Between all the wind yesterday and today, you can definitely tell that fall is in the air. The wind has that bite to it that says winter isn't long in coming. The trees around the house are now showing the very first colored leaves. I'm hoping they will stick around until at least mid-November, but that may be too much to hope for.

Today was the first day this season that we have set up the fireplace and had a fire. For some reason that always puts me in a creative mood. Considering I'm doing NaNo this year I have a feeling I'll be burning more logs this November than last year, by a long shot.

The NaNo writing corner is now set up, with a very comfy chair with lombard support, a clear view of the fireplace, a handcrafted afghan made my my Grandmother to drape over my feet, and a table next to the chair all set to receive hot tea or hot chocolate. Oh, and soft music in the background. Yep, ready to write.

So, has anyone else set up a special writing area?

Julieann, your space sounds absolutely dreamy. I like the fireplace setting. I sure hope it isn't too comfy, though - I don't want you dozing between paragraphs

My writing space is a separate room complete with corner desk, computer, reference books, printer, toys and props, and a cushioned arm chair on wheels. Behind me is a comfy chair I sit in to write longhand although one of my 3 cats usually occupy it. I have a large south-facing window that overlooks open meadowlands. A couple of candles are nearby for mood lighting if I need some. The toys and props help stimulate my imagination (as if it needs more). Some relate directly to current WIPs (works in progress); others feed my Muse; and others are reminders of where my gifts come from. There's a large smiley face mug full of pens, pencils, and markers, a quintet of singing nuns who serenade a raven, a frog, and a gnome, assorted sea shells, a plastic fish, a dragon cradling a crystal ball, more frogs, some butterfly finger puppets, a pair of Harry Potter glasses, some mardi gras beads, a set of vampire teeth, assorted Kaleidoscopes, a set of those Chinese hand balls to stretch my fingers, and a couple of spirit dolls. I like trinkets, can you tell?

When I'm in Wrimo mode, I'll write anywhere but I prefer my computer. I carry around an AlphaSmart word processor and a notebook at all times because I want to be able to write whenever and wherever during November. Every word I get out of me is one less I have to be concerned about come the end of the month. We'll have writing tips for all the newbies to keep you on target and reach your goals.

Yes, fall is definitely here. The oak trees are turning yellow and there is a bite in the air. We went out and got some firewood yesterday. I have to have a wood fire in the winter!.

I shall see you Wednesday and the WriMo meeting.

My special writing place is ....Well, I don't really one aside from my bedroom, and one of the booths at work. And not any particular booth. Just whichever one is free when I'm on break. You'd be surprised how much writing I can get done in about roughly twenty minutes. Writing at work on break is the main reason why I prefer the old-fashioned pen and paper writing, but then having to type it all up... Ugh! Sometimes I don't want to do that at all!

I'm so hoping that posting a bit here and maybe writing up a blog at MySpace will help with my itchy fingers, but I doubt it. I want to write the novel!

I know what you mean about itchy fingers. I've had the exact same problem. I've been editing and writing on any other old project that I can get my hands on. The upside is that perhaps one short story is ready to start submitting to magazines. :)

Krisanne can has a user name now /o/

Anyway, I tend to write wherever, but usually it's just my computer. But since I borrowed a laptop for november for the write-in's I think I'll just do all my writing on that, though I hate laptops. We do have a comfortable living room I almost never see, and considering how long it's likely to take me to hit the 2k words a day, I'll probably also throw a log on the fire and make myself comfortable after work every day.
