Okay, get your story ready in your head. Do your research and work on your characters. By November 1, you should be ready to dive right in! Remember that we're all here to write and help one another. So say something if you get stuck.
We're all in this together!

Hey there, it's me Birdie--in these parts known as theinkslinger. Can I invite a friend from my local writer's guild to join us here? I think she's decided to try NaNoWriMo as of today.

I have a book summary I have to finish up for BookRags, but that should be done by the middle of this week and then I hope to focus on my story line. I don't really outline it much, but let the characters carry me to some main points. It's so much fun to see how we get there! For anyone who has read my short story "The Soulless", I'll be continuing that story line.

Thanks, ben. Appreciate you letting me hang out here. It would have been nice to find that dumb comp under the bed, but nooooo-it crashed completely, taking all my files away with it. If I ever run into Mr. Peter Knight again, I'm going to let him know that all of that 'praising gates' was just a waste of time. ;o)

We're a week away from the start! I hope you're thinking about the story, the characters, the setting, and all the other things you need to begin writing. Don't worry about getting it perfect! This is about writing and not letting distractions keep you from the main task.
What's the main task? Writing! Not editing, not worrying about anachronisms, nothing but the writing. Get your story moving along, go for the 50,000 words, and worry about continuity, etc, later on.
A note: If you want to post a new topic in this room, go to the top of the page and hit the "Reply" button. That will create a new topic under our room. If you click on "New Topic" I think the message will go out to the main forum somewhere, where we'll be lucky to find it. To reply to any other post just click on "Reply" at the bottom of that post. Got it? LOL

Hi, Benning,
A former Heine here - Shirley from F2K2007 and WVU. I gave myself the name of Skyrocket hoping this would motivate me to soar over the difficulties and now I can't get rid of it, LOL.
Well, I wish everyone who does Nano luck and good writing. I tried it last year but only got up to 40,000.

Hey there S.M.,
Good to see you here. A demonic thriller!! Oooooo, sounds good. I'll have to see if I can set things up to keep an eye on your word count. :)
Really good to have you here. Bunch of good folks here, and if you offer them M & M's you'll make friends for life. LOL

Grumps here, tapping on the door.
----------Any chance of an old F2Ker squeezing into a quiet corner. I've read the rules, and other info, but it's all new to me, and I guess I'd appreciate the company of experienced NaNo-ers.
I'm still expecting to be cut off by my IP while moving house; but it hasn't happened yet. I could be off-line for 10 days when it does happen, but I'd keep writing anyway.
If there's a spare desk, do we write on-line, and post in here - or on the main NaNo site?
Regards to all.
Grumps. ;-)

Hi Grumps,
This is my 4th year taking part in the madness. In fact, my novel Windwalker was written in my first attempt. The book I wrote the second year is about ready to submit, and the one I wrote last year is waiting for revisions. It's such a process!
And you won't be the only newbie. I have a few friends from my local writer's guild joining us. I think a couple of them are still in shock and awe that they have signed up. :)
As for writing, you don't have to post your work online. There will be a place that you can post a sample, but what they track here is your word count. It shows up on a graph. And you can add "friends" to your page so you can watch their word counts grow too. So even though you'll be off for 10 days, if you can keep writing, you'll do just fine.

Hello all...are you ready for November 1? I've been working on my outline (which I only do for NaNo...grin).
Looks like NaNo has made some changes to their site...looks good. I'm trying to stay away from the games...they are addicting!
Good luck to all and Happy Writing...Brenda

Hi Everyone,
It's Keet here. I couldn't help it. I registered with no plans to participate. Then today I received a mass email from Chris Baty and I logged in. I haven't a clue what to write about. It's 9.20 pm in Malaysia, just hours before 12 am and nothing...
Between now and then, I have to proof-read a 40-page journal and prepare a report to send out early tomorrow morning. Hopefully, I will dream about something.
I realised that there is a Asia: Malaysia region. But I hope you don't mind if I am here. I feel more comfortable here among friends.
Anyway, all the best to all of you out there. Oh yes, to some of you whom I haven't cyber-met, I was in the F2K2006 and 2007 and am on WVU, active mostly in the B144 room and am the F2K2006 yahoo group as well.
Keep writing, friends...
Cheers

Keet! Good to see you! Hey, why not do some sort of modern version of a Malaysian folk tale? Or maybe use a folk tale for the basis fo a modern story? There's plenty of material out there, so look around. :-)
You start before the rest of us, but it doesn't matter. The goal is the same for all of us: 50,000+ words by November 30th!
Wheeeee!

----------I have not prepared anything except a title (I Sold My Soul) and a vague opening; but I'm sure the warmth, talent, and inspiration surrounding me here will help pave the way into unknown territory.
Only nine hours and ten minutes to go here in the UK. Good luck to everyone.
Gotta go - still packing boxes.

Hi All,
It's Nov 1 in Malaysia. Its 12.30 am. I have opened a folder and a document that read Chapter I. There is nothing on it for now. I hope to have words on it tomorrow or today (whatever)
Happy NaNo to all. Write, people, write!!!
Cheers

Remember, even if you can't get online during this endless move of yours, you write! Every chance you get, every moment not filled with the necessities of living, no matter what else is going on and just screams for you to be a part of .... you write!
That way we'll find out just what "I Sold My Soul" is all about.
50,000 words or more, Grumps; that's what you're aiming for.
Oh, and Happy Hallowe'en!

Y'know, Keet, I'd give you a pep-talk, but I've seen how well you write so why bother?
Find an idea and run with it. If it peters out, switch directions and keep on writing! Something will spark you and then I know you're "off to the races"!

----------One hour and 15 minutes to go here in old Blighty.
We had eight groups of kids Trick or Treatin' at the new address tonight, and they've emptied our pockets, so I can't go out wasting time shopping or drinking. I'll just have to stay in and write.
The picture you posted is great - but which one is you? Teeheehee!
See you later - I'm off to sharpen my pencils.

WooHoo! Thanky muches benning for lighting my path. I'd never find ya any other way. Well I've scrolled down and took a look at the group. Very well dressed and sparking with wordsmithing electricity. An inspiration to me. The trick and treaters have run out of toilet paper and gone home so I can climb out of my tree with my unused water balloons, lol kidding, and begin my love of writing. I have never finished a nanowrimo. Sumpthin has gotten in the way each time. Mostly my head editor who is always looking over me shoulder tsking. : ) And I've never been with a group I knew and felt a kinship with as I do with you all. : ) So here is to everyones success, for you are a winner even if you don't cross the finish line. : ) be well j
