North Shore NaNoWriMo Kick-off Meeting
WHERE: Food Court @ The North Shore Mall (not the Liberty Tree Mall)
WHEN: 7.00 pm - 8.00 pm
I'll print out some table reservation signs and will hopefully have my ML cap by then (according to other ML's that's what they have). Otherwise, I have red hair and will wear a 'novelist' type of a shirt and might be running late - depending on hubby's ride home from work. So, if I'm not there at 7 pm sharp please - have faith that I will arrive by 7.15 pm.
We can decide on write-in's from there. There allegedly is a calendar function for ML's but I haven't found it yet. Once I do I can put meetings on there and the meetings will be e-mailed out to everyone.
See everyone soon! Beth

Hi Beth,
I joined the Boston group, but all the events were in Allston/Cambridge/Fenway. I work in downtown Boston but I live in Salem, so the North Shore is home. So I switched to the North Shore group. I kind of like the idea of a smaller group, too. I'll be there on the 29th. I'm looking forward to meeting you other North Shore Nanos.

Hey All,
I'm planning on going tonight, but I probably won't get there until around 7:30 - you'll all still be around, right?
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Tonight I'll be finishing a project for work, so I don't think I can make the Kick-off.
I will be able to stop by at the Monday night Newburyport write-ins (but probably not the 5th). What happens at the write-ins? Is it a social time, or do people actually write?
Have fun everybody, and hope to meet some of you soon.

Hola.
Not showing up until 7.30 p.m. is fine - I'll still be in the food court.
Write-ins. Usually, the first 15 - 20 minutes is for socializing - figuring out if others need help (plot, character, etc.). Then, we write - we can make it fun and have 'word wars' (see who writes the mosts words in 10 minutes) as well as musical chairs (we walk around the table - the music stops - you have to write 500 words for the story you are sitting in front of (oh - it's not your story) or make it serious and just write for an hour solid. Up to the group.
See y'all tonight, Beth

I'm not sure if I will make it tonight or not, either, but I am getting excited about this project. I just did a little test (at work, ahem) and found that I could type a 212-word reasonably sensible piece of story in 4 minutes, so doing 2000 words a day shouldn't take all that long.
The web site seems very slow - do others find it that way?

I just wanted to say that last night was fun and it was great to meet everyone. I have given the Writer's Block to my girlfriend (and my cat) to hide on me for the month - that really was a great idea. I think it's honestly the best piece of "swag" I've gotten in awhile :D
Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Hey all --
I looked around the foodcourt (around 7:20 or so) but couldn't seem to find anyone.... Better luck next time, I guess. Glad to hear you all had fun. I keep getting more and more ideas for my story, so I can't wait for Thursday to get here!

This is going to sound weird, but were you the girl walking around in the orange t-shirt, jean skirt, and boots? There was a girl that looked like she was looking for someone / something and I was going to go up to her and ask if she was looking for the NaNo group before I found them myself, but didn't because, well, I would have thought it sounded weird :P

That was, in fact, me!
Funny that I didn't find the group. Ah well. I am sure I will meet everyone sooner or later :-)
Besides, sounds like we have a scene going for an interesting story. What would have happened if you HAD gone up to jeanskirt wearing person? What if she WAS who you thought she was? What if she WASN'T? Hmmmmmm, NaNo infects everything these days....

It was you? Darn. Should have said something then :)
Maybe we could do like a writing skill game or something using all of those questions :)
