Hi! As well as being a fellow NaNoWriMo participant, I manage the Indoor Cafe Starbucks in Burbank. It's connected to The Great Indoors. We've got a great environment for writing - lots of tables, free WiFi, and a friendly staff. People are welcome to come write anytime, but I'd like to offer up our location for write-ins on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. We'll give free refills on any drink to NaNoWriMo participants who come in to write (same visit only).
Here's our address:
1301 N. Victory Place
Burbank, CA 91502
(818) 847-1451
See you then!

Hey,
I'm planning a........write in or out, not sure which, but one of the two on Sundays from 9 to 11 in the morning at.......
Solar De Cahuenga
1847 Cahuenga Blvd
Hollywood, CA 90028
Phone: (323) 467-7510
Now the question I have is, what exactly do I need to do for write ins or outs? Do I need to prepare anything or is it just for people to get together and write together?

Hi Greenschmoodle,
You do need to decide which Saturdays you want to schedule your Write-In for, so it can be entered into the Calender.
You don't need to prepare anything elaborate, but you might want to make a sign that says "WRITE-IN" and sit it on your table, or wear your NaNo T-shirt (if you have one), or hang a sign from your laptop's monitor's back so folks can see it. Write-Ins can be anything you want, but if it's for conversation, note that in your description. You can designate a writing table and a talk-table, if you want.
Hope that helps,
Julie

Hi, Julie ~ Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but I have had the hardest time getting online the past few days.
Anyway, this is an ongoing write-in, although we may change the time and place, depending on what everyone who meets there wants to do. But for sure we're meeting Sunday 11/4 at 10 a.m. at the Coffee Table on Rowena in Silverlake.
Thanks!
Write on!

Okay: I've had your Write-In up on the Google calender for a while - I'll add it on to the other Saturdays, too. I'll double-check to see if it's been added to the regional calender at the bottom of the page. And I completely understand about having a hard time getting onto the computer, and this site in particular.
Good luck tomorrow! (and have fun!)

Can you please add a write-in to the calendar for today:

Borders Books on Lake, between Del Mar and California.
Free parking.
Sara McBride will be there in a NanoWrimo T-shirt.
Thanks!

Sorry, Sara, I wasn't home when you posted this and only just saw your entry. Would you like me to put it up on the Google calender for next week? If you can give me notice at least the day before, that's better.

Hi, Julie ~ Three of us met this morning, had a good solid session. I think each of us wrote 800-1000 words, which isn't too shabby for the first write-in, esp. since we had some questions and/or support needs to take care of. lol
Anyway, we decided to meet at the Coffee Table on Rowena again next Sunday at 11 a.m., rather than 10 a.m., so if you could change that in the calendar, I'd appreciate it.
Hope your writing is going well!

...which didn't really work out. I went to the calendar and Gayle's Perks is listed for a write-in on Sunday mornings--except that I found out when I got there that the coffee shop is closed on Sundays. Might be good to take that one off the calendar.
sigh.

Hello MLs,
Can you please post a write-in on the Calendar for the next three Sundays:
Pasadena - Vroman's - 10am-1pm
Vroman's is giving us a private room with tables and chairs. I'll fill-in the details of room location, power plug access, etc. tomorrow after I go pick up the keys.
Thank you much! - Sara (smcbride)

Yeah, I was bummed about that, too. Did you see the sign I posted up on the door, though, RJack? I moved it to the Target across the street. :-( That's what I get for assuming a coffee shop would be open on a Sunday, you know? Silly me. D'oh!
Anyhow, I'll probably move it to Sunday mornings at a Starbucks I usually go to during the week. I'll have the address up. It's in Mission Hills on Devonshire near Sepulveda. I'm sorry I missed you Sunday morning.

Is the event listing at the bottom of our forums as it should be? It lists the Long Beach write-out and then skips the next 17 days. There are many more events on the calendar itself...

The forum calender is very awkward to use - every event needs to entered in seperately, and every time/date/place needs to be entered in each time, as well. It's a time-savings on the regional forum calender to simply list the final date for an on-going event like a write-in, and title it "All Sundays" or "All Thursdays" instead of going through the entire listing process four times for each write-in. I don't like to sit in front of the computer all day entering in dates: I just like to do it once for each write-in or party or meeting.
The Google Calender, on the other hand, is much easier to input write-ins with only one entry needed per event(s). It's all done in one entry. Hence, on the Google calender you'll see the full schedule.

Ah, I see. There are some events I don't see listed at all, but maybe only official ones are listed at the bottom of the boards? For instance, the Thursday Southbay write-ins at Borders in Torrance. ;-)

No, there's only one official event listed on the forum calender at the moment. My write-in, as well as some others, are listed also; some timed-out as the day they were scheduled for passed by. That's the other difference between the two calenders: the Google calender keeps them up forever, while the forum calender erases them as they pass by. At least the list on the bottom of the forum does.
I'll stick the Torrance write-ins back up here.
