David Seven wrote to say he can't make Sunday morning. The tentative venue closes on Sunday afternoon.
David Seven and Moonblue can't make Saturday afternoon.
I don't think it's a good idea to have Tygerkatt (and possibly, hopefully, others) driving home on Friday evening.
SO . . . unless we can find a venue for Sunday afternoon, that leaves us with Saturday morning . . . and every where will be SO busy.
Any suggestions of a suitable venue for Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon folk?
Any other comments about what time you definitely CAN'T make it?
Please post your comments HERE so we can discuss the issue between us.
Moonblue and I are working on the goodie bags and will need to know how many to do, so PLEASE TALK TO US!!! It'll be a fun time meeting each other, and getting fired up for the BLAST OFF on the 1st.

This might be a silly suggestion - and would be dependent of wether people are working in regular jobs or not. What about Friday during the day. I will be on leave that day (hooray - my first day off in weeks). Perhaps lunch?

Any comments on that? Tygerkatt, could you make a Friday afternoon? Anyone else? David Seven, would that suit you? HeLLOOOO? All you others?

I might be able to make Friday afternoon. I've got to go through to PE to arrange some things for my trip, maybe I can do all that stuph on Friday morning. I will have to talk to the man and let you know but I don't think it will be problem.
Get back to you tonight or tomorrow morning.

Shirley, if I may ask a favour, please. Last year you dangled a writer's club carrot in front of our noses, saying you will give us the info when we meet for coffee.
We never got around to meeting for coffee and I don't know if my mails to you got 'spammed' but would you be able to give us the info this year, seeing as we are meeting for coffee.
I, for one, would love to join a writer's club.
*grin*

Thanks for the nudge, I will bring along info about the group. Others have asked too.
Sorry you can't be with us, Constantia, but I do understand. It's a long way for a couple of hours.

And now to bed.

DavidSeven has managed to switch his committment, so can meet on Sunday morning (he might post later, but hasn't been very active on the forum - come and play DavidSeven:)
It would seem that the two options are the original of Sunday morning, or Friday afternoon. Which one suits most people best. I can do either.

Okay, unless we hear to the contrary, we are going ahead to book our venue for Sunday morning, from 9:45 for 10 until 12.
We'll give more details tomorrow, but the venue offers a comprehensive menu of snacks, drinks, etc, at a reasonable price.
Please note that this will be at your own expense. (I believe the water's free. )
Goody bags will be handed to all those who make it.

I have been meeting with potential nanowriters in Grahamstown, who will not be able to travel to PE.
So - there will be small kick off party in Grahamstown on Wed 31 October. 7:30pm at 137 High Street. Hopefully between these two events all the East Capers will be able to attend one.

Wednesday 31 October at 7:30pm
at
Venue: 137 High Street, Grahamstown

Arrived home about an hour ago. We had 5 at the first-ever official regional do for the Eastern Cape. WOOHOO!!! It was SO GOOD meeting the folk that have just been names until now. There is a 2nd kick-off in Grahamstown on Wednesday.
We all gave a convincing act of being starving writers as we stuck into our English Breakfasts and discussed our plots.
We played some great games amidst much hilarity, and also received some intriguing, if not always practical ideas for our novels. Moonblue and I issued our group with a challenge, which we will tell you more about after all the kick-off parties are over. Suffice it to say, you are going to see some VERY creative novels coming from the Eastern Cape this year!
We handed out the goody bags, which seemed to be appreciated. Unfortunately our swag hasn't arrived yet, but Moonblue and I were creative, and the official swag can hopefully be used at the TGIO session.
We sat around a table in an alcove in a coffee shop. We had a notice on the table: "Danger: Novelists at Work." We received some intrigued looks and definitely got the public's attention when two of our number tattooed themselves at the table!
All in all a fun time, and definitely worth repeating.

It was fantastic! Thanks a mil!

Hey Andiji, glad you figured out the forum. And welcome to the crazy world of nanowrimo. Another East Caper arrives at the party:)
Yes, it is Halloween. now you don't need to go trick or treating as you will be getting a goody bag to take home with you.
See you Wednesday.

Yes, the PE kick-off was loads of fun.
I am really looking for the Grahamstown version.
All nanowriters in and around Grahamstown are welcome to attend. If you could let me know if you are coming (preferably by the end of today) it would be a help as we have goody bags with some very cool stuff in and if we get more people than bags I will need to make some more tonight. You can either post here or send me an email (on this site, or in real life)
Hope to see you all there. And so nice to finally have faces to attach to the names of the PE and Humansdorp people.

Part 2 happened in Grahamstown last night. It was a bit quieter than the PE version, although still lively enough to cause the other table in the restaurant to come over and find out what we were up to. We all knew each other already, so it was more a chance to talk about our novels and reassure the newbies that we were not in fact TOTALLY crazy to be doing this.

I didn't say we weren't crazy. I think that is a given. So crazy yes, but not totally, because this is in fact doable. And fun. And of course, crazy:)
Oh, I am soo jealous of all teh word counts coming up from people who get to write during the day. 4000 on day one. Before lunch! Go SAShirl.
I managed to get to 900 words during my lunch break, which was a bit of an experiment. For anyone feeling panicky, that was in just over half an hour. Can't wait to get home and write a whole lot more.

Anyone listening?
Why's it so QUIET? There's no rugby. The cricket's over. Soccer hasn't started. So where are you guys?
You're what? You're WRITING?
Ahh. Must be a novel to keep you so busy.
Write on, but don't forget to say hi every now and then. :-)
Some great word counts showing on the charts. Well done South African Wrimos!

Hi, Andiji here
I've got going, and guess what, I'm having FUN, even though the thought of what I'm trying to do SCARES me! Any idea why it's scary?
Anyway, 2423 or so words so far... I don't know where to look on the site to see the stats, but I found it last week...?!
Hope to meet you sometime if the Ecapers get together at all...
Bye!

Andiji, Great to have you on board. The Eastern Capers got together for a kickoff the Sunday before NaNo started, and we'll be meeting after it's over to cheer, commiserate, whatever. We talked about getting together but we're too scattered. There would only have been, at the most, three of us. However let us know where you're from and we can have a chat around this. Maybe we can make a plan . . . even if we're not boers!
Write well! And yes, enjoy it! That's what this is all about. And you may be amazed at what you learn about yourself AND your writing before the month is over.
TYGERKATT? You there girl? For those that don't know, Tygerkatt was at our kickoff and left on day two of NaNo for Ireland! She still plans to write from there. Hmmmmm. We'll see. :-)
Write on folk. Some great word counts showing already.

Wow, you guys are all doing a great job. I got off to a good start but slipped a bit on the weekend (ie did not write at all:( Hoping to make up the missing words this week.
The Grahamstown east capers agreed that it would be good to meet up next week. By then we will have had a chance to get going and might need the reassurance of seeing the others.

Good to see those word counts getting up there.
I got off to a good start, and had hoped to do some overtime over the weekend. However the 'flu I have been shaking for a while came back full force on Saturday, and I'm about two days behind.
I have to admit I felt a little better when I saw the note form Chris on the home page today. He's at 5k as well, so my 4,800 is not too bad....
Yes it is, but watch out SA, I feel a word sprint coming on.
