I'm representing the Anderson region, but I thought I'd throw in Muncie as well. I'm just looking for fellow participants who'll be jam-packing their mind with a 50k+ novel. I am currently debating whether mine is a mainstream fiction novel or borderline fantasy.

Hey, I'm a Ball State student, living in Muncie, and this is my first year doing this. My story is essentially a romantic comedy, but nothing's set in stone.

Thanks for starting up the thread--and for the Muncie shout-out! Another Ball State student here (also a first-timer)...book's pretty much young adult with "borderline fantasy" as well...that's a good term for it, actually. Here's to a fantastically frenzied month of writing up ahead of us! Best of luck to us all!

I'm actually a Ball State grad myself (hence starting it up for both Anderson and Muncie). This will be my first time, too, so I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm giving some mainstream fiction a try. There's touches of fantasy in it, but it's not your typical "genre" fantasy story...

Hey, call out from Marion-Grant County just a half hour north.

We already have four folks on board, with potential for more. I'm going to post signs at Starbucks, Tree of Life (nearby coffeehouse/Christian bookstore) IWU and Taylor, so more NaNo participants could be coming.

Marion Public LIbrary will have get-togethers for NaNoWriMo 6-7 p.m. Oct. 25, Nov. 1, Nov. 8, Nov. 15 and Nov. 29. We did it last year, and having a little moral support really helps. It also helps to have someone help you when there's a plot hole big enough to park three semis end to end -- not that it happened to me. (OK, it did happen to me.) You're welcome to join us. I work at the library, so if you need anything, let me know. (If you know kids doing NaNo, we're going to have kid workshops 4:30-5:30 p.m. the Thursdays in November.

If y'all want to write afterward, the library is open until 8 p.m. Starbucks is quite friendly to writers. Tree of Life is, too, but I don't know the hours. Both are on Ind. 9 on the south end of town (near Wal-Mart), so it wouldn't be outrageous for at least the Anderson crowd. Or there's the Starbucks at the Gas City exit off of I-69, which would be quite reasonable for an almost-central meeting.

Maybe we can have a regional write-in deep into November, perhaps somewhere along I-69. Or we could rotate. We have at least 1 college student, so a college get-together might work, too.

My name's Christie. I'm an AU grad...living in Anderson, working on the north side of Fishers.

This is my second time doing this, and I am EXCITED! I just got a new computer desk, so I'm setting it up and hanging things all around for inspiration. No idea what I'll be writing about, but that's half the fun...letting the story take you where it wants to go.

I'd be up for meeting in Anderson, for the few of us there are. Starbucks and the library are both options. We could even meet over breakfast at Eva's or tacos at the Hacienda. Just let me know!

Good luck, everyone!

Hi, all!

My name's Steve, and I'm reporting in from the bustling metropolis of Chesterfield. We moved from Jacksonville, Florida at the end of July (my wife's family is from here) and so far, I'm enjoying it very much. ("So far," because it hasn't snowed yet!)

This is my maiden voyage with NaNoWriMo, although I've been aware of it for several years. That's because every year, I don't remember that it's going on until about 15 November--and I'm sure I'll need all thirty days. The novel itself will be a fairly straightforward action adventure type (at least I hope it will: I'm going into this with nothing more than a vague idea and a couple of pages of notes. We'll see what happens.).

I'm delighted to be aboard. Good luck to all of us!

If people would be willing to meet at the Anderson Library, they have great spots to meet -- especially by the vending machines -- I say we should, just to give each other some creative auras. There seems to be one or two AU students around and other locals. What do you all think?

That is a -great- idea. I'd be happy to meet at the library.

I think it would be a good idea to set a regular meeting schedule - weekly at a set time - to keep ourselves motivated. But I might be a little too type A for the other creative types around here ;)

Library hours are:

Hours:
Monday - Thursday, 9am to 9pm
Friday and Saturday, 9am to 5:30pm
Sunday 1 to 5pm

What works for everyone??

In addition the Starbucks on the bypass may have more writer-friendly hours.

I'm in Muncie and I've had a lot of plans to write but this is a good opportunity to make myself just sit and write! I'm planning to write a romance novel.

I live in south Pendleton and work in Anderson, so I'm hoping that counts. Oh, heck, I say it does! HA!

Last year was my first NaNo, and I pushed it out and won in the end. Last year, though, I had a story idea in mind. This year I'm winging it. Also, this year, I'm not sure my wife will have the patience to put up with me doing this. :-D So we'll see.

To BatsMeow:

I don't think it's too type A to set a day and time. I'm all for that. Is 5 p.m. to early for some? If you can/would like to meet up at the Anderson Public Library what is a time you would be able to make it?

Please respond and we'll just take it from there!

STARBUCKS.

My two sons and I will be at Starbucks [on Scatterfield in Anderson] tonight at roughly 7pm. I need to get home from work and take them to the store to by books/journals to write in as they are doing the junior version of NaNoWriMo and I promised a "go out and write" outing tonight.

If you come... I'll be the gothie with two little boys.
I carry a purse with a big skull and crossbones and write in a brown leather journal with a gem-pouch hanging from the binding.

I know it's not the -right- way, but i'm pen-and-papering this year. I write better when I can feel what I'm doing.

I work at IUPUI and won't get home from work tonight until after 5:30, so... the library will be closed then. I'll check in later with potential times for next week. I did post abotu a meeting tonight at the coffeshop.

An Andersonian and AU grad representin' here! I think Starbucks is a great place to write (and I do actually have a laptop when I remember to bring it along) though the APL sounds like a great place, too.

Starbucks on the bypass.

Tuesday at 7:30 ish. Goth girl, dressed in black. I'll have my two sons with me. We'll be there until 8:30 or so since the kids have to be in bed at 9.

I actually live in Noblesville now, but I graduated from Ball State (nobody's answering the Hamilton County thread, so I got lonely).

This is my first time doing NaNo, but I have another manuscript (YA sci-fi), and I've been querying agents for awhile now. I have one agent reading the full manuscript, and I've learned a lot about query letters this past year, so if anyone here thinks their NaNo story might turn into something worth publishing, I'd be happy to direct you to some reliable agent sites and books on publishing.

This is very exciting! It's nice to meet other people in Indiana who are writing this month.

And to all you students at Ball State right now: did you meet David Letterman?

That's my writing place. I write at the library every day. We should DEFINITELY do that. Next year, too!!

I'll be in the library tomorrow at 3:30 or so. Look for the 13-year-old with a green jacket. I'll be waiting for you!
PLEASE COME!!! I'm a lonely one at the library, and i need other WriMos with me! That would be great!
