We have been challenged!

I got an email from the Vermont ML challenging us to a Word War!

Last year Vermont and NH were involved and this year they want us too. (NH doesn't have an ML yet, but that should be fixed very soon.)

It's a little different from the Word War we had with DC last year, but it sounds like great fun.

Basically we'll be inviting anyone who wants to participate to let us know in this thread and we'll go from there.

There's two categories - 1 - Total words. 2 - Words per participant. The second category is so that the state with the lowest number of participants still has a chance to win a category.

We'll be collecting word counts from all participating a couple times throughout the month so we can keep track of how we're doing. So make sure you keep your word counts up to date!

If you're interested, please let me know with a reply to this thread and we can go from there. I think it's a great way to pull us all together, show our state pride, trash talk with our neighbors and show those other two states who's boss around here!

Ken

Oh-ho! This shall be interesting. I quite had fun tracking our progress vs. D.C.'s last year.

I'm curious, which state has the least number of participants?

Okay, I've been talking to the other regional MLs and this is how it's going to work.

We'll be giving people until November 7th to sign up. So, make sure you talk to other Mainers who are doing NaNo and make sure they sign up here!

After that I'll be collecting word counts on November 10th, 17th, 24th and 30th.

Then I'll be plugging the numbers into a spreadsheet (once I figure out how the darn thing works) and reporting back to the other regional MLs. Those who have not updated their word counts in two weeks will be dropped from the challenge.

After everyone had reported in I'll be posting the results in a thread so everyone can keep track of how we're doing!

Also, our little challenge has grown! Not only is it us, Vermont and NH, but part of Connecticut has decided to join in the fun.

Let's show those other states who's boss. Let's let them have it and bury them this November!

Well, count me in for the challenge, anyway.
