There's a tradition that's been running amuck on the NaNoWriMo boards, and we have remained, until now, unscathed. It's the tradition of having regional word wars.

There are a few ways it can be done, but one of them is to calculate it on an average word count per user for each region. Another way is to calculate based on the percentage of winners for the region. There are more, but that's the general idea.

One of the major benefits of this is that it helps participants get their word counts up (incentive, people!) and increase likelihood of participants winning.

The Korea ML asked if we want to have it out with them. I'm asking you. Are you in? Are you interested?

I'm sorry, y'all, but five or six people was not enough for us to participate in a word war. There just wasn't enough interest.

With all sorts of new regions formed this year, we lost a lot of active members to other regional forums. Unfortunately, that can happen with an elsewhere forum.

Perhaps next year we'll have enough of an interest to go head to head with another region. :)
