Hey, I'm a freshman at Duke and I was wondering if there was anyone else who wanted to meet for some write-ins on campus. Post here or email me at leg9@duke.edu :)

Hi,

I'm a Duke grad student whose also embarking on Nanowrimo this year. While I will likely do most of my writing in my office, I'm open for some write-ins in other parts of campus as well.

I don't go to Duke, but I...

* only live 12 miles away from Duke
* got rejected from attending Duke in 1971
* had a dog named Duke (how unoriginal)
* liked Duke (John Wayne) and think he was ripped off for not winning the Oscar in "The Quiet Man"
* lived next to the Duke Park in New Jersey and would sneak in to poach deer and fish in the off-limit ponds. (Some damn big fish in ponds that have been unfished since the 1920s.
* listened to Handel's Messiah in Duke Chapel
* have been to plays on the Duke campus
* liked Duke basketball long before I ended up in NC in 1986
* duked it out with a bully my first day in high school. Despite being outweighed by fifty pounds and him being 8 inches taller, I think I stunned him by fighting back. He crumpled like tissue paper. The other bullies never bothered me. Long live the nerd that fights back.

It'd be great to get something together in Durham, so as not to have to drive to Raleigh/Cary/Chapel Hill. I'm precepting at Duke, but am more often on 9th/Broad Streets than campus. Let me know if any plans emerge!

I'm a Duke sophomore! I'm going to try to participate in NaNoWriMo this year, but with my class schedule, I don't know if I'll be able to finish =/

So there are a few people around, cool :)
I'm going to officially start writing at 5pm Thursday in the Von der Heyden Pavilion in Perkins Library on West Campus. I wish I could start sooner, like at the stroke of midnight November 1, but I unfortunately have, y'know, classes.
I'd love some company when I do get started, though, and I'll probably be there the rest of the night (my friday classes won't have homework) so anybody who's around, please drop by any time! I'll be the short-haired blonde in a nano t-shirt, typing furiously on a black macbook.
So, I hope to see some people there!

I have no Duke affiliation, but I'm in training in Durham from 2-6 on Saturdays. Would anyone like to meet for coffee and mad-word-scribbles at, say, noon either this Saturday or next? My vote for location would be one of the coffee shops in the Erwin Terraces (intersection of Erwin and LaSalle).

I work at Duke at the Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) - aka the huge white building on Fulton St just down from the hospital. I also live in Durham and am about 5min away from the north part of campus.

I could hang out for a bit along 9th street on a lunch break - evenings or weekends I'd have to drag my kids along...
