This is an official invitation to anyone interested in joining write-ins at SoHo Dupont Circle. Currently it runs from around 5-8 pm, but feel free to show up any time!

    Directions:

Take the Red line to Dupont Circle, and exit via the South Exit (not Q street). Then find P Street: it should be around and to the left if you turn to face the circle. Take that down through the construction to the corner of 22nd and it'll be on the corner, should be to your left, at 2150 P St. NW.

This'll run through November, right? Can't come until the month actually start, but I heart SoHo.

I'll come by. I live in Glover Park (far from the maddening crowd), but Dupont is really easy to get to on the bus. I'll try to show up next week.

I'm hoping to make it, but I've got medical tests I need to do. Let's hope they can't keep me from my first official write-in in November, ever!

That was a lot of fun, except for:
Touch me, trust me / savour each sensation! / Let the dream begin, / let your darker side give in / to the power of the music that I write - / the power of the music of the night . . .

Aanyway. Good seeing everyone again and meeting some new faces. :)

I completely agree with you. All the Phantom of the Opera crap near the end (like 6:45 onward) was a little distracting and LOUD. The classical stuff I could handle and it was kind of motivating. But the rap and the Opera not so much. As Sara said, if she'd been writing an Opera maybe it would have worked haha!

Seriously. It was a tad loud. But it was nice meeting everyone!

It was a lot of fun, the lamentable surplus of Andrew Lloyd Webber aside. I had no idea anyone in the world liked Phantom that much...

Next time I'll try not to sit with my back to everyone. (=

Are you still having this write-in? I need motivation, I'm such a slacker.

Where were you sitting? I was there aroun 5:13. I was the one getting yelled at for bringing a Subway sandwhich in. I was sitting like directly across from the door at the table next to the couch.

What with Soho being a tad on the unfriendly side (sandwich-yelling, Phantom-playing, etc.), what do folks think about maybe shifting the post-Thanksgiving Wednesday write-in to Foster Bros. in Cleveland Park? (See S0kate's thread elsewhere...)

Umm... I think we'll be sticking to Soho, it being around the corner from our place and working late as it is we still get there a little bit later than the rest. Sorry to see people jumping ship though!

I may go over to Foster Brothers...if other people go...or I can just not eat hahah....And I'll probably only be at the write-in on the 28th as moral support...but still...it will be fun!

I know we had a week off for the holiday, but is anyone still interested in one last write-in on Wednesday, whether at the surly, Lloyd-Webber-infested confines of SoHo or the friendlier Foster Bros.? I still have a novel to finish...

I may show up for a bit at SoHo (even though I've no writing to do...unless I attempt to write my paper on correctional institutions...that could be interesting). I say I may show up b/c I am sick so we'll see how I feel tomorrow.

The music changes every week. I've never heard the same thing twice there.

But I'll still be at Soho, and we're keen to keep the write-ins going there even after November... if any of you are interested in continuing to write at a slower pace, and maybe even sharing a bit?

I'm not making my 50,000 by Friday - and will definitely be interested in write-ins in December and beyond. (Also, am hoping to come to SoHo tonight, work permitting!)

Aargh. I'm gonna have to miss the write-in this week, much to my dismay. Too little cash, too little sleep, too little time. I wouldn't be averse to the occasional post-NaNo write-in, though, and I'll most definitely see you folks at the TGIO party, whenever and wherever that may be. As for tonight, I'll be with you in spirit, and by "spirit," I mean, "pajamas, probably, at home, and typing away."

I'm into that. I have a class, my last, on the fifth, but beyond that I'm down with having nose to the grindstone sessions on Wednesday.

Peace

Hey all, anyone coming to SoHo tonight? I'm probably going to show up around 6 - 6:30 (bald guy, glasses, blue laptop, hint of madness in his eyes)

I'd like to see if anyone is interested in starting a writers circle as an ongoing group. I write year round and find that sharing your work forces you to up your game. Anyone interested can email hithereeveryone@yahoo.com

Peace, and maybe I'll see you tonight.

Patrick
