoga lady charm so far.

Definitely planning on being at the Coffee Depot on the 30th, and the big party at the end. The in-between meetings, we'll have to see about.

Plot and motivation hasn't been a problem at all, and in fact as of this weekend I have the outline finished! I started a Live Journal just to document the process as I think it'll be fun to go back one this is all done and see the progress (if anyone is curious it's at http://dreamerscove.livejournal.com). I'm chomping at the bit to start writing on it! :-)

And, of course, my silly muse has been attacking me with other story ideas all through this. This morning I was mugged while driving to work. So I've been writing those down and then putting them aside. Time to write those stories is later. ;-)

Glad to see there's a Prescott group this year. Last year I failed miserably, but I'm giving it a go again. I've put the get-together on my calendar!
