Why is it on anything like this, Lincoln always ends up being clumped together with Nottingham.
When I was at Uni in Leeds no-one ever knew where Lincoln was and I always said 'Its near Nottingham!'
Anyway, just checking whether there are any folks in the same boat as me - feeling left out in the sticks?

That would be me, then... ;-)

we tried to organise a little meet-ette last year for the locals (then there were four or five, if memory serves) but we couldn't settle on a date... That said, I'm up for trying again if you fancy!

Have just sent out a few emails to see if anyone else I know will be joining the challenge.
Nottingham is such a bugger of a place to get to. It would certainly be good to meet other (local) NaNoWriters - even if only for a drink in the pub! Whereabouts are you? I am in North Hykeham.
As of last week I became a full time writer - or as some might say 'unemployed!!'.

In this case Lincoln ends up with Nottingham because there haven't been enough vocal people in the city to justify their own forum. And those people who would arrange or go to Lincoln meets have gone to Nottingham in the past because there was an established group there.

I'm fairly close to Lincoln but have always counted myself as Nottingham simply because it's easier to get to on the train from here than Lincoln is...

I'm "working freelance" personally... read into that what you will... OK... sponging off Mrs K until I find myself something more full time!

I'm up in the twee quarter at the top of the hill (not far from the Cathedral) - so regarding meeting up, I'd guess the town centre would probably make the most sense. Beer always an option; or coffee if people would prefer - as there's always the Starbucks (although personally I prefer the Tritton Road one, as it's bigger and less crowded). Town centre pub-wise, I'm at a loss... Don't go drinking at the bottom of the hill as the walk back up's not a fun one...

Over to you!

Well... if we're being honest, it's probably easier to get to Katmandu from most places by train than it is to get to Lincoln...

Actually Lincoln isn't clumped in with Nottingham, it's in with England Elsewhere...

I'm from just outside of Lincoln, would love to be involved in a meet if it's City Centre area! Let me know if anything gets arranged.

OK then... taking the reins here...

What times and dates would be good for people... Saturday morning/s lunchtimes are right out for me... and any time beween 6 and 9pm's a bugger...

With that in mind...?

and anyone who says 3am on Sunday gets judiciously ignored...

Well, I could probably do virtually any time, given enough notice! So I'll probably just go along with what is practical for others. You see, I'm not fussy!

Same as Virtuosa - not working at mo. so free-ish! I have added all Lincoln folk I have found in this forum and the Elsewhere forum as my buddies and I have 8, so even if only half make it, it'll be a start....

OK seeing as the worst possible answer anyone can give when asking to organise a meetup is "I'm easy..." ( ;-) )

How about we do Friday 16th, as suggested initially?

Now I can't do the evening, but am free during the day - so if people want to meet up lunchtime-ish for a coffee (I STILL say the Starbucks on Tritton Road, or if we can swing it, the central pedsetrianised bit, but am happy to take other suggestions) say high noon - so that thopse who're working in the area can drop in for a few minutes and say 'Hi' if they feel inclined... and still be able to grab a sandwich etc.

Whatsay people?

Lol!

Friday 16th, lunchtime is a definite OK with me. But... If its Starbucks on Triton Road, I have no idea where that is, some one will have to tell me!

EDIT: I know where Triton Road is, lol. It's Starbucks I don't know the location of!

the *$ on Tritton Road is in the retail parky bit on the opposite side to Morrisons... with Currys, Comet, Halfords, Staples and Pets@Home...

They also have wireless and big comfy sofas...

I'd imagine that with a little prompting mrs K would make an apperance. She wrote in 2006, but hasn't got the time to spare this year... Um...

Anyone?

How we doing Lincoln?
Double figures yet?
Not me, but I did meet with an actual working P.I. on Wednesday so I have the ideas - its just making them sit together in some form of meaningful sentence!!

Hope to see some of you on Friday (12 noon Starbucks, Tritton Road) - Should we each carry a book under our left arm to be easily identified?

I was wondering how we would recongise one another! I'm thinking about bringing a piece of cardboard with me with 'NaNoer Here' written on it!

My novel isn't going too bad now. From being way behind, I'm now slightly ahead and am on for a finish in time for November 30th!

See you all Friday, I hope.

I just moved this from Nottingham to Elsewhere ... I'm hoping you'll be able to find more folks in your area there.

Hi all!

Was just wondering if anyone was missed at the meet-up on Thursday??

We were there, we just weren't that obvious. Next time a sign shall be brought. :) I was wondering if anyone was interested in a meet up to celebrate completion? Even if people don't make the 50k, we can still celebrate making it through the month.

If people could put in a vote for evening or afternoon, it will be a great help. The most votes wins. (aah democracy in action). LIkewise any preferred day. Even if you don't mind, you must still have a preference. :) Ok. We'll go from there.

Take care all, and good writing. See you all at 50k!

So sorry, but I didn't make it. (I went Friday - was I wrong?) Got half way into town and the traffic was so bad I turned back!!
Perhaps if you have another meet up you could have it on the outskirts somewhere.....Nosey Parker? Poacher?
Friday 30th I could do in the evening. Or what about the Sunday? Am free any day / eve the next week.
Would certainly like to try to see you all at the finish line....I am a bit behind at the mo. but hope to be back on track tomorrow.
So sorry missed you all. Good Luck! JoBoz

Oops. I meant Friday!!! *Hangs head* I was on a Thursday in my novel, lol.

Oh well. So. I was thinking maybe Sunday, 2nd December. I would prefer somewhere in Town like the Ritz pub. (Food and drink and coffee all in one place! Plus, comfy seating can be found.) How about 2pm?

Any objections/ other ideas. Post away :)

Keep writing!!

I used to practically live in the Ritz when I was at Uni. Decent prices, and the grub isn't too bad, either. As I don't have a car, the Ritz would be good for me, although I can walk to the Nosey Parker (they changed its sign! I couldn't believe it it last time I walked past it) easy enough from the train station. However, on a Sunday the traffic won't be so bad, so I would expect it'd be easier for folk to get into town.

Cheers,
Mike

2pm on the 2nd December at The Ritz, Wetherspoons. I will try my best to be there!!
Firstly though, I shall have to get on with the writing....
I'm not giving up just yet, but can I still come if I don't reach the 50,000?

Just a quick thought... I will be late. The earliest train on a Sunday arrives in Lincoln at 3pm. But it'll take me less than 5 minutes to get to the Ritz once I'm in Lincoln.

Considering that the last meeting lasted nearly 4 hours with just three of us, I doubt everyone'll disappear in the hour before I arrive.

Cheers,
Mike

My apologies in advance, but I'll have family commitments to attend to on the Sunday... Although I'll be there in spirits...
