Just a reminder of the idea we had last year. Last year we tried to write a group story. The plan was to reach 50k, but due to a lack of planning it failed. (As we tried doing a mystery, but nobody had any idea where it went.)
So this year the idea was to write a story about our lives during Nano. It can be fiction or non-fiction, but I can tell you I'm going to try to come up with the most hilarious fictitious events that I can. Not that I think they'll be truly funny, but I'm gonna try anyway. So dibs on the scene in the metro where my character asks somebody else to hold her laptop so she can type standing. ;)
If I forgot anything, please remind us all.
So if you want to join just holler. I think we'll all be joining in a communal blog where the adventures will be posted. (As we still have that one from last year.)

Oh that might be a lot of fun indeed!
I'll have to give it some serious thought. I only want to write something if I can make it either good or hilarious (which implies good :P).

Didn't that idea die a horrible death last year..? Or am I terribly mistaken about that?

HK, always looking at the bright side :-).
Well actually I might just go ahead and add some to the story if somehow this idea will stay around during NaNo. I think it might be a good idea that the person responsible for the blog replied in this topic and tells us where it *could* be this year ;-)

Maybe we could...expand it a little, so people can just write about *someone* (fictitious, perhaps) that is doing NaNo, and their life during that period. Would make it a whole lot better for me, and I'm sure it'll help some other people come up with nice stuff.

No worries, Hannah, last year's idea about a murder mystery died a horrible, slow death. This was the alternative idea I came up with because it sounded a lot more feasible, as this idea doesn't have us all waiting for input from the others.
And of course you can come up with a fictitious character! What I meant with writing about 'our' lives was that everybody gets to write about one character (either yourself of a character you made up) and tell the story of his/her Nano-adventures. Meaning we'll get a novel filled with short stories about several characters during Nano. And if you want you can talk with one of your fellow Knights and intertwine some of the stories, after all our own lives will mix every once in a while too.

Not sure if I will be participating...is the KotnT to be written during november? And how much do we need to write? Because there is no chance in Owin's frozen hell that I can do nano and write a, let's say, 10k story about someone doing nano (if I manage to write 10k about someone doing nano at all), but a 2k story might just be possible....
If I participate, I foresee a slow and horrible death for my novelist...

I think (but that's just speculation), that everyone just writes however much they can/want to contribute. I mean, not everyone will be able to do the same amount, and if a lot of participants write a short piece, we might reach the 50k together anyway.
'S far as I remember the objective was for the Dutch participants to collectively make one nanonovel in November, which failed last year since the story got lost somewhere along the way, which is how the current idea got posited.

You hit the nail on the head, Arike. Just write as much as you can and the goal is to write 50k together. So the more people join in, the less we have to write. And I'm not going to point fingers if somebody only contributes a couple hundred words, every little bit counts. Not everybody is a word spewing demon like Jarsto. :)

Yes.
No required number of words. The goals is to have at least another 50k as a total group. Whether you want to contribute 10k, 2k, or 50 words of flash fiction, I'm pretty sure we can fit you in.
Whatever gets you writing...

when there is no complaint about including some dutch written slash, I might want to contribute a funny sexcii story about "Astrix and Obilix, and the things happening under the NaNo table".

To me there are three things that need discussing here:
- whether we allow Dutch text (no problem to me, we can just translate it later if need be)
- whether we allow slash (no problem to me either)
- whether we allow characters from other timelines
This last point is to me the most problematic (although that might be a bit too heavy a word). My idea was that this story is set in our own time, though I might not have specified that before.
But as I said, this is open to discussion.
The way you could still make it work in our timeline is if your characters were modern day people who looked a bit like Asterix and Obelix and were nicknamed such.

Ok, but as I said: might. My own NaNo comes first. But I can upgrade the concept to a "role playing of Astrix and Obilix".. I could also try to write it in English. We/I'll see during November.

First two things seem no problem to me. Whatever gets the wordcount up should be allowed, I think. If characters from another timeline can be joined or integrated in a good/"believable" way (also good for wordcount probably), hey, what's the big deal :)

I'm not familiar with how this type of thing works, but I should be able to contribute a couple thousand words over the course of the month anyway. But if we're going to be knights, I call dibs on Gawaine. Someone else can be Lance or the green one.

I'm going to try and write a little something to start off tomorrow, but feel free to write a kickoff (party?) scene tomorrow. Just make sure, you keep joint scenes coherent.
My character will simply be named Sahi, and she will be at the party of course. :)
