Finally, finally, I'm here to invite folks to our Second Annual NaNoWriMo in the Adirondacks Kickoff Celebration.

We're meeting at the Johnsburg Public Library on Main Street in North Creek on Thursday, October 25, from 6-7pm for the launch. A little after 7pm, we'll be heading over to the Black Mountain Restaurant, at the junction of Route 8 and Peaceful Valley Rd. to renew our authorly bonds.

All are welcome, and no, you don't have to live in the Adirondack Park to join our group. We encourage those just south of us, in Glens Falls, Queensbury, and surrounding towns, to take the leap with us.

Please contact me at doodleoo2004@yahoo.com if you need any information or directions.

Hope to see you on the 25th!

I'm nowhere near you guys but it sounds like you have a good group. How many were in this group last year?
I passed through you way on my way to LaBelle, QUE. this summer. The whole idea of a goup of writers in that isolated area amazes me. But I can't think of a better locale to write in. What are you writing? Is it set up there in the Park area?
Do you all have the same genre?

Yes, Johnsburg, in northern Warren County, is very rural (population 2200), but we have members from surrounding towns as well. Do you know Gore Mountain? That's our most central location and is a site that many residents of New York State seem to know.

Last year we had 10 people sign up and 5 were winners. A 50% success rate is pretty darn good, I think. As a group we really bonded and had loads of fun and group spirit. It was one of those lifetime "peak experiences" for many, including me.

We can't wait to get rolling!

You guys are incredible. And you are right, the numbers and the 50% success rate is staggering. How much of it do you feel comes from connecting with the group? I think you must have a very strong creative stream among you. Wish I were up there and could draw from you all, I really do. I think you've got something extraordinary going there.

Gore Mountiain is known as a good place for skiing. I don't following skiing but think it must still be very popular.

I do think that the group's bonds with each other and the spirit of community was a critical factor in our high success rate last year. If our Kick-Off evening last Thursday is any indication, we're off to a roaring start. After the Kick-Off at the Johnsburg Library, most of us went out to eat to reconnect and welcome our new members. It was a great evening! We've got about 17 sign-ups, which is 7 more than last year.

Why don't you consider taking a road-trip to one of our write-ins? We occasionally have them in Glens Falls.

Golly that's a kind invitation. I doubt that I could make that this year but I wish all of you the success and joy of getting 50,000 behind you. I work every other weekend as well as during the week, so I'm facing quite a crunch in November. If you don't mind, can I check in now and then and be connected long distance?

Antica,
By all means, keep in touch! Would you enjoy being a remote member of our group and receive our group e-mails?

Just e-mail me at doodleoo2004@yahoo.com and let me know your e-mail address and the town you live in and you're in!
