Hey Everyone!

It's time to think about our kickoff party! Last year, we had an awesome time at Perkins in St. Catharines, but let's talk about our options and dates.
I was thinking perhaps November 3rd, as I have to deal with inventory at my work on the first.

Here are a few suggestions for the place:

*Perkins (Lake street, St. Catharines)
*Sweets Cafe (Ontario street, St. Catharines)
*Boston Pizza (Dorchester/Morrison Niagara Falls)
*Fine Grind (downtown St Catharines)
*any other place you can think of

----------
I'm gonna eat your socks!

November 3rd works for me. I go to boarding school, so it can be hard for me to get off campus during the week.

Oooh, Fine Grind would be awesome, and the proprietor (Rob) is the Nicest Guy Ever (tm). :D

It would be great if we could get some approximate numbers together as to who will attend the Kickoff party so we can make reservations/warn whichever place we will take over ;)

and yeah, Rob is pretty much made of 100% awesome

Are these places exspensive to hang out in, etc?

I don't mean to be blunt or rude but November's a tight month for us and I plan to get my LONG awaited tattoo on or around the first but I also want to make a stab at making some contacts, etc in the writing communitiy.

Would anyone mind if I brought my hubby along with me since he's the one that drives and is the super reader between the two of us and my beta reader??

Fine Grind's prices are good. Lower than a standard coffeehouse price-just don't eat alot (that's where the food gets you). My husband and I had a coffee and a milkshake each, and split a giant plate of nachos for around $20.

And I don't know about the others, but I don't mind about your husband. Mine will probably come.:D

*phew* My love Boo is a super ready and would make for a great beta-reader if ya can just get through his thick skull and he's reading something he likes, like R.L Salvatore and the likes. The decades of D&D coming out in him, makes him refere to all were-things as if it's some roleplaying term. *lol*

Maybe since my guy won't be the only hubby there he won't feel so out of sort and him being the o'so social butterfly will give me to time to get use to the place and people :)

Oooh, your husband sounds like he would be a good beta-reader for the novel I have in mind-it's based on one of my D&D characters, a Paladin. :D And my husband has been playing role-playing games since he was old enough to make a character, so it sounds like the two of them would get along. :D

haha, bring your husbands and make them do NaNo as well!

I am going to send out a mass e-mail soon, but just to post here, if everyone can bring pen and paper, laptop, typewriter, chisel and stone plate or whatever utensils you use for writing. After we do a bunch of kick-offing, we can go straight into upping our word count!

Unless hubby robs that bank for Halloween I will likely be doing it manually, if at all since I don't have a lab top *cries and pouts* but I'd likely be too spazzed to concentrate on writing till a hour or two into it. Maybe I'll bring the binder - I'll worry about that then.

That's alright. No one is forced to write of course, so long as there is an atmosphere in which those who want to write are able to :)

As soon as it is decided on I will send out an e-mail, post here and put up an event for our region. I usually also include directions for anyone who needs them.

In regards to where we will end up doing it, if there are more than five or six of us, I wouldn't want to take over Rob's place (the Fine Grind) on a Saturday when he has so many regulars come in.

Barring unforeseen disaster, I'm there. Just let me know when and where.

So far I have six wrimos and two husbands...

for ease, I would suggest Perkins in St. Catharines (it looks like there will be a bunch of us) at say 7:00pm (to get there after the dinner rush and before the bar rush)? Does that sound good? The people at Perkins also know us from last year and are very accomodating. It is fairly inexpensive (just remember to tip well so they keep loving us :D).

Perkins at 7:00 sounds great. Add one more wrimo though; I got one of my friends to join.

Can't wait! Hopefully we'll all click and the husbands won't be too clueless.

The 7th Wrimo decided to go get drunk x_o

My other friend said she'd come though, because going in taxis alone scares me.
